Streamlabs Talk Studio can schedule a prerecorded video as a YouTube live broadcast, but YouTube creates a Premiere through a separate upload flow in YouTube Studio. Choose based on the viewer experience you want: a Premiere watch page with its countdown and chat, or a scheduled live event.
What Talk Studio’s prerecorded option creates
Talk Studio’s scheduling flow offers a choice between “Live-stream” and “Pre-recorded video.” Choosing the latter lets you schedule an event that broadcasts a recorded file to YouTube; it does not establish that the resulting event is a YouTube Premiere. Streamlabs’ instructions describe it as a scheduled prerecorded broadcast, while YouTube’s Premiere instructions use a different workflow. Streamlabs’ scheduling instructions and YouTube’s Premiere instructions document those separate paths.
Choose the event type that matches your goal
| If you want… | Use… | What viewers get |
|---|---|---|
| A YouTube Premiere | Upload the video in YouTube Studio and select “Set as Premiere.” | A public watch page that viewers can share, set reminders for, and use to chat before and during the Premiere. |
| A scheduled prerecorded broadcast from Talk Studio | Schedule a Talk Studio event and select “Pre-recorded video,” then choose YouTube as the destination. | A scheduled live event. The documented Talk Studio workflow does not identify it as a Premiere. |
The documented workflows do not establish a direct conversion between a Talk Studio event and a Premiere. If a Premiere watch page is essential, create it through YouTube Studio rather than treating a Talk Studio broadcast as one.
How to schedule a prerecorded Talk Studio broadcast
- Confirm YouTube live access. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of the event. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guidance.
- Connect YouTube in Talk Studio. The YouTube destination must be connected to your Talk Studio account before scheduling.
- Open Talk Studio’s broadcast scheduler. Start a scheduled broadcast and select “Pre-recorded video,” rather than “Live-stream.”
- Add the recorded file and event details. Choose YouTube as the destination and schedule the event. The Streamlabs help page lists a 5 GB file limit, a one-hour maximum on Standard, a two-hour maximum on Pro/Ultra, and scheduling within a 50-day window. These are product and plan limits that may change; confirm what the current scheduler allows for your account.
- Review the YouTube event before sharing it. Confirm the destination, schedule, and resulting event page in YouTube. Describe it as a scheduled live broadcast, not a Premiere, unless Talk Studio explicitly offers a Premiere option and current official documentation confirms that behavior.
How to create an actual YouTube Premiere
- Upload the video through YouTube Studio.
- For an immediate Premiere, choose public visibility and select “Set as instant Premiere.” It starts after processing finishes.
- To schedule one, set the publication date and time and check “Set as Premiere.” YouTube provides the Premiere watch page, where viewers can share the page, set reminders, and chat before and during the event.
YouTube’s current help instructions say Premieres do not support Shorts, 360/VR180 video, or output above 1080p. Check the Premiere help page for current requirements before preparing the upload.

Limits and checks before you announce the event
- Talk Studio file and schedule limits: Streamlabs lists up to 5 GB, one hour on Standard, two hours on Pro/Ultra, and a 50-day scheduling window. Verify these limits in your account because plan terms and product interfaces can change.
- YouTube live eligibility: A Talk Studio prerecorded broadcast is still a live-event workflow. Check channel verification, restrictions, and live-stream activation before relying on it for a scheduled event.
- Event identity: A scheduled event page is not enough to call the event a Premiere. Use YouTube Studio’s “Set as Premiere” workflow when the Premiere experience matters.
- Content rights: Make sure you have the rights to the video and any music or other material in it. Scheduling a recording does not remove YouTube’s copyright rules.
If the setup does not work
- YouTube is unavailable as a destination: Confirm it is connected in Talk Studio and that the channel is enabled for live streaming. If this is the channel’s first live stream, activation may take up to 24 hours.
- The file or schedule is rejected: Compare the file size, duration, and event date with the limits shown in your current Talk Studio scheduler; the published limits vary by plan.
- The event does not look like a Premiere: That is consistent with the documented Talk Studio workflow. Create a Premiere from the upload in YouTube Studio and select “Set as Premiere.”
- You need an encoder-based live event instead: YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a stream URL and stream key; for a scheduled encoder stream, start the encoder and then click “Go live” in Live Control Room. Follow YouTube’s encoder instructions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded video streaming on YouTube beyond a scheduled event, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays your upload (not a camera feed), at any quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
