Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If your Streamlabs Talk Studio YouTube broadcast has no sound, first identify what viewers cannot hear: your voice, a guest, or audio from shared content. Then check the matching Talk Studio control—microphone permission and input for your voice, Show on stream for a guest, or the screen-share audio option for shared media. These checks are separate from Streamlabs Desktop settings.
First, identify which audio is missing
- Your voice is missing: Check that your browser can use the microphone, that you are not muted, and that Talk Studio has the intended input selected.
- A guest cannot be heard: Check whether the guest has been moved from the queue to Show on stream.
- Shared video, a tab, or computer audio is missing: Check the audio option for the screen-share method you chose and, on Mac, Chrome’s Screen Recording permission.
If more than one source is silent, check each source separately. A working microphone does not establish that shared audio is being captured, or vice versa.
Fix a host microphone that viewers cannot hear
- Allow microphone access in the browser. Talk Studio is browser-based and requests device permission. If no permission prompt appears, click the lock icon next to the browser address bar, change the microphone permission for the site, then refresh if needed. Streamlabs’ getting-started guide lists Google Chrome or Safari among the browser requirements.
- Check Talk Studio’s mute control. Make sure you are not muted.
- Select the intended audio device. In Talk Studio, click the arrow beside Mute and choose the intended audio input and output device. If several devices are listed, check that the selected input is the microphone you are speaking into.
- Speak and check the result. If Talk Studio still does not capture your voice after permission, mute-state, and device checks, test the selected device and its browser access outside the live broadcast before changing unrelated stream settings.
The supported Talk Studio guidance establishes browser permission and device selection as checks; it does not establish that buying a new microphone will resolve silence.
Fix guest audio
- Find the guest in the queue.
- Move the guest to Show on stream.
- Ask the guest to confirm their own microphone is enabled and selected.
Streamlabs states: “A guest’s microphone will not sound until they are moved to Show on stream.” If the guest is already shown on stream, check their microphone and device selection rather than changing the host’s input.

Fix audio from a screen share or shared tab
- When choosing the screen-share method, enable Share System Audio or Share tab audio if that option is available for the selected method.
- On Mac, open System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and allow Chrome. Relaunch the browser if needed for the permission change to take effect.
- Share the content again and check whether the intended audio is now included.
The available Streamlabs screen-sharing guidance also says Talk Studio background-audio uploads accept MP3 and WAV. Do not assume another format is supported without checking the current product documentation.
Confirm YouTube is configured as a destination
- Open Profile Picture > Account Settings > Destinations and check that YouTube has been added.
- When going live, select YouTube among the destinations for the broadcast.
A missing or unselected destination does not by itself prove an audio-routing fault. It is still worth checking that YouTube is configured and selected when diagnosing what is being broadcast.

If your workflow uses Streamlabs Desktop instead
Talk Studio and Streamlabs Desktop are different products. The following checks come from Streamlabs Desktop support guidance; they are not verified Talk Studio controls. Use them only if Desktop is part of your capture or streaming setup.
- Check the Desktop audio mixer for a muted source or device.
- Check whether audio-management software is changing or taking control of the selected device.
- On Windows, check whether exclusive-mode settings are preventing another application from using the audio device.
- For Desktop capture, manually select the intended desktop audio device rather than relying on automatic selection.
When local audio works but YouTube is still silent
If Talk Studio’s local source meters or a recording indicate that audio is present but the YouTube audience still hears silence, the checks above do not establish the cause. The available Talk Studio guidance does not specify YouTube Studio stream-health or playback diagnostics for this exact symptom. Check current YouTube diagnostics separately before applying platform-specific fixes.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a different use case—keeping uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube stream—StreamNeo runs the stream in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. It is not a fix for Talk Studio microphone or screen-share audio settings, and it plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera.
- Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live.
- Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card.
