If a webpage PDF contains only the first screen, open the browser’s Print preview and check whether the missing content is absent there or only in the saved file. Confirm the page range includes all pages, then save through the browser’s PDF destination. The preview tells you which troubleshooting path to take; no extension is needed as the first step.
First, find out where the page gets cut off
- With the webpage open, open Print: use Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac. In Firefox, you can also choose Menu > Print.
- Inspect the preview and its page count. Scroll through the preview if possible; do not judge completeness from the webpage’s visible viewport.
- Check that the Pages setting includes all pages, not a selected range. Choose a PDF destination—Firefox documents Save to PDF—and save.
- Open the PDF in a viewer. Check its page count and whether the last expected paragraph or section is present.

If the preview is already incomplete
The problem occurs before the PDF is saved. It may involve the webpage or its print layout, a page-rendering issue, or a setting such as the selected page range. Try the simpler rendering and site-isolation steps below.
If the preview is complete but the saved PDF is not
Retry saving to the browser’s built-in PDF destination, then open the new file in a PDF viewer and compare its page count with the preview. If the mismatch persists, test another webpage and another application to narrow down whether the problem follows the site, browser, or system. The available guidance does not establish one universal cause for a preview/file mismatch.

Separate missing content from missing appearance
Text missing below the first screen is different from text that is present while backgrounds or images are absent. Background printing affects visual appearance; it does not restore lower-page text that is missing altogether.
- Backgrounds or colors are missing: In Edge, enable Background graphics under More settings. Firefox offers Print backgrounds in its print settings.
- Content is clipped at page edges or breaks awkwardly: Adjust paper size, orientation, margins, or scale while watching the preview. Edge documents default, none, minimum, and custom margins, along with scale controls. Scaling can make text harder to read, so check both page breaks and readability.
- Text stops after the first screen: Verify the page range and continue with the rendering and isolation checks below; turning on backgrounds is not the fix for truncated text.

Try a simpler version of the webpage
A site’s print styling can change how its content appears on paper or in a PDF. Firefox notes that webpages may be set up to look different when printed, and CSS supports print-specific behavior. If the issue occurs on one site, compare the original print preview with a simplified or reading-mode version.
- Firefox: Choose Simplified format in print preview when it is available. Firefox notes that its background-print setting cannot be selected in Simplified format.
- Microsoft Edge: Try opening the page in Immersive Reader, then print the plainer version. It is not available for every website.

Isolate the site, browser, and system
- Test another webpage or online document in the same browser with the same settings. If that prints fully, the original page or document—or its print styling—may be involved.
- Test a document in another application. If it also fails there, investigate the printer driver, hardware, Windows, or connectivity. If other applications print correctly, the browser may be involved, though a driver can affect Edge differently from other programs.
- For an Edge preview error, retry the preview and restart Edge. Microsoft also suggests trying another printer when preview reports an error and checking that the built-in PDF viewer is present for a particular preview failure. These are targeted checks for matching symptoms, not a universal fix for first-screen-only files.
- Record what happened: note the browser and operating system, the website or document, whether the preview itself was incomplete, and whether another page or application printed correctly. Microsoft asks users reporting print issues to include the site or document, steps taken, and printer.
