You can run a 24/7 YouTube study music stream from India with OBS by connecting OBS to a YouTube encoder stream, adding music and a visual, and keeping the computer and a stable upload connection running continuously. Before going live, enable live streaming, confirm you have rights to every track for YouTube live use, and test the stream privately. For a continuous channel without a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative described below.

What you need before starting

  • A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it before your planned launch. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance explains the requirements.
  • A computer capable of running OBS continuously, a reliable power source, and a stable internet connection with enough sustained upload capacity for the chosen stream bitrate.
  • Music you are authorized to broadcast live on YouTube, plus a still image or other visual you have permission to use.
  • OBS Studio and access to YouTube Studio to create or schedule an encoder stream.

The standard OBS and YouTube setup applies to creators in India, but there is no single upload speed or ISP that can be recommended for every Indian location. Measure your connection under realistic conditions and choose settings accordingly.

Check music rights before building the stream

You are responsible for having the rights needed to exploit live content on Google services worldwide, including applicable music licensing rights. A subscription to a music service or permission to listen to a track does not by itself establish the right to rebroadcast it as a YouTube live stream. YouTube’s livestream terms place this responsibility on the creator.

YouTube may detect third-party material during a live broadcast. It can replace the live content with a placeholder and interrupt or terminate the stream; even if you have a license, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel for Content ID. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams. YouTube Creator Music licensed or revenue-sharing tracks described in its usage program are not cleared for use in a live stream; do not treat that program as permission for this format. Review Creator Music usage details before choosing any music.

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Professional Studio Monitor Headphones, Black
  • Advanced build quality and engineering; Designed for studio tracking and mixing
  • 40 mm drivers with rare earth magnets and copper clad aluminum wire voice coils
  • Tuned for enhanced low frequency performance
  • Circumaural design contours around the ears for excellent sound isolation in loud environments
  • Convenient single side cable exit

Keep records of licenses and permissions, including the permitted platform, territories, live broadcasts, replay archives, and any required Content ID allowlisting. If the terms do not explicitly cover live YouTube use, do not assume the track is cleared.

Enable YouTube Live and create an encoder stream

  1. Sign in to the channel in YouTube Studio and complete any verification or activation prompts required to enable live streaming. Allow up to 24 hours if this is the channel’s first activation.
  2. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live, then create or schedule a stream and choose the encoder workflow.
  3. Set the stream’s title, description, visibility, and other details. Use private or unlisted visibility for the initial test rather than publishing an untested broadcast.
  4. Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key from the stream settings. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it can send an encoder feed to your stream. Do not publish it, share it in a screenshot, or include it in a public document. You can manage keys in YouTube’s live stream settings.

Set up OBS with the music and visual

  1. Install and open OBS Studio, then select Tools → Auto-Configuration Wizard. Follow the prompts to optimize OBS for streaming based on your computer and connection. OBS’s Quick Start Guide also recommends testing before your first real stream.
  2. In the Sources panel, add a visual source, such as an image file you have permission to use. To create movement, you can add a permitted looped visual source, but avoid effects that consume more computer resources than necessary.
  3. Add the authorized music as an audio source. For a playlist, use a reliable player or media source that can repeat the files; check that playback advances and loops as expected. Confirm the audio source appears in the Audio Mixer and that its meter moves while the music plays.
  4. In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube if available, or configure the YouTube server URL and stream key from Studio. Keep the key private.
  5. Open Settings → Output and choose a video bitrate that your measured, sustained upload can support. In Settings → Video, select a resolution and frame rate appropriate to the visual and your hardware. Do not select high-resolution settings just because they are available: greater output bitrate uses more upload bandwidth.
  6. Review the stream preview in YouTube Studio before publishing. Confirm the image, audio level, stream health, and watch-page access at the intended visibility.

Exact OBS menus can vary slightly by version and operating system. The key configuration is the YouTube destination and key, a working video scene, audible authorized music, and output settings that remain stable on your equipment and connection.

Choose bitrate and upload capacity for a continuous stream

Plan around sustained upload speed, not download speed. YouTube says the total bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends about 20% bandwidth headroom beyond the aggregate stream bitrate. OBS suggests starting at 75% of total upload speed when troubleshooting connection problems; that is a troubleshooting guide, not a YouTube requirement or a guarantee for a particular Indian ISP. See YouTube’s streaming tips and OBS’s connection troubleshooting guidance.

  • Bass Sound: Enjoy clear sound and superior comfort with the OneOdio Studio Monitor Headphones. Equipped with large 50mm speaker drivers and neodymium magnets, pro-10 deliver powerful bass, clear vocals, and crisp highs for a balanced stereo sound.
  • Built for Comfort: The soft, padded ear cushions are designed to provide long-lasting comfort and effective noise isolation. The adjustable, stretchable headband allows you to easily find the perfect fit and angle for your listening pleasure.
  • Single-side Monitoring: The 90° swiveling ear cups allow for single-ear monitoring, making it ideal for DJing or mixing. The self-adjusting and flexible headband ensures a fatigue-free listening experience, even during extended sessions, making these headphones perfect for mastering and mixing.
  • Compatibility: Pro-10 wired headphones work exclusively in wired mode and are compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, desktop computers, audio interfaces, DJ mixers, amplifiers, and any device that features either a 3.5mm or 6.35mm audio jack.
  • Share Audio Port: With a shared audio port, easily connect another pair to share music or videos—no splitters or special cables needed.

For example, if OBS is sending a 4 Mbps video stream and 160 Kbps of audio, the aggregate is about 4.16 Mbps. Applying YouTube’s 20% headroom guidance means planning for roughly 5 Mbps of sustained available upload, before accounting for other household or office traffic. This is a planning illustration, not a recommended bitrate for every resolution or a guarantee that an ISP will maintain that speed.

  • Measure upload speed at the computer and at the times you expect to stream; a one-time speed-test result does not establish 24-hour stability.
  • Start with a conservative bitrate and resolution, then monitor dropped frames and YouTube stream health during a test. Lower the bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain the feed.
  • Use Ethernet where practical and avoid saturating the same connection with backups, downloads, or other high-bandwidth activity. These are practical reliability measures, not mandatory YouTube rules.
  • Leave headroom for normal fluctuations. If your connection repeatedly dips below the stream’s aggregate bitrate, OBS cannot compensate by itself; reduce output demand or improve the connection.

Test the stream, then operate it continuously

  1. Start OBS streaming while the YouTube event is private or unlisted. Wait for the encoder preview and stream-health indicators in YouTube Studio.
  2. Open the watch page on another device and verify that the stream can be accessed with the selected visibility, the picture is correct, and the music is audible at a sensible level.
  3. Let the test run for several minutes. Check OBS for dropped frames or disconnects, listen for silence or clipping, and confirm the playlist or loop continues rather than stopping after one track.
  4. Test your recovery procedure before relying on the stream. YouTube recommends testing failover and monitoring audio and video quality; for a continuous operation, consider a backup encoder, reliable power and network, and a clear restart and monitoring plan. These are operational precautions, not guarantees of uptime or mandatory platform requirements. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
  5. When the test is clean, change visibility or start the scheduled public event as intended. Keep OBS, the computer, and the internet connection running; a local OBS broadcast stops if the computer or connection goes down.

YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. A 24/7 stream exceeds that threshold, so do not assume YouTube will create a complete full-day archive of a continuous broadcast. If you need recordings, plan and test a separate recording workflow, storage capacity, and rights coverage for archived playback. See YouTube’s encoder live-stream guide.

Monetization and channel expectations

Live ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships may be available depending on channel eligibility and feature availability, but ad delivery is not guaranteed. Check YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance for the requirements that apply to your channel. Monetization does not remove the obligation to clear music rights.

Common problems and fixes

YouTube does not let the channel go live

Check that the channel is verified, live streaming is enabled, and there is no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. For first-time activation, allow up to 24 hours after enabling the feature.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

OBS connects, but YouTube shows no preview

Confirm the correct YouTube event is open, the matching stream URL and key are entered in OBS, and the key has not been replaced or mistyped. If you generated a new key, update OBS to use it. Keep the key private.

OBS reports dropped frames or the stream disconnects

Check sustained upload speed, other network use, and YouTube stream health. Reduce bitrate or resolution until the connection has adequate headroom. OBS’s 75%-of-upload starting point is troubleshooting guidance, not a fixed target; follow OBS’s troubleshooting steps.

The picture works but the music is silent or distorted

Check the Audio Mixer meter, confirm the intended source is active and unmuted, and listen from the YouTube watch page on another device. Lower levels if the sound clips; ensure the media source or player continues through the playlist.

The stream is interrupted for a copyright match

Stop using the matched material and review the notice. A license may not cover live YouTube use or the relevant territory, and the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel. Do not evade a match by switching to another uncleared version of the same track.

The stream stops when the computer is shut down

That is expected for a local OBS encoder: the computer is producing and sending the feed. Keep the machine, OBS, power, and connection available, or use a cloud service designed to continue streaming uploaded videos while your local computer is off.

Or let it run in the cloud

For a YouTube channel that plays uploaded study music and visuals continuously, StreamNeo runs the loop in the cloud rather than requiring your home computer to stay on. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube.

  • Nothing needs to stay on at home: the stream continues from the cloud when your computer is off.
  • Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
  • Automatic recovery is available if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card required; it is one free day per account.
  • Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.

Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops, and support from the StreamNeo team.
