To move a prerecorded YouTube Live loop from a local OBS setup to Gyre, prepare the channel and videos, upload them to Gyre, configure a new cloud broadcast, then test it in YouTube Live Control Room before changing your public schedule. The switch changes where the stream is encoded and sent: OBS uses your computer and internet connection; Gyre’s documented workflow sends uploaded videos from its cloud service. Don’t assume an existing OBS broadcast automatically converts.

What changes when you switch from OBS to Gyre?

Decision Local OBS loop Gyre cloud loop
Where the stream runs OBS encodes on your computer and sends the stream to YouTube using its stream URL and key. YouTube’s encoder overview You upload files and Gyre’s servers send the broadcast. Gyre’s setup information
Computer and home connection The computer running OBS and its upload connection need to remain available while it streams. Gyre says the computer is not needed for its cloud broadcast. Gyre
Looping and scheduling Depends on how your existing OBS setup is configured and operated. Gyre lists playlist looping and scheduling; availability depends on plan. Gyre pricing
Monetization Depends on your channel and stream settings; don’t assume eligibility or revenue. Gyre says monetization of API-created broadcasts depends on a YouTube Studio setting. Gyre

A cloud encoder removes the need for your local machine to send the broadcast, but you should still inspect the resulting stream in YouTube. YouTube recommends testing and previewing streams; its network guidance recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom for an encoder-based stream. YouTube streaming tips

Check YouTube eligibility before migrating

  • Your channel must be verified and must not have live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube: Get started with live streaming
  • If live streaming is being enabled for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours.
  • Keep a copy of the source videos and note the current stream’s title, description, thumbnail, privacy setting, and schedule. This gives you a reference when configuring the replacement broadcast.
  • Check that you have the rights to the video, music, and other material you plan to stream. YouTube’s copyright and monetization decisions are separate from the choice of encoder; a cloud host does not grant rights or guarantee monetization.

Move the loop from OBS to Gyre

  1. Prepare the channel and assets. Confirm live-stream eligibility, retain source files, and record the details of the existing YouTube broadcast. Choose whether the test should be private or unlisted before going public.
  2. Upload the videos to Gyre. Add the recordings you want in the loop to Gyre storage. Check file limits and storage against your chosen plan before uploading.
  3. Create and order a playlist. Arrange the uploaded files in the order you want them to play. Verify the loop and scheduling options available on your plan. Gyre setup information
  4. Connect the intended YouTube channel. Follow Gyre’s channel-connection flow and check that it is the channel you want to broadcast from. Treat this as a new stream configuration, not a conversion of OBS’s existing encoder session.
  5. Configure the broadcast and schedule. Set the stream details and intended start time in Gyre. Compare the plan’s concurrency, resolution and frame-rate limits, storage, playlist, and scheduler access with your requirements. Gyre plans
  6. Test before moving the audience-facing schedule. Start a test, open YouTube Live Control Room, inspect the preview, and check audio and video. YouTube advises testing and previewing before a broadcast. YouTube streaming tips
  7. Switch over deliberately. Once the test looks right, schedule or start the Gyre broadcast and update the public schedule or links as needed. Avoid leaving two broadcasts running unintentionally.
  8. Check monetization separately if relevant. Gyre says monetization for API-created broadcasts relies on a YouTube Studio setting and may be off if that setting is not enabled. Confirm the setting and the stream’s status in YouTube Studio rather than assuming it carried over. Gyre

Common migration problems and what to check

  • You can’t start a YouTube live stream: verify the channel, check for live-stream restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
  • The preview is missing or wrong: confirm that Gyre is connected to the intended channel and that the configured broadcast is the one open in Live Control Room. Run another test before changing the public schedule.
  • Video or audio is not as expected: inspect the preview and playback, then check the uploaded source files and playlist order. Do not treat a successful upload as proof that the live output is correct.
  • The stream stops or cannot be scheduled as intended: review the plan’s stream capacity and whether playlist or scheduler features are included. Check the current plan page because vendor features may change.
  • Monetization is off: check the relevant YouTube Studio setting and the stream’s monetization status; it may not be enabled automatically for an API-created broadcast.
  • India checkout differs from the listed amount: the captured prices are USD list prices, not a verified local quote. Review the final checkout currency, payment options, and taxes before purchase.
