You can use FFmpeg to send a Hindi songs playlist to YouTube Live continuously, but a loop alone does not make a stream unattended: you still need music rights, a stable host and connection, process monitoring, and a recovery plan. First enable YouTube Live and secure the channel’s rights to every recording and composition; then configure an FFmpeg workflow for your actual media and installed build, and test it with an unlisted stream before relying on it.

Before you start: enable Live and clear the music rights

Enable YouTube Live early

In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or schedule a stream. If the channel has never streamed before, YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours. Do this well ahead of launch. In the scheduled-stream workflow, YouTube instructs you to wait for the encoder preview and then click Go live. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.

Confirm you can broadcast every song

A Hindi songs playlist needs rights for both the sound recordings and the underlying compositions. Buying a track or being allowed to listen to it does not by itself grant livestream rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; a detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, and if the matched content remains, YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license may still not prevent an interruption unless the rights owner has allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its livestream terms and conditions.

Use music you created or commissioned with documented rights, or obtain permissions that explicitly cover the intended livestream, territories, recordings, compositions, and any archive. For third-party licensed music, ask the rights owner to confirm Content ID allowlisting before you go live. YouTube’s terms put responsibility on the content provider to hold necessary rights, including music licensing rights.

Connect FFmpeg to YouTube safely

Get the ingest URL and key from Live Control Room

In your stream’s encoder settings, copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube; do not guess or reuse an address from an old tutorial. For an encrypted connection, select or copy the RTMPS URL provided in Live Control Room. RTMPS is RTMP carried over TLS/SSL. Google’s RTMPS ingestion documentation specifies a valid YouTube endpoint and hostname, port 443, and the right hostname for TLS Server Name Indication (SNI).

Protect the stream key

Treat the key as a credential that lets an encoder send video to your channel. Do not publish it in a command, screenshot, repository, or logs. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder. YouTube describes stream keys as the encoder’s address/password in its stream setup guidance.

Build and test the FFmpeg playlist workflow

Why there is no universal copy-and-paste command

The YouTube setup materials explain encoder configuration and ingest, not a canonical FFmpeg playlist syntax or process-restart recipe. The right implementation depends on your installed FFmpeg version, the playlist format, file codecs and timestamps, whether you re-encode or stream-copy, and whether FFmpeg runs on a home computer or hosted machine. Verify any loop, concat, timestamp, and reconnect options against the documentation for your installed build; do not treat an unverified command as a production-ready recipe.

Use this implementation sequence

  1. Prepare the media. Organize the audio and any accompanying visuals into a playlist workflow that your FFmpeg build can read. Check that file formats, durations, and timestamps behave as expected at transitions.
  2. Configure the output. Use the RTMPS server URL and key from Live Control Room. Choose encoding or stream-copy behavior based on the source media and the requirements of your workflow; validate the resulting audio and video rather than assuming every file is compatible.
  3. Run a private test. Set the YouTube stream visibility to unlisted or private as appropriate, connect FFmpeg, and inspect the preview and stream health in Live Control Room before clicking Go live for a scheduled event.
  4. Exercise the failure cases. Test playlist boundaries, a dropped network connection, an FFmpeg process exit, and a manual restart. Confirm how an operator will detect each failure and recover it; a loop flag does not restart a crashed process or repair a lost connection by itself.
  5. Check the recording path. If you need a local archive, record and inspect a test file. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video and verifying local archive files; an outgoing live feed does not prove that a local recording is healthy.

Choose where FFmpeg will run and how you will recover it

Local computer

A computer at home gives you direct control over FFmpeg and the playlist, but continuity depends on that machine, its power, and its internet connection. Plan how to monitor the process and restart it after an exit or interruption. A UPS may help with local power interruptions, but it is optional equipment, not a YouTube or FFmpeg requirement.

Hosted machine

A VPS or other hosted machine moves the encoder away from your home computer and connection, but it does not remove the need to supervise FFmpeg, protect the stream key, or plan for connection and process failures. No specific hosting provider, price, or reliability level is established here; compare monitoring, restart behavior, recording options, and access to stream health before choosing one.

What every setup still needs

  • A way to detect a stalled or disconnected stream and notify an operator.
  • A documented restart or recovery procedure for both FFmpeg and the host.
  • A protected stream key and an orderly process for rotating it if exposed.
  • Rights for all music regardless of where the encoder runs; hosting does not prevent Content ID matches.

Plan for YouTube’s archive limit

YouTube says live streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 broadcast therefore should not be expected to yield a complete YouTube replay. If a full program archive matters, record locally or design separate shorter broadcasts and account for the restart and watch-page continuity trade-offs. See YouTube’s archive live streams guidance.

Common problems and fixes

Symptom Likely cause What to check
YouTube does not show an incoming preview Live streaming is not enabled yet, or the server URL/key is incorrect. Allow for first-time enablement, then recopy the URL and key from the correct stream’s Live Control Room settings.
The encrypted connection fails The URL, endpoint, port, or TLS hostname does not match YouTube’s RTMPS ingest requirements. Use the RTMPS address supplied by Live Control Room and check the endpoint and hostname requirements in Google’s RTMPS documentation.
The stream starts but stops at a playlist transition A file, timestamp, codec, or playlist-boundary behavior is incompatible with the chosen FFmpeg workflow. Test each transition with the installed FFmpeg build and inspect the relevant input files and output logs.
The stream does not resume after a disconnect A loop does not itself provide a supervisor, network recovery, or process restart. Test connection loss and process exit separately, then add monitoring and a defined operator or supervisor recovery procedure.
YouTube interrupts the broadcast A live Content ID match may have been detected. Review YouTube’s live copyright guidance and resolve the rights issue with the owner, including channel allowlisting where applicable.
The YouTube replay is incomplete or missing A 24/7 stream exceeds YouTube’s stated automatic-archive window. Use a verified local recording path or plan shorter separate broadcasts if a complete archive is essential.
