A regular YouTube playlist is edited on YouTube; a cloud stream’s media playlist is edited in the service that runs the broadcast. YouTube’s playlist controls let you remove and reorder items, while Gyre says its playlist can be changed during a running stream. That does not establish when the replacement will play, so check the service dashboard and the YouTube watch page rather than assuming it starts immediately.
Identify the playlist that feeds what you want to change
A native YouTube playlist is a collection managed on YouTube. A cloud playout service’s playlist is the set of uploaded videos that the service sends continuously to a YouTube live event. Editing one does not necessarily change the other: if the goal is to replace what viewers see in a running broadcast, edit the playlist assigned to that broadcast in the cloud service.
Gyre is one example of a service for continuous prerecorded-video streams. It describes uploading media, arranging it into a looping playlist, and changing a playlist while its stream is running. That vendor statement does not establish the controls or behavior of other services.
Replace a video in a regular YouTube playlist
- Open the playlist on YouTube.
- Beside the video you want to replace, select More, then choose Remove from [PLAYLIST NAME].
- Add the replacement video to the playlist using YouTube’s playlist controls.
- Drag the replacement into the position you want if the sequence matters.
YouTube documents removing a video or Short from a playlist and dragging items to reorder them. This edits the YouTube playlist; it is not documented as a way to change the media currently playing in a separate cloud live broadcast. YouTube Help: Edit playlists – Computer.

Replace media in a running cloud playout stream
- Confirm which cloud service operates the broadcast and identify the playlist assigned to the active stream.
- In that service, add or select the replacement media in its library.
- Use the service’s currently available controls to edit the playlist associated with the active stream, then save or apply the change.
- Check the playlist and stream status in the service dashboard, then check the YouTube watch page to confirm the broadcast is still live and the change is reflected as expected.
Gyre says a playlist can be changed on a running stream without rebuilding the broadcast. Its public material does not establish the exact dashboard controls or whether the replacement begins immediately, after the current video, or at another point. Treat the transition timing as service-specific and verify it instead of promising an immediate switch. Gyre: full live stream automation via the YouTube API.
Do not confuse a playlist edit with ending or redirecting a live stream
Changing a cloud playlist is distinct from stopping the encoder feed. YouTube’s encoder guidance says to end a stream by stopping content sent from the encoder; it does not say a playlist edit requires ending the broadcast. For Gyre’s described workflow, the vendor says the playlist can be changed while the stream is active. Avoid ending the stream unless your service’s current controls or a technical problem require it. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Live Redirect is a separate feature, not an in-stream video replacement control. It sends viewers to a Premiere or another live stream after the current stream ends. YouTube lists eligibility requirements including more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. YouTube Help: How to use YouTube Live Redirect.
If the replacement does not appear
- The wrong content changed: Check whether you edited the YouTube playlist or the cloud service’s playlist assigned to the active stream.
- The service still shows the old playlist: Confirm that you saved or applied the edit and that you changed the playlist associated with the running broadcast.
- The stream is live, but the new video has not started: The available Gyre material does not specify the transition point. Check the playlist state and YouTube watch page, and consult the service’s current help or support for its playback behavior.
- You are considering ending the stream to force the change: Do not treat that as a standard requirement. Verify the service’s instructions first; ending the encoder feed is a separate operation and may interrupt the broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a YouTube stream made from uploaded recordings, StreamNeo offers another cloud playout option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops the uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. Each slot streams the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it also includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream.
