To capture a product page without a cookie banner covering it, inspect the banner in Chrome or Firefox Developer Tools, hide its selected page element, then take a screenshot of the product area or page. Hiding the element only changes the visible rendering; it does not accept or reject cookies. If the screenshot is meant to document what a visitor actually saw, leave the banner visible or make a real consent choice through the site’s controls.
Choose what the screenshot should represent
“Dismissed” can mean three different things. Decide which one you need before editing the page:
- Show the visitor view: Leave the banner visible and capture the page as it appears.
- Show the result of a consent choice: Use the website’s accept, reject, or preferences controls, then capture the resulting page. Available choices vary by site.
- Make an unobstructed visual: Hide the banner’s DOM element in Developer Tools and capture the page. This creates a modified rendering, so do not present it as an unaltered record of the visitor experience.
Removing a banner visually is not a cookie-management action. Deleting stored cookies is separate, and does not guarantee that a banner will stay away; Chrome documents cookie inspection and deletion in its DevTools cookie guide.
Chrome: hide the banner and capture the product
- Open the product page in Chrome. Right-click the banner and choose Inspect to open Developer Tools with the relevant element selected in the Elements panel.
- Check that the highlighted DOM node represents the banner or overlay, not a larger page container. In the Elements panel, press H to hide the selected node. Press H again to restore it. Chrome documents this hide/show shortcut in its DOM panel guide.
- Capture the desired scope. For a product image or information block, right-click its DOM node and choose the node screenshot command. Chrome’s node screenshot feature can include the selected element’s content below the viewport; see its node screenshot documentation.
- For a screenshot of the current visible viewport, use Chrome’s capture command in the DevTools command menu. The cited Chrome documentation establishes node screenshots, but not one universal full-page workflow for every Chrome version or page; avoid assuming the same full-page steps apply everywhere.
If hiding the selected node removes too much or too little, restore it with H, inspect a more specific banner element, and hide that instead. Reloading the page restores its initial rendered state.
Firefox: capture a page or a selected product element
- Open Developer Tools and select the banner in the Inspector. Use the node hide control to hide the selected element; the referenced how-to also describes pressing H to toggle its visibility.
- To capture a selected element, right-click its entry in the Inspector HTML pane and choose Screenshot Node.
- To enable a full-page screenshot control, open Developer Tools settings, find Available Toolbox Buttons, and check Take a screenshot of the entire page. Use the resulting toolbar button to capture the full page.
Mozilla’s Firefox screenshot documentation covers full-page and selected-element captures. Reloading restores the page’s initial rendering.
Pick the right capture scope

For a comparison image focused on the product, a selected-node capture avoids including unrelated page content. For a record of the whole shopping experience, capture the full page and retain the banner or record the real consent choice instead of hiding it.

Keep a modified screenshot honest
Hiding a node changes what the page renders, but does not record a consent choice or prove what an ordinary visitor saw. If the image will be used as evidence, preserve an unaltered capture as well, or clearly identify the banner-hidden image as a modified rendering. Use the site’s own controls when the intended image should reflect an actual consent outcome.
Troubleshooting
- The whole page or product section disappears: You likely selected a parent container rather than the banner itself. Restore the node with H and inspect a narrower element.
- The banner returns after reload: Reloading restores the page’s original rendered state. Hiding a node is a temporary visual change, not saved consent.
- The banner remains after hiding one element: The visible notice may be made of multiple nodes, or another overlay may cover it. Inspect the remaining visible portion and identify its own element before hiding anything else.
- The screenshot omits content below the fold: A viewport capture only covers what is visible. Use Firefox’s enabled full-page button, or capture the specific product node with a node screenshot feature where supported.
- You need the banner gone on later visits: Use the site’s consent choices rather than relying on Developer Tools or cookie deletion. Cookie storage behavior is site-dependent.
