Each URL then becomes its own bundle. Save and activate the scenario to run it automatically; scheduling determines when it starts, while the Iterator determines how it handles multiple pages.
What you need and how the workflow fits together
- A Make scenario and a schedule that suits how often you need captures.
- A source of page URLs, such as a scenario input or a module that returns an array.
- A screenshot action. Make lists GetScreenshot actions for webpage screenshots and element screenshots; its connection requires a GetScreenshot account and API key.
- A destination for the screenshots, such as a file store or a notification service.
The basic route is URL source → Iterator → screenshot action → destination. The Iterator turns each item in the URL array into a separate bundle, so the screenshot module can map the current bundle’s URL. The schedule does not loop through the URLs by itself.
Build the scenario
- Prepare the URL list. Choose a Make module or scenario input that provides an array of URLs. Use one URL per array item. Decide whether to remove blank entries and duplicates before capture so the scenario does not waste operations or create unwanted files.
- Set the schedule. In the Scenario Builder, open the schedule control on the toolbar and choose a cadence, such as daily, weekly, monthly, a regular interval, or specified dates. The minimum interval depends on your Make plan. Make also supports on-demand scheduling, which waits for an API call or a manual Run once rather than recurring automatically. - Read the URLs. Add the source module that returns the array. If you parse JSON and the mapping panel does not yet show the array or URL field, run the upstream module once so Make can learn the output structure.
- Split the array. Add Tools > Iterator after the array-producing module. In the Iterator’s Array field, map the URL array. The Iterator emits a separate bundle for each array item; downstream modules run for each bundle. See Make’s Iterator documentation.
- Capture the current page. Add GetScreenshot > Take Screenshot after the Iterator and map the current bundle’s URL to the webpage URL field. For a specific part of a page, use Take Element Screenshot and provide a selector. Make’s GetScreenshot app documentation is marked AI-generated and advises confirming important details with the vendor, so check its current connection and field labels when configuring it. - Save or distribute each result. Connect the screenshot output to the file store, database, or notification module you chose. Map a filename or record key that identifies the page and capture date if you need to distinguish recurring captures.
- Test with a short list, then activate. Choose Run once with a small set of URLs. Inspect the Iterator bundles, screenshot output, and destination mapping. Save the scenario and activate it when the test is correct. The Make Help Center says, “Active scenarios run periodically according to their defined schedule.” Inactive scenarios can be run manually for testing.
Choose a schedule that matches the job
Make documents regular intervals, one-time runs, daily schedules (including multiple times per day), weekdays, weekly and monthly schedules, specified dates, and on-demand scheduling. The interval minimum depends on the plan. Choose based on how quickly the pages change and how many URLs you process, rather than scheduling more frequently than you need. The scheduler’s options and plan-dependent intervals are described in Make’s scheduling guide.
Make’s onboarding guide provides illustrative trigger-only usage calculations: every five minutes is 288 credits per day and 8,640 operations per month; every hour is 24 credits per day and 720 operations per month; once daily is 30 credits per month. The guide’s publication year is not stated in the retrieved documentation. These are examples for the trigger module, not a quote for a complete screenshot workflow: scenario consumption also depends on processed data and module complexity. Keep multi-page captures manageable
Handle missing and repeated URLs deliberately
Filter out empty URL values before the Iterator if your source can contain blanks. If the same page may appear more than once, deduplicate upstream or accept that each occurrence becomes a separate capture bundle.
Aggregate only when you need a combined collection
Usually, send each screenshot to its destination as its bundle is processed. If a later step needs one combined array, add Make’s Array Aggregator. Select the values downstream steps need in the aggregator’s aggregated fields: values produced between the source and aggregator are not automatically available afterward. When URLs come from an API
If the source returns paginated records, Make’s newer HTTP app supports built-in pagination. That matters when the URL list is too large to arrive in one response; it is not necessary for a short, fixed list. Make’s HTTP app announcement.
GetScreenshot app or a custom HTTP request?
Use Make’s GetScreenshot app for the most direct route when its actions fit your capture need: its listing documents webpage and element screenshots, and the connection requires a GetScreenshot account and API key. If your preferred capture provider has no Make integration, Make documents its HTTP app as a way to connect to services through API requests; credentials can be stored in its secure keychain. Make’s published materials do not establish a neutral performance or price comparison between these routes. Compare the setup effort, page-versus-element capture, credentials, output handling, service limits, and ongoing charges for your chosen provider before committing.
Troubleshooting
- The screenshot action runs only once. Check that the action is downstream of the Iterator and that the Iterator’s Array field contains the URL array, not a single URL value.
- The URL does not appear in the mapping panel. Run the source or parser module once to expose its output structure, then reopen the mapping panel and select the URL from the Iterator’s current item.
- The scenario does not run on schedule. Confirm that you saved the schedule and activated the scenario. An inactive scenario is appropriate for manual runs, not recurring execution.
- Some pages are missing downstream. Inspect the source output and each Iterator bundle. Check for blank or malformed URL values and review the screenshot module’s error output for the affected bundle.
- Fields disappear after aggregation. In the Array Aggregator, add the required intermediate values to the aggregated fields so downstream modules receive them.
- The HTTP request fails or returns an unexpected result. Verify the provider’s endpoint, authentication, required parameters, response format, and rate limits in its current API documentation. Make’s generic HTTP guidance cannot establish provider-specific details.
- The scenario uses more Make operations than expected. Count the schedule trigger and the modules executed for each URL, then account for other processing in the scenario. Make’s trigger-only examples are not the total cost for this workflow.
