YouTube has separate controls for repeating one episode and repeating the entire podcast playlist, so check both if the same episode keeps playing.
First, check what is repeating
YouTube treats a podcast show as a playlist and each episode as a video. That means the current episode can repeat on its own, or the whole playlist can repeat. Check the control for the individual video as well as the playlist’s Loop or Repeat control.
Turn off repeat on Android
- Open the episode on its watch screen.
- Tap Settings → Additional settings → Loop video and turn Loop video off.
- Check the playlist controls beneath the video. If the playlist Loop icon shows a “1,” the current episode is set to repeat. Tap the icon again to cycle its state, and make sure the playlist is not set to repeat either.
Turn off repeat on a computer
- For the individual episode, right-click the video player and click Loop to toggle it off.
- If the episode is playing from a podcast playlist, expand the playlist panel and check its separate Loop control. Turn off playlist looping if it is enabled.
Turn off repeat on a TV or game console
- While the episode is playing, press down on the remote or controller to open playback controls.
- Select Repeat until the current video is no longer set to repeat.
- Check the playlist repeat state separately; it controls the playlist rather than just the current episode.
If the same episode still plays
- Confirm the video is playing from the podcast playlist you intend to hear, rather than as a standalone video or from another playlist.
- Check the playlist’s episode order. Creators can edit a podcast’s default video order in YouTube Studio. YouTube recommends newest-to-oldest for episodic shows and oldest-to-newest for serial shows.
- If the controls or labels do not match these steps, the menu may differ in your app or device version. YouTube’s documented guidance covers Android, computer, and TV or console interfaces; exact placement can vary.
If repeat is disabled and the intended playlist and ordering are correct, YouTube’s published guidance does not establish a single cause for every report of an episode playing again. Check the controls and playlist first rather than assuming a particular app setting or behavior is responsible.
Or let it run in the cloud
For creators who want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded videos around the clock, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the upload at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
