For a one-off full-page screenshot, open Firefox’s Web Console and run :screenshot --fullpage. To automate the capture, use Playwright’s page.screenshot({ fullPage: true }). If you want a still image without CSS motion, Playwright can disable CSS animations, transitions, and Web Animations—but that setting does not guarantee a chosen frame from a GIF or video.
Choose a capture method

A full-page screenshot is still a single image: it shows a visual state, not motion itself. Decide whether you want to show an observed animation frame or make CSS-based motion settle before capturing.
Take a full-page screenshot manually in Firefox
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Open the Web Console in DevTools.
- Enter
:screenshot --fullpageand run the command. Firefox includes page areas outside the current window bounds. - Open the saved PNG and check that the content and animation state you need are visible.
To choose a filename, use the helper’s documented --filename option. Check the target name first: Mozilla warns that capturing to an existing filename overwrites it. The helper also documents --selector for capturing one element and --dpr for choosing a device pixel ratio. These are Web Console helper options, not necessarily options in Firefox’s ordinary screenshot menu. Consult Mozilla’s Web Console helper reference for the current syntax.

Capture the page as it appears
In a Playwright script, take a screenshot after navigating to the page:

Disable CSS-based animation for a steadier still
When a stable appearance matters more than preserving CSS motion, pass animations: 'disabled':

});For the page.screenshot API, the documented default is allow. With animation disabling enabled, Playwright fast-forwards finite CSS animations, CSS transitions, and Web Animations to completion. Infinite animations are canceled to their initial state for the screenshot and played over afterward. Do not confuse this API’s default with the separate screenshot assertion API, which documents disabled as its default. The details are in Playwright’s screenshot documentation.

Playwright documents animation handling for CSS animations, CSS transitions, and Web Animations. That does not establish that the option chooses a particular frame from an animated GIF, video, canvas animation, or every site-specific animation system.

- If you need a particular GIF or video moment, use the page’s own controls to pause or seek to it where available, then capture the page.
- If you need to preserve an animation as a moving image, a still screenshot is the wrong output format.
- After capturing, inspect the image for the desired frame or state. The cited screenshot options do not promise a specific result for every type of animated media.
Check the result and troubleshoot common issues
A full-page command or option requests the scrollable page; it does not by itself establish that every below-the-fold element has loaded or that fixed elements appear as you expect. Verify the saved image for lazy-loaded content, sticky or fixed elements, and the relevant animation state.

Does Playwright’s disabled animation option select a GIF or video frame?
Its documented behavior covers CSS animations, CSS transitions, and Web Animations. It does not establish frame selection for GIFs or videos.
