In desktop Chrome, open DevTools, turn on the Device Toolbar, then choose Capture screenshot for the visible area or Capture full size screenshot for the whole page. To include a cookie banner, capture before making a consent choice; to show the page after consent, use the site’s controls first. The banner’s behavior is controlled by the website, not by a universal Chrome setting.

Take the screenshot in desktop Chrome
- Open the webpage in Chrome and wait for the banner and the page content you need to appear.
- Open DevTools. On Windows or Linux, press Ctrl+Shift+J or F12. On Mac, press Command+Option+I. These shortcuts are listed in Chrome keyboard shortcuts.
- Enable the Device Toolbar in DevTools. This opens Device Mode, where you can set a viewport; it is also where Chrome’s screenshot commands are available.
- Open the Device Toolbar’s More options menu. Select Capture screenshot to save the visible viewport, or Capture full size screenshot to include the full page, including portions below or beyond the current viewport.
- Save and check the image. Confirm the banner is present or dismissed as intended, and that the capture includes the area you wanted.

Do not interact with the consent controls before capturing. If you already made a choice, the site may remember it, so opening or reloading the page may not restore the first-visit view.

To capture after a choice
Use the website’s own consent controls—such as accept, reject, or preferences—then capture the resulting page. Websites can handle those choices and store consent differently, so there is no universal Chrome setting that removes every banner.

You can delete data for that specific site and reload it. In Chrome, open cookie and site-data settings and remove the relevant site’s data. The exact result depends on the site’s storage and consent design; the banner may not behave identically on every site or reload.
Deleting cookies can sign you out of sites and remove saved preferences, as Chrome Help explains. Remove only the site’s data you need to test, and be prepared to sign in again or restore preferences.
Choose viewport or full-page capture
- Viewport capture: use Capture screenshot when the visible browser-sized area is the evidence or image you need. The result does not include page content outside the viewport.
- Full-page capture: use Capture full size screenshot when the image should include content beyond what is currently visible. This is useful for documenting a long page, but check that the banner remains visible in the resulting image if that is essential.
Device Mode can simulate a mobile viewport, but that is not the same as capturing the page on a physical phone.

Troubleshooting
- The banner is missing: you may already have a saved consent choice. Use the site’s controls to change it, or delete that site’s data and reload, bearing in mind that deleting cookies can sign you out and clear preferences.
- The capture shows only part of the page: choose Capture full size screenshot rather than Capture screenshot.
- The full-page capture does not show the banner as expected: confirm that the banner was visible before capture and check the saved image. The site controls how its banner appears and persists.
- You cannot find the capture commands: open DevTools’ Device Toolbar and use its More options menu.
