To stream a pre-recorded yoga playlist overnight on YouTube Live, send the videos in sequence through an encoder connected to a scheduled YouTube Live event. Before the broadcast, make sure the channel is eligible for live streaming, confirm you have rights to every video and audio track, and test the full sequence—including transitions and the watch page. An unattended stream can fail if its computer, encoder, power, or internet connection fails, so plan how you will monitor it.
Choose how to play the playlist
YouTube Live receives the broadcast from an encoder. For a do-it-yourself setup, use encoder software or hardware that can play your prerecorded videos in the intended order and send them to YouTube. YouTube’s encoder documentation also lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for continuous prerecorded-video streaming; confirm its current features and availability with the provider before choosing it. The platform documentation does not establish service-specific recovery, monitoring, scheduling, or cost details.
Prepare the channel and content
Check live-stream eligibility early
Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction within the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming well before the overnight broadcast rather than waiting until setup time. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
Confirm rights to the full playlist
Make sure you have the necessary rights to every class recording, music track, and other material in the broadcast. YouTube scans live video for third-party content matches; a match may result in a placeholder, interruption, or termination. If a rights holder has licensed content for your stream, YouTube says to ask them to allowlist your channel through Content ID. A license alone should not be treated as assurance that the live broadcast will proceed without a claim. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Check the playlist as a continuous program
- Put the classes in the desired order and verify that the encoder can continue from one file to the next without stopping the broadcast.
- Check audio levels and synchronization, transitions, and any gaps or unintended pauses.
- Confirm the total planned runtime. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not rely on that automatic archive behavior if the broadcast might exceed 12 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming archive guidance.
Schedule and connect the YouTube Live stream
- Schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and use the Manage tab to create or schedule the stream. Scheduling provides a watch page viewers can visit and lets them set a reminder. Follow YouTube’s guidance for scheduling a live stream.
- Choose or create stream settings. In Live Control Room, select the stream settings you intend to use. If your encoder supports YouTube’s automatic start and stop settings, confirm exactly how they behave with that encoder and test them before relying on them.
- Copy the connection details. Get the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room and enter them in the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not share or publish it, and reset it if it is exposed.
- Load and verify the playlist. Select the prerecorded files in the encoder, set their order and playback behavior, and confirm that the encoder is sending the intended video and audio to the scheduled event.
- Preview before going live. Check the Live Control Room preview and verify that the correct event, video, audio, and playlist sequence are present before starting the broadcast.
Test reliability before leaving the stream unattended
YouTube advises setting up the encoder well in advance, previewing the stream, and checking the event on the channel page, watch page, and a mobile device. Run a representative full-sequence test, including the transitions most likely to expose a playlist or encoder problem. Confirm that viewers can open the scheduled watch page and that sound and picture are correct.
- Upload capacity: The total streaming bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends leaving about 20% headroom. Network disruption can break a stream; its streaming tips warn that a connectivity disruption could mean a broken stream.
- Connection: Use a reliable network and monitor stream health. Ethernet is an optional setup choice for a computer encoder, not a YouTube requirement or a guarantee against failure.
- Transport: YouTube recommends RTMPS when the encoder supports it. Check the encoder’s settings and test the chosen connection before the event. See YouTube’s encoder streaming settings.
- Overnight monitoring: Decide how you will check the broadcast remotely and respond to an alert or interruption. Do not assume every encoder, computer, power, or internet failure will recover automatically; YouTube’s guidance emphasizes reliable connectivity and monitoring rather than promising universal unattended recovery.
Troubleshoot common overnight problems
The encoder cannot connect
Check that the stream URL and key were copied from the scheduled event and entered in the correct fields. If the key may have been exposed, reset it in YouTube and update the encoder. Confirm the encoder is configured for a connection method it supports, including RTMPS if available.

The preview is blank or shows the wrong content
Check that the encoder is sending to the intended scheduled event, that the correct playlist is loaded, and that the encoder is actively playing the files. Verify both picture and sound in the preview before starting.
The stream drops or becomes unstable
Check the internet connection and available upload bandwidth against the total stream bitrate, leaving YouTube’s recommended headroom. Review stream health and test again; a wired connection may be an option for a local encoder, but it does not eliminate network or equipment failures.

A copyright match interrupts the broadcast
Review the material and rights involved. If you are authorized to use the matched content, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel through Content ID; otherwise, remove or replace material you do not have permission to stream.
The archive is missing or incomplete
Check whether the stream exceeded 12 hours. YouTube’s automatic archive statement applies to streams under 12 hours, so do not count on the automatic archive for a longer run.
