To verify your phone number for YouTube live streaming, sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer and open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility → Intermediate features. Select VERIFY PHONE NUMBER, choose text or voice call, and enter the code YouTube sends. In India, you can also use YouTube’s browser flow at youtube.com/verify.
Verify your phone number in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio with the Google account for the channel you want to verify.
- Open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Under Intermediate features, select VERIFY PHONE NUMBER.
- Choose your country and enter a phone number that can receive a text message or voice call.
- Choose how to receive the code, then enter the verification code YouTube sends.
YouTube says it uses the number to send a verification code and help protect the community. A phone number can be associated with no more than two channels per year. See YouTube’s phone verification instructions.
Use the India browser verification flow
- Open youtube.com/verify in a browser and sign in if prompted.
- Choose how YouTube should send the verification code.
- Enter the six-digit code when it arrives.
YouTube also describes phone verification for India-based channels as a voluntary phone-verified label. The label appears on the channel’s About page and is visible to YouTube users in India. Completing phone verification also provides access to intermediate features; the label is not a separate substitute for live-stream eligibility. Details are in YouTube’s India phone-verification information.
What phone verification enables—and what it does not
Phone verification gives the channel access to intermediate features, including live streaming. It does not automatically remove every limit or satisfy every live-streaming requirement. YouTube’s feature-access information distinguishes limited computer live-streaming access after phone verification from higher daily limits that may require sufficient channel history or identity verification, where available. Check YouTube’s feature access table for the account-specific access shown to you.

General live-stream requirements
- The channel must be verified.
- The channel must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- YouTube’s general help page states that users must be at least 16 to live stream.
See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee access to every live-stream feature or limit.
Additional requirement for mobile live streaming
Mobile live streaming has extra conditions: the channel needs at least 50 subscribers, and live streaming must be turned on. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. These mobile requirements are separate from verifying your phone number. YouTube’s instructions are at Get started with mobile live streaming.

If YouTube does not send the code
- Wait a few minutes. YouTube says codes are usually sent immediately, but a text can be delayed.
- Try a voice call. If the text does not arrive or your operator does not support Google messages, switch to the voice-call option.
- Try a different supported number or operator. Some operators may not support messages or calls from Google.
- Check the channel-association limit. If the number has already been associated with two channels during the year, YouTube’s stated limit has been reached; use another supported number.
- Confirm the channel and account. Make sure you are signed in to the Google account for the channel whose features you want to enable.
YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance is included in its phone verification help.
Phone verification is separate from advanced features
Phone verification alone does not unlock all advanced features. YouTube says creators first complete phone verification, then build sufficient channel history or complete ID or video verification if those options are available to them. Some features have separate eligibility rules. Review YouTube’s feature access requirements to see the route and status for your channel.

Or let it run in the cloud
Phone verification gets your account ready for eligible live streaming; it does not keep a broadcast running for you. If your goal is to keep pre-recorded videos live on YouTube around the clock, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It supports uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
