On a computer, open Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility, confirm the relevant feature is enabled, and check Studio and your email for any restriction notice. YouTube’s general baseline is a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; mobile streaming has additional requirements.
Check these first
- On a computer, sign in to the channel you want to use and open YouTube Studio.
- Select Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Find the feature involved and check its status. YouTube notes that some features have separate eligibility requirements or are managed outside this tab. YouTube’s feature-access guidance explains the access levels.
- Confirm that the channel is verified. YouTube’s live-streaming guidance states: “To live stream, you need to have no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days and you need to verify your channel.”
- Check Studio notifications and the email associated with the channel for warnings, copyright notices, restriction details, or appeal instructions.
The word “limited” alone does not establish that YouTube has banned the channel from live streaming. Identify the exact feature row and any notice before choosing a fix.
Does the problem depend on how you are trying to stream?
Using the YouTube mobile app
Mobile live streaming has its own eligibility checks: YouTube lists at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, live streaming turned on, and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. For a first mobile stream, activation can take up to 24 hours after you enable live streaming. See YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements.
If you have just enabled the feature, wait for that activation period before treating the delay as a restriction. If the channel does not meet the mobile subscriber threshold, use a different streaming method only if the channel’s live access is otherwise enabled; a webcam, encoder, or console does not override an account restriction.

Using a computer, webcam, encoder, or console
YouTube supports several ways to stream, including webcam, encoder, and console workflows. Check the requirements for the method you selected, but distinguish those setup requirements from channel eligibility: production equipment cannot change the Feature eligibility status or remove an account-level restriction. YouTube’s general live-streaming instructions are at Get started with live streaming.
What “limited” may mean
A feature-access tier or daily-use limit
YouTube divides creator access into standard, intermediate, and advanced features, with different verification and daily-limit rules. Its feature-access page lists computer live streaming among the features available with phone verification, subject to a limited daily limit; advanced access has higher daily limits. If an advanced-access creator reaches a daily feature limit, YouTube says to wait 24 hours before using that feature again. Check the exact feature row and current channel status rather than treating every “limited” label as a policy strike.

Phone verification grants intermediate features. Advanced access requires phone verification plus sufficient channel history or identity verification by ID or video, where available. YouTube says positive channel history and policy compliance matter to maintaining advanced access. However, its general live-streaming guidance gives the baseline as channel verification and no live-stream restriction in the prior 90 days; advanced access is not stated as a universal live-stream prerequisite. A first-time activation delay
This explanation is especially relevant if you are trying the YouTube mobile app for the first time after enabling live streaming: YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. That mobile-specific wait is different from a policy restriction or a reached daily feature limit.

An account or policy restriction
YouTube may temporarily or permanently disable live-streaming access for age-related or policy reasons, copyright restrictions, or live-stream policy violations. Its general guidance says a strike prevents live streaming for 14 days. The signed-in account’s notice is the place to find the reason and any next steps; YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions guidance describes relevant restrictions.
What to do if YouTube has restricted live streaming
- Read the Studio or email notice and follow the remedy or appeal instructions it provides.
- If you believe a decision is wrong, use the appeal route YouTube makes available for that decision.
- Do not try to bypass the restriction by streaming from another channel. YouTube describes that as circumvention and says it may lead to account termination.
- Check current age requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming help. Its general guidance says creators must be at least 16 to live stream.
Only YouTube can confirm the enforcement state and reason for an individual channel. If Feature eligibility does not explain the status, the notice in the account is more informative than the label alone.
