YouTube’s feature-access table places live streaming on a computer under phone-verified intermediate access; advanced access raises the daily limit and is required for some other actions, including embedding live streams. If the Go Live option is missing, check the exact streaming method, your channel’s eligibility and restriction status, and whether activation is still pending.
First, identify which live-streaming action is blocked
“Live streaming” can mean starting a stream from a computer, starting one from a phone or tablet, embedding a stream on another site, or exceeding a daily limit. Those actions do not all have the same access requirements. YouTube’s feature-access table lists computer live streaming under phone-verified intermediate access, while embedding live streams appears under advanced access. Advanced access also provides a higher daily limit.
So, if you enabled advanced features but still cannot go live, do not assume the advanced-feature setting itself is the missing switch. Check which action you are trying to take and the status shown for your channel in YouTube Studio.
Check your channel’s eligibility in YouTube Studio
- Open Feature eligibility. In YouTube Studio, go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Review which access levels are enabled and whether Studio asks for verification. YouTube notes that not every feature is managed on this page, and some have separate eligibility requirements. See Learn about feature access for YouTube Creators.
- Confirm phone verification. YouTube’s feature-access table places computer live streaming under intermediate access, which requires phone verification. If that access is not enabled, complete the verification steps shown for your account.
- Check for a live-streaming restriction. YouTube’s general live-streaming eligibility guidance says the channel must have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days and must be verified. A restriction can prevent streaming even when an access tier appears enabled.
- Match the requirements to your device. If you are trying to stream from a computer, do not apply the mobile subscriber threshold: YouTube does not list 50 subscribers as a universal requirement for computer streaming. If you are using a phone or tablet, follow the additional mobile requirements below.
- Allow for first-time activation. If you have just enabled mobile live streaming, YouTube says the first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to activate. Wait for that window, then check Studio again.
- Recheck the method-specific instructions and account status. If the expected access is enabled but the button is still unavailable, verify that you are signed into the intended channel and review the instructions for your device and streaming method. If those checks do not explain the issue, use YouTube’s feedback option or Creator Support if your account is eligible.
Computer streaming and mobile streaming have different requirements
Starting a stream on a computer
YouTube lists computer live streaming under phone-verified intermediate access. The general live-streaming eligibility guidance also calls for channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. The mobile-only 50-subscriber threshold does not apply as a general prerequisite to computer streaming.

Starting a stream on a phone or tablet
YouTube’s mobile live-streaming instructions require at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no recent live-streaming restriction, live streaming enabled, and a supported operating system. The first mobile stream may take up to 24 hours to become available after enabling it. YouTube presents that as activation guidance, not a guarantee that every account will be approved or ready by a particular time.
Embedding a stream or hitting a limit
If your issue is embedding a live stream on another site rather than starting the stream, YouTube lists embedding under advanced access. If you have reached a daily limit, check the access tier shown in Studio: YouTube says advanced access has a higher daily limit than intermediate access. These are separate issues from whether computer streaming is enabled.

If advanced access itself is not enabled
YouTube says creators must first complete phone verification for intermediate access. To obtain advanced access, the channel can either build sufficient channel history or complete ID or video verification if YouTube offers that option to the account. Channel history includes both channel activity and Google Account history.
ID and video verification are not available to every creator, and YouTube says only the primary channel owner can complete identity verification for additional features. Its intermediate and advanced feature instructions say ID or video reviews usually take 24 hours. Treat that as YouTube’s stated typical review timing, not a promised approval deadline.

Common reasons the Go Live option is still missing
- You checked the wrong access tier: computer streaming, mobile streaming, embedding and daily limits have different requirements. Revisit the Feature eligibility page and identify the precise action that fails.
- The channel is not phone-verified: phone verification provides intermediate access, where YouTube lists computer live streaming. Complete the verification shown in Studio.
- The channel has a recent live-streaming restriction: YouTube’s general guidance requires no such restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check channel status rather than relying only on the feature-access label.
- You are using mobile with fewer than 50 subscribers: the threshold applies to mobile streaming. It is not a universal computer-streaming prerequisite.
- Mobile streaming has not activated yet: YouTube says the first mobile stream can take up to 24 hours to activate after enabling.
- You expected advanced access to fix a separate eligibility issue: access status is channel-specific, and some features have separate requirements. Use the method-specific YouTube instructions and the account’s Studio status to narrow down the cause.
