If a YouTube 24/7 broadcast ends when its prerecorded playlist reaches the last item, check the playlist or playback software feeding the encoder and confirm that the encoder is still sending content. YouTube’s viewer-facing Loop control repeats an ordinary playlist for the person watching; it does not make a creator’s encoder restart its source media. First determine whether the broadcast itself ended or only one viewer’s playback stopped.
First identify what stopped
Open the live watch page and check whether YouTube shows the broadcast as ended. If it still shows as live but playback stopped for one viewer, investigate that viewer’s playlist playback. If the broadcast ended at the exact point the source playlist ran out, inspect the source queue and repeat behavior. This distinction matters because YouTube’s playlist controls and an encoder-fed live broadcast are separate workflows.
- Only a viewer’s playlist stopped: check YouTube’s playlist-level Loop control on that device.
- The live broadcast ended: check the source playlist’s repeat behavior, then verify the encoder continues sending content and inspect Live Control Room.
- The feed dropped at an unexpected time: check stream health and the connection after confirming that the source queue was not set to stop.
Turn on Loop for a playlist you are watching
These controls repeat playback for the viewer. They are not a fix for a creator’s encoder stopping when its source media ends. Interface placement can change with app versions.
On desktop
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel.
- Click Loop so the playlist repeats continuously.
On Android
- Start the playlist.
- Tap Loop in the playlist control box below the video.
- Check the icon state: the playlist-level loop repeats the full list; tapping again switches to repeating only the current video, shown by a “1” in the loop icon. If you want the whole playlist to restart, select the playlist-level state.
On a TV or game console
- Start playlist playback.
- Press down on the remote or controller to show playback controls.
- Select Repeat until the label reads Repeat • Playlist.
Keep an encoder-fed live stream running after the source playlist ends
YouTube’s encoder workflow sends a feed to YouTube using a stream URL and stream key. YouTube says to end the broadcast by stopping content from the encoder. If the broadcast ends exactly when the last source video finishes, that points first to the source queue or repeat setting; it does not establish that YouTube’s viewer Loop control is off.

- Open the software that supplies the video to your encoder. Find its playlist, queue, or playback settings.
- Enable repeat or loop for the source playlist. Check that the setting applies to the entire playlist rather than only the current video.
- Check the queue’s end behavior. Make sure it is not configured to stop playback or end the output after the final item.
- Verify that the encoder is still sending data. Check the encoder’s connection/status and YouTube Live Control Room while the source reaches the end of its list.
- Confirm the live watch page remains live. If the encoder continues sending content but the watch page ends, investigate the encoder’s output and stream health rather than changing a viewer’s playlist control.
The exact menu names depend on the source and encoder software. YouTube’s general encoder guidance does not establish one universal source-playlist loop switch, so use the documentation for the software actually in use rather than following menu steps for an unidentified product.
Troubleshoot a stream that drops unexpectedly
The stream ends exactly at the last item
Check whether the source playlist is set to repeat and whether its queue is set to stop at the end. Then verify the encoder is still sending content in Live Control Room. This timing makes source playback behavior the first thing to investigate.

The broadcast is live, but one viewer sees playback stop
Check the viewer’s playlist-level Loop setting on the device being used. On Android, confirm the icon is not in the state that repeats only one video; on a TV or console, confirm the control says Repeat • Playlist.
The encoder feed drops even though the playlist should continue
Check stream health and the connection. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video and checking that local archive files are growing. Its streaming tips recommend upload bandwidth with 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. This is a reliability check, not a way to make a source playlist loop.

You need a recording of a long-running stream
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Keep a local archive backup for a continuous broadcast rather than relying on YouTube’s automatic archive as the only copy.

If you want to avoid depending on a computer and local encoder staying on, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the videos in the cloud; it does not stream from a camera.

YouTube’s encoder help page lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. That establishes its category and use case, not its current price, independent performance, or whether it is necessary to fix a misconfigured source loop. When assessing any hosted service against a locally operated source and encoder, compare whether it can loop or schedule your actual media, how monitoring and recovery work, the output quality and stream-health workflow, archive options, hardware requirements, and total cost.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does YouTube’s Loop button keep a creator’s live stream running?
No. It controls a viewer’s ordinary playlist playback. A creator’s broadcast depends on the source and encoder continuing to send content.
Why does an Android loop icon show a 1?
That state repeats the current video rather than the full playlist.
