Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →To use a different playlist rotation for each YouTube channel in OBS, create a separate VLC Video Source for each rotation, set that source’s loop and shuffle options, and organize the sources in channel-specific scenes or show the right source in the active scene. OBS manages the media playback; it does not automatically connect an OBS playlist to a YouTube channel or synchronize it with a YouTube playlist.
Set up a separate OBS playlist for each channel
-
Install VLC
Install VLC before adding the source: OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video Source to appear. Match the architecture: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
-
Add a VLC Video Source for each rotation
In OBS, use the Sources dock to add a VLC Video Source. Give it a descriptive name such as “Channel A rotation,” then add the media files for that rotation to its playlist. Repeat with a separate source and media list for each other channel’s rotation. Keeping each list in its own source is a practical way to keep the media and playback settings distinct; it does not make OBS detect which YouTube channel is live.
The OBS guide describes VLC Video Source as supporting a playlist, “similar to an Image Slideshow.” The source plays local media items in OBS.

-
Choose loop and shuffle behavior per source
Edit each VLC Video Source and set its playlist options independently:
- Loop Playlist: enable it if playback should restart after the final item; disable it if the list should stop at the end.
- Shuffle Playlist: enable it to randomize playback rather than follow the listed order; disable it for a predictable sequence.
These controls apply to the OBS media playlist, not a playlist on YouTube.

Organize channel-specific scenes
OBS scenes group sources, and the eye control in the Sources dock hides or shows a source. You can create a scene for each channel’s layout and put the matching playlist source in it, or keep a shared scene and show the intended source when needed. The right arrangement depends on how you operate the channels. Review the OBS Scenes and Sources guide.
-
Keep scene layouts separate from output profiles
An OBS Profile saves stream, video, and output settings, but not scenes. If you use different layouts for different channels, manage those layouts with Scene Collections as well as profiles; changing profiles alone does not preserve a different scene arrangement. OBS explains this distinction in its Profiles guide.

Understand what this setup does—and does not do
This setup gives you distinct media lists and playback behavior inside OBS, which you can organize and select as you operate your channels. The OBS documentation for media sources, scenes, and profiles does not establish automatic channel-aware switching, automatic binding between a source and a YouTube channel, or synchronization with YouTube playlist membership. If you need automatic switching or cloud synchronization, verify that a specific integration supports it before relying on it.
Built-in VLC source or a third-party playlist source?
The built-in VLC Video Source is the documented starting point. A third-party option, Media Playlist Source in the OBS forum, may be worth considering if its editing behavior or features better suit your workflow. The forum listing states that version 0.1.3 supports Windows, macOS, and Linux, requires OBS 31 or later, and includes playlist editing and shuffle features. Check the current release notes and compatibility before installing; plugin details can change, and these options have not been independently tested here.

If your goal is to keep uploaded videos streaming on YouTube without leaving OBS or a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera.
- Nothing has to stay on at home for the stream to continue.
- Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free with no card required.
- Monthly billing is $9.99 per month.
