Scroll through the page in steps, pause for below-the-fold content to load, and only then take a full-page screenshot. A full-page capture can cover the document’s full scrollable height without actually scrolling the visible browser window, so it may miss content that appears only after scrolling. Inspect the saved image; on an infinite-scroll page, capture only the range you need and verify what loaded.
Why a full-page screenshot can miss content
Full-page capture describes how much of the page is included in the image, not necessarily how the page is made to behave before capture. Playwright describes its full-page screenshot as capturing the full scrollable page as if it could fit on a very tall screen. That does not by itself guarantee that the page has fetched or rendered content gated on a real scroll.
Native lazy-loaded images are deferred until they are likely to enter the viewport, and browsers update that likelihood as a person scrolls. Pages can also trigger loading through viewport-observation APIs or scroll handlers. The distance at which deferred images load varies by browser, so there is no single scroll offset that works for every page.
An open Playwright issue filed May 21, 2026 reports that full-page screenshot capture may not move the real viewport and can therefore miss scroll-gated content. That is an issue report, not a guarantee about every Playwright version or site. The practical safeguard is to scroll, wait, and inspect the output.

Manual method: scroll, wait, capture, verify
- Open the page and let it render. Wait for its initial visible content to finish loading.
- Scroll down in manageable increments. Bring below-the-fold sections and images into view. Pause for images or other content to load before moving farther.
- Continue to the range you intend to capture. For an ordinary finite page, proceed to its end. For an infinite feed, choose a useful stopping point: new material may keep appearing, and there is no universal stopping rule that proves an endless feed is complete.
- Take a full-page screenshot. Use your browser’s full-page capture feature or an automation tool after the scroll-and-wait pass.
- Review the entire saved image. Look for blank image placeholders, missing sections, repeated elements, or a cutoff. If content is absent, return to the affected area, let it load, and recapture.
This is a practical workflow based on viewport-triggered loading and documented capture features, not a guarantee for every site. Animated content, virtualized rows, or site-specific loading logic may need additional handling.

Infinite scroll and virtualized pages
Do not assume an infinite feed has a final state that can be captured in one image. Scroll until the range relevant to your task has appeared, wait for it to render, and capture that loaded range. A virtualized page may render only items near the current viewport, even when the underlying list is longer; a full-height screenshot cannot guarantee that off-screen items are present in the image. Check the result for gaps or repeated content and narrow the goal if necessary.
