Two concurrent streams fit within both caps, provided your channel is eligible and each stream is configured correctly. The limits establish that multiple live streams are allowed; they do not certify every tool that plays or loops prerecorded video as a live feed.
What YouTube’s limits mean for two simultaneous streams
YouTube Help currently lists a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both limits apply at once: two streams must fit within the channel-wide cap and the cap for the key or keys you use. These are platform limits, not a guarantee that a particular encoder or automation service can create two feeds.
Your channel must be verified, have live streaming enabled, and have no live-streaming restriction from the preceding 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements.
How to set up two distinct live events
Create two events in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, then connect an encoder feed to each event using the corresponding stream URL and stream key. YouTube documents repeating the setup to broadcast multiple streams concurrently, subject to the active-stream limits. Its instructions cover encoder feeds; they do not establish a universal YouTube feature for uploading a file and automatically looping it as a live stream.

- Check eligibility. Confirm live streaming is enabled and that the channel has no applicable restriction. Allow up to 24 hours if you are enabling it for the first time.
- Create or schedule the first event. In YouTube Studio, open Create > Go live to reach the Live Control Room and create or schedule the event.
- Create or schedule the second event. Make it a separate event with its own watch page. Keep the event details and feed assignment clear so you do not send the wrong content to the wrong page.
- Connect each encoder feed. For each event, use its stream URL and stream key in the encoder configured to send that event’s feed. Follow YouTube’s instructions for connecting an encoder and previewing the incoming feed.
- Preview both feeds, then start them. Check that each event receives the intended video and audio before starting. Starting an encoder feed and starting or managing the event in Live Control Room are related but distinct parts of the workflow.
- End each event deliberately. Stop its encoder feed and end the stream in Live Control Room. Repeat for the other event when it is finished.

What changes when the video is prerecorded
The encoder must still send a live feed to each event. A playback or automation tool may be able to supply prerecorded content, but compatibility, looping behavior, scheduling, and recovery depend on that tool. YouTube’s encoder guidance does not specifically approve every third-party prerecorded-video workflow, so verify that a chosen tool can produce two distinct feeds and keep them assigned to the right events.

Also check YouTube’s rules for the content itself. Having permission to broadcast prerecorded material and meeting YouTube’s policies are separate from meeting the technical stream limits. Review YouTube’s Community Guidelines and channel monetization policies, including their treatment of reused content if you intend to monetize. Do not assume that running material as a live stream changes copyright or monetization requirements.
Plan bandwidth and encoding capacity
For two locally sent feeds, plan around the combined outgoing bitrate, not each stream in isolation. YouTube advises keeping the total outgoing bitrate within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. For example, if the two feeds together require 10 Mbps, the connection should have more than 10 Mbps available; applying the recommended headroom means planning for roughly 12.5 Mbps of usable upload capacity. This example is arithmetic, not a YouTube bitrate prescription.

A local hardware or software encoder also has to sustain the workload for both feeds. The processing requirement depends on the encoding setup and video settings; YouTube does not provide a universal CPU specification for two streams. Its guidance on upload capacity and simulstreaming is in YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
Choose a workflow that fits the job

YouTube describes local encoding as an option for creators who want control and have a powerful computer. Cloud relay can reduce local processing demands, but the cited YouTube guidance does not identify a particular service for running two events on one channel.

Stream and archive timing
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived after the encoder feed is stopped. That is an archive statement, not a universal maximum runtime for a live stream. YouTube separately notes that DVR rewind may be limited on streams longer than 12 hours; do not treat that as the same rule. Details are in the encoder guidance.
