PC Slower Than It Used to Be?

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteTo reduce buffering on a 24/7 YouTube lofi stream, make the encoder’s bitrate sustainable on your actual upload connection, use YouTube’s recommended encoder settings, start with normal latency, and monitor stream health. These steps can reduce avoidable interruptions, but no configuration guarantees that every viewer will have uninterrupted playback: problems can come from the encoder, the broadcast connection, YouTube’s ingest path, or a viewer’s own network.
Set up a feed your connection can sustain
Choose a resolution and frame rate that suit your lofi visuals, then match the bitrate to YouTube’s current recommendation for that codec and format. A mostly static or gently animated scene may work at a lower resolution or frame rate, but test it with representative audio and motion rather than assuming the picture will look good at a lower setting.
For H.264, YouTube’s undated encoder guidance, accessed in 2026, recommends 5 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are recommendations for encoder ingest, not guarantees of uninterrupted viewer playback. YouTube lists different bitrate ranges for other resolutions, frame rates, and codecs; use the matching row in its live encoder settings guidance rather than applying one bitrate to every stream.
- Use constant bitrate (CBR).
- Set the keyframe interval to two seconds; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Use RTMPS when configuring the connection; YouTube recommends the secure version of RTMP.
- Choose an audio format supported by YouTube’s guidance, such as AAC or MP3.
- Run a speed test and confirm the outbound connection can sustain the selected bitrate. Do not set bitrate at the edge of a connection that fluctuates.
YouTube’s guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS in the listed settings. Check its current table for the specific bitrate range for your codec, resolution, and frame rate.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Choose latency for lofi playback
Latency is the delay between capture and playback for viewers. Lower latency can increase the chance of buffering, and YouTube specifically warns that ultra-low latency may do so. A lofi stream usually does not require real-time audience interaction, so normal latency is a sensible starting point. This is a recommendation based on YouTube’s stated tradeoff, not a promise that playback will never buffer. Check the current options in YouTube Live Control Room when setting up the stream.
Preflight before leaving the stream unattended
YouTube’s live-streaming tips are written for events, but their preflight checks are useful before an always-on broadcast too. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder stream at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before an event begins.

- Next-Gen Wi-Fi 6 Technology – The Archer AX10 leverages advanced Wi-Fi 6 features like OFDMA and 1024-QAM to deliver improved efficiency across your entire network. Perfect for high-bandwidth activities like streaming, gaming, and smart home connectivity.
- Next-gen Dual Band router - 300 Mbps on 2. 4 GHz (802. 11n) plus 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz (802. 11ax)
- Connect more devices than ever before - Wi-Fi 6 technology simultaneously communicates more data to more devices using OFDMA and MU-MIMO while reducing lag dramatically
- Powerful Dual-Core 900MHz Processor – Handles multiple data streams simultaneously for reliable performance across your devices. Ensures smooth streaming, online gaming, and video conferencing without buffering or lag.
- Prepare the stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Confirm the channel and stream configuration, then start the encoder and check the preview before making the broadcast public.
- Test a representative segment. Use the same resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio routing, and visual motion you intend to run. Check both picture and sound.
- Verify the archive. If recording locally, confirm the archive file exists and continues growing as expected.
- Check viewer access. Open the watch page from the channel and test playback on a mobile device as well as the encoder’s local preview.
- Test failover if you have a backup encoder. YouTube recommends stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable and confirming that the player switches to the backup.
- Monitor quality continuously. For an unattended stream, plan how you will notice a stopped encoder, a failed connection, or a power interruption and how you will restart or switch over.
YouTube’s event guidance does not specify a 24/7 hosting architecture or guarantee uptime. Backup power, a second network path, and restart monitoring are engineering considerations; no particular device or service is established here as a guarantee against downtime.
Find out where buffering starts
Separate what the encoder is producing from what is happening to the outbound connection and to viewers. YouTube recommends inspecting encoder output and CPU load first, then testing the connection if the encoder appears healthy. See its encoder troubleshooting guidance and OBS’s network troubleshooting article, dated 2024-09-30.

| What you observe | Likely area to investigate | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Picture or sound is already wrong in the encoder output or local recording | Source, routing, encoder settings, or system load | Check source routing and quality, encoder error messages, CPU load, and the local archive. If the output remains problematic after these checks, YouTube advises considering another encoder. |
| Encoder output looks healthy, but the stream drops frames or loses connection | Outbound connection or ingest path | Test connection strength and compare its stable capacity with the configured bitrate. OBS says dropped frames indicate a connection that is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. If the connection test points to a problem, YouTube advises contacting the ISP. |
| OBS reports dropped frames during congestion | Network capacity is falling short of the configured bitrate | OBS offers dynamically changing bitrate as a congestion measure. It does not fix the underlying connection problem, and it lowers quality when bitrate falls. |
| Only some viewers report interruption | Viewer-side network, playback, or congestion may be involved | Compare reports across viewers and devices. Ask affected viewers to check their network health; do not assume that the broadcaster’s upload is the only possible cause. |
Keep a 24/7 stream running beyond the initial test
A long-running stream needs an operating plan, not just an encoder preset. Decide how you will detect a stopped feed, whether a backup encoder or connection is available, and how you will respond to power or network loss. Test the failover path rather than assuming it will work. YouTube’s guidance recommends failover testing and continuous quality monitoring, but does not establish that any particular setup will stay online around the clock.
