Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteFor a repeatable batch of website screenshots on a low-budget VPS in India, use a headless browser such as Playwright: load URLs from a queue, capture each page to a unique filename, and record failures so you can retry them. Start with one worker and a small representative pilot. There is no reliable universal pages-per-hour or concurrency figure; memory, page behavior, capture mode, browser version, and network conditions all affect capacity.
Why use a headless browser for bulk captures?
A scripted browser can render JavaScript-driven pages and capture either the viewport, a full page, or a selected element. Playwright documents these screenshot modes and supports Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit on Linux, macOS, and Windows. Playwright screenshot documentation and its official product page describe the relevant capabilities.
For a Linux VPS, headless Chromium is a straightforward starting point. Playwright’s CI guidance says headless mode is the default; headed Linux runs require Xvfb. Install the browser binaries and the operating-system dependencies that match the Playwright version you install. Playwright CI documentation
Choose and size the VPS cautiously
A low monthly price does not tell you how many pages a machine can capture. Compare memory and CPU for rendering, disk for retained screenshots, transfer allowance for page assets and output, region, IPv4 requirements, and billing terms. Then measure a representative workload on the actual instance.

As a dated price reference, AWS Lightsail’s official pricing page displayed a Linux/Unix bundle with public IPv4 at $5 USD per month when checked on 2026-10-03. The listed bundle has 0.5 GB memory, 2 vCPUs, 20 GB SSD, and a headline 1 TB transfer allowance. Lightsail lists Asia Pacific (Mumbai), where the page says the transfer allowances shown for bundles are halved. These figures describe the bundle, not screenshot capacity. AWS Lightsail pricing
AWS says Lightsail bundles are billed at a fixed hourly price up to the plan’s maximum monthly cost, and bundle resources include compute, memory, storage, and transfer. Prepare the VPS and capture script
Install Playwright and Chromium
On a supported Linux VPS with Node.js installed, create a project and install Playwright. The install command fetches the browser build associated with the installed package; install required Linux libraries as well.
mkdir screenshot-batch && cd screenshot-batchnpm init -ynpm install playwrightnpx playwright install --with-deps chromium
If your distribution or permissions prevent the bundled dependency installer from working, follow Playwright’s Linux CI guidance for the appropriate system packages. Keep the Playwright package and installed browser in sync when upgrading.
Create a URL queue
Put one authorized URL per line in urls.txt. Keep the input list as the source of truth so a run can be repeated and failed URLs can be isolated. Use pages you own or are permitted to capture, keep request rates polite, and respect target-site access controls.

Run a bounded batch
Save this as capture.mjs. It uses one worker by default, an explicit navigation timeout, a completion wait, deterministic numbered filenames, and a CSV log. The default capture is the visible viewport; add FULL_PAGE=1 for full-page captures. It retries a failed URL twice after the initial attempt.
import { chromium } from 'playwright';
import { mkdir, readFile, appendFile } from 'node:fs/promises';
const urls = (await readFile('urls.txt', 'utf8'))
.split(/r?n/)
.map(line => line.trim())
.filter(line => line && !line.startsWith('#'));
const outputDir = 'screenshots';
const workers = Math.max(1, Number(process.env.WORKERS || 1));
const timeoutMs = Math.max(1000, Number(process.env.TIMEOUT_MS || 30000));
const fullPage = process.env.FULL_PAGE === '1';
await mkdir(outputDir, { recursive: true });
await appendFile('results.csv', 'index,url,status,file,errorn');
const browser = await chromium.launch({ headless: true });
let next = 0;
async function worker() {
const context = await browser.newContext();
const page = await context.newPage();
page.setDefaultNavigationTimeout(timeoutMs);
while (true) {
const index = next++;
if (index >= urls.length) break;
const url = urls[index];
const file = `${outputDir}/${String(index + 1).padStart(6, '0')}.png`;
let lastError = '';
let saved = false;
for (let attempt = 1; attempt <= 3; attempt++) {
try {
const response = await page.goto(url, { waitUntil: 'load', timeout: timeoutMs });
if (response && response.status() >= 400) {
throw new Error(`HTTP ${response.status()}`);
}
await page.screenshot({ path: file, fullPage });
await appendFile('results.csv', `${index + 1},${JSON.stringify(url)},ok,${file},n`);
saved = true;
break;
} catch (error) {
lastError = String(error).replaceAll('n', ' ');
if (attempt < 3) await new Promise(resolve => setTimeout(resolve, attempt * 1000));
}
}
if (!saved) {
await appendFile('results.csv', `${index + 1},${JSON.stringify(url)},failed,,${JSON.stringify(lastError)}n`);
}
}
await context.close();
}
try {
await Promise.all(Array.from({ length: Math.min(workers, Math.max(1, urls.length)) }, () => worker()));
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
Run it with node capture.mjs. To request full-page screenshots, use FULL_PAGE=1 node capture.mjs. To test a higher concurrency setting after the single-worker pilot, for example, use WORKERS=2 node capture.mjs; this is a setting to test, not a capacity recommendation.
The example keeps one page per worker and reuses it for successive URLs. Each worker has its own browser context, which separates its page state. The numbered output paths are predictable for one input ordering; preserve the same URL list or add a stable URL-derived identifier if you need names that remain constant when list order changes. CSV fields use JSON quoting for URLs and errors, so parse them as CSV rather than treating commas as separators manually.
Make the batch reproducible and manageable
Set the capture and wait policy deliberately
waitUntil: 'load' waits for the page load event, not necessarily every delayed widget, animation, or late network request. If a target page renders important content later, add a bounded wait for a specific selector or a deliberate delay after navigation. Avoid relying on an unlimited wait for network idle on pages with persistent connections or continuous analytics traffic. Full-page captures can use more memory and take longer than viewport captures, especially on unusually tall pages.
Playwright also supports element screenshots and screenshots returned as a buffer, which can be useful when you want to upload output directly rather than write files first. Consult the official screenshot documentation for the current method signatures.

Control load and preserve results
- Begin with one worker; increase concurrency only after observing CPU, memory, disk, and failure rates on representative pages.
- Keep screenshots on adequate disk, and decide whether to compress, upload, or remove them after verification.
- Retain the input queue and result log. Retry failures selectively rather than rerunning every successful URL.
- Use a process manager or scheduled job appropriate to your VPS if the batch must survive an SSH disconnect or restart; verify that its logs and output paths are persistent.
- Consider target-site rate limits and the size of assets fetched by each browser page. A screenshot job loads pages and often their resources, not just a single image request.
Measure throughput on your own page mix
Run a small pilot containing representative examples: a simple page, a JavaScript-heavy page, and a long page if full-page capture is required. Record elapsed time, successes, retries, and resource use. Repeat after changing one factor such as worker count or wait policy. The results estimate only that combination of pages, browser version, VPS resources, and network conditions; they are not a general pages-per-hour promise.
Watch for memory pressure or browser crashes, CPU saturation, disk exhaustion, unusually slow navigations, and HTTP errors. If increasing workers raises failures or slows total completion, reduce concurrency. The 0.5 GB Lightsail example above is particularly constrained for browser work, so treat it as a price reference or cautious pilot rather than an assurance of batch capacity.

Troubleshoot common failures
- Browser executable or shared library missing: install the browser build for the Playwright version in the project and its Linux dependencies using the documented setup. A package upgrade may require installing the matching browser again.
- Navigation timeout: check whether the page is slow, blocked, or waiting on a persistent resource. Use a reasonable explicit timeout, test an appropriate wait condition, and retry selectively. Raising the timeout indiscriminately can make a large queue stall.
- HTTP error or access challenge: the sample logs HTTP statuses of 400 or above as failures. Do not attempt to bypass a site’s access controls; confirm that automated access is permitted and use an authorized route.
- Blank or incomplete capture: the page may render content after the load event. Wait for a relevant selector or a bounded delay and verify whether the missing element is in a frame or lazy-loaded.
- Out-of-memory crash or slow batch: reduce workers, use viewport instead of full-page capture where suitable, and check page height and available memory.
- Disk fills during a run: check output volume and free space before a large job; move completed captures to durable storage or remove them only after confirming they are no longer needed.
Or skip the browser setup
If you would rather send requests than maintain browser binaries and a batch runner, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single GET request returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; those steps can be disabled. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with response headers identifying page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for AI agents. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. The service also supports bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, but whether it fits a given workload depends on that workload and plan usage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Firefox or WebKit instead of Chromium?
Yes. Playwright supports Chromium, Firefox, and WebKit on Linux; install the browser build you intend to use and test it with your target pages.
Does the sample script guarantee that every screenshot is visually complete?
No. It captures after the selected navigation condition, and pages may render content later. Use a target-specific selector or bounded delay when the page requires it.
