For a Kannada video you plan to upload to YouTube and play repeatedly, start with HandBrake’s Web > Creator preset at the source’s actual resolution and frame rate. Keep the source frame rate, use constant quality unless you need a predictable file size, and check a short sample before encoding the full video. Kannada does not call for a special codec or bitrate.
“Loop stream” can also mean sending a prerecorded video continuously as a YouTube live broadcast. That is a different workflow: HandBrake prepares a file, while a live encoder or cloud service sends the stream. The settings below keep those two jobs separate.
Choose the right workflow first
Decide whether you are preparing a video file for upload or broadcasting that file as a live stream. The settings are not interchangeable.

The official guidance does not establish which loop automation feature you intend to use. If you mean a normal uploaded video that viewers can replay, follow the upload workflow. If you mean a continuous live broadcast, use the live-stream section as well as a separate streaming workflow.

HandBrake settings for a Kannada video upload
1. Start with Web > Creator
In HandBrake, open the source video, then choose Presets > Web > Creator. Select the Creator option closest to the source resolution and frame rate. Documented choices include Creator 1080p60 and Creator 720p60; these use MP4, H.264 video, and AAC stereo audio. Do not upscale a smaller source just to use a higher-resolution preset. 2. Set video quality without chasing a universal RF
For most uploads, use constant quality rather than targeting a fixed file size. HandBrake’s current technical guidance gives x264 starting points of about RF 20 ±1 for SD and RF 22 ±1 for HD. These are general starting recommendations, not Kannada-specific optimums; the guide is marked as a draft. Fine detail, image noise, motion, and the desired file size all affect the result. 3. Preserve the recorded frame rate
Use Same as Source for the frame rate. HandBrake’s guidance explains that variable frame rate can preserve source timing, while Peak Frame Rate (PFR) caps rates above a chosen threshold. Constant Frame Rate (CFR) converts the output to one fixed rate, so use it only when a real compatibility or production requirement calls for it. YouTube’s upload guidance likewise says to encode and upload at the rate at which the content was recorded. HandBrake’s current frame-rate page is marked as a draft. 4. Handle interlacing and color correctly
- If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it before upload. YouTube gives converting 1080i60 to 1080p30 as an example.
- For SDR video, use BT.709 color.
- Check a representative output for combing, washed-out color, or other changes before encoding the whole source.
These are YouTube upload recommendations; do not apply a conversion blindly if the source is already progressive or uses a different intended color workflow. See YouTube’s upload encoding recommendations.

5. Keep the Kannada audio and verify it
Retain the Kannada audio track. YouTube’s upload guidance lists AAC-LC, Opus, or Eclipsa Audio and a 48 kHz sample rate; HandBrake’s Creator presets use AAC stereo. No special audio codec or bitrate is specified for Kannada. Listen to the encoded sample to confirm speech or music is intelligible and stays synchronized with the picture. 6. Use upload bitrates only when they fit your workflow
YouTube lists SDR upload bitrate recommendations of 8 Mbps for 1080p at standard frame rate and 12 Mbps at high frame rate; for 720p, it lists 5 Mbps and 7.5 Mbps, respectively. These figures are upload recommendations, not mandatory settings for every creator, and YouTube’s page notes that its stated features and settings apply to Content Manager partners. They are not live-stream CBR targets. If you use HandBrake’s constant-quality mode, you do not need to force these figures as a target bitrate. See YouTube’s upload encoding recommendations.

Settings for sending the loop as a YouTube live stream
If a separate live encoder is sending a prerecorded Kannada video to YouTube Live, configure that encoder for live ingest; do not treat HandBrake’s constant-quality settings as live encoder settings. YouTube currently lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video ingest, up to 60 fps, CBR, and AAC or MP3 audio. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds.

These are YouTube’s H.264 live-ingest figures, not file-upload bitrate targets. Choose settings for the actual codec, resolution, frame rate, and available upstream capacity. YouTube recommends RTMPS for secure delivery, testing with representative audio and motion before going live, and monitoring stream health while broadcasting. Do not paste live CBR and keyframe settings into a normal HandBrake constant-quality encode. YouTube’s separate upload guidance describes MP4/H.264 uploads and variable bitrate without requiring a bitrate limit; the live page covers ingest configuration.

- File looks soft or blocky: Compare a short encode with the source, especially in detailed or fast-moving scenes. Adjust constant quality and inspect again rather than assuming one RF works for every video.
- Motion looks uneven: Confirm that the output has not been unnecessarily converted to a different frame rate. Use Same as Source unless a production or compatibility need requires a conversion.
- Interlaced combing is visible: Deinterlace the source before uploading, then inspect motion in the output.
- Colors look wrong: For SDR, check the BT.709 setting and compare the output on a playback device that handles the file normally.
- Kannada audio is missing, unclear, or out of sync: Confirm the intended track is retained, play the encoded sample with sound, and check synchronization before uploading.
- Live stream buffers or drops frames: Compare the stream’s chosen bitrate with the available upload capacity and YouTube’s recommended ingest range for the selected resolution and frame rate. Monitor YouTube’s stream health and test before the broadcast.
- Live ingest rejects or mishandles the stream: Verify the live encoder is using a supported codec, CBR, and a keyframe interval of two seconds or less than or equal to four seconds, as applicable to YouTube’s guidance.
Copyright and repeat-play considerations
Encoding a video does not grant permission to stream its contents. Before uploading or looping a Kannada song, devotional recording, film clip, or other material, confirm that you own the rights or have the permissions and licences required for the intended use. YouTube’s policies and rights-holder actions can affect uploaded videos and live streams; review the applicable YouTube policies and the relevant rights information for your material. Repeated playback does not change who owns the underlying recording or composition.
For a continuous prerecorded broadcast, make sure the loop itself is appropriate for YouTube and does not mislead viewers about whether the content is live. HandBrake can prepare the file; it does not provide the looping or live-broadcast operation.
