To repeat a playlist in the YouTube app on an Android TV box, start the playlist, press Down on the remote while a video is playing, then select Repeat until the player shows “Repeat • Playlist.” You can also look for Repeat in the player’s Settings menu. This works as YouTube’s documented TV playlist-repeat control; it does not guarantee that a playlist of ongoing live broadcasts will move from one stream to the next.
Turn on playlist repeat in the YouTube TV app
- From the Android TV home screen, go to the Apps row and open YouTube. Android TV Help documents this route for opening the app; labels can vary by device or software version. Android TV Help.
- Find and select the playlist you want to watch, then start playback.
- While a video is playing, press Down on the remote or game controller to show the player controls.
- Select Repeat. If the control cycles through repeat modes, keep selecting it until the display reads “Repeat • Playlist.” YouTube also documents the player’s Settings menu as an alternative place to find the repeat option. YouTube Help: Loop videos or playlists on your TV.
Menu placement and wording can differ by Android TV box, YouTube app version, or locale. If you do not see the repeat control on the first screen of player controls, check Settings while the video is playing.
Does a playlist of active YouTube Live streams loop?
It may not advance as you expect. YouTube’s TV instructions explain how to repeat a playlist but do not specify how playlists containing currently live broadcasts behave on every third-party Android TV box. A live stream is a real-time broadcast, so if it remains open-ended, the usual end of a video—the point at which playback can move to the next item—may not arrive until the broadcast ends. Treat that as a practical possibility, not a documented guarantee for every device or playlist. YouTube’s loop instructions do not settle this edge case; YouTube’s live-stream guidance describes live broadcasts and replays.
If you need predictable cycling, try the Repeat • Playlist control on your box and playlist. For more reliable playlist progression, use completed live-stream replays when the channel has made them available. A channel may post a replay after a stream ends, but it is not guaranteed.

Repeat, autoplay, and DVR are different controls
- Repeat • Playlist repeats the selected playlist. This is the control to use when you want its videos played again in sequence.
- Autoplay is for playing another related video after a video ends. It is not the same as repeating the selected playlist. YouTube Help: Autoplay videos.
- DVR, when enabled for a live stream, lets viewers pause, rewind, and resume the broadcast. It does not restart a stream or loop a playlist. YouTube says DVR capability may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours; viewers also cannot seek to before the stream began. YouTube Help: DVR on live streams.
If the playlist does not repeat or advance
- You cannot find Repeat: Start a playlist item first, press Down to reveal playback controls, and check the player’s Settings menu as well. The documented control is in the TV player, not a separate Android TV box setting.
- The next item does not start: If the current item is still an active live broadcast, it may not have reached an end point. Try a playlist made of completed replays instead; YouTube does not document active-live playlist progression across all third-party boxes.
- A related video plays instead of the playlist repeating: Check that the visible mode is “Repeat • Playlist”, rather than relying on Autoplay.
- The replay is missing: The channel may not have published a replay after the live stream ended. A replay is not assured.
- You expected DVR to restart playback: DVR is for pausing, rewinding, and resuming an eligible live stream, not for looping it. Streams longer than 12 hours may have limited or unavailable DVR.
