You can run prerecorded yoga classes as a YouTube live stream by sending a playlist from a computer or dedicated encoder to YouTube Live Control Room. First enable live streaming on a verified, unrestricted channel; then connect the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and key, test the feed, and monitor it. YouTube does not guarantee an uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast, and a stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived, so plan separately for reliability and replay.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. YouTube says initial live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do it before your intended launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming enablement guidance.
- A computer running streaming software, or a dedicated hardware encoder, configured to play prerecorded classes in sequence or loop them. YouTube supports encoder workflows but does not prescribe a particular playlist or looping application. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions explain the connection process.
- Upload bandwidth that can sustain the encoder’s total bitrate, with room for fluctuations. YouTube recommends keeping 20% headroom and checking that the connection is reliable. YouTube’s encoder settings and network guidance.
- Permission to stream every part of the classes, including instruction, performances, music, graphics, and third-party footage. Rights for a live broadcast and any resulting archive matter.
- A plan for monitoring the encoder, internet connection, playback sequence, and audio/video during operation.
Prepare the yoga classes and rights
Build and check the playback sequence
Arrange the recordings in the order you want viewers to see them, and configure the encoder or playout software to repeat the sequence if that is the intended schedule. Check transitions between classes for gaps, abrupt audio changes, frozen frames, or playback that ends instead of looping. This playlist behavior is configured in your chosen encoder setup; YouTube’s encoder instructions do not specify a looping application.
Clear all content for the intended use
Confirm that you have the necessary rights to broadcast the yoga instruction and all included material worldwide on Google services, including music rights. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for those rights on the content provider and require compliance with applicable laws and territory requirements. The available guidance does not determine which Indian permissions apply to a particular creator, class, or music library; seek qualified advice where your rights are uncertain.
Create the YouTube stream and connect your encoder
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live to open Live Control Room. Create a stream using the encoder workflow. You can schedule it; YouTube says a scheduled stream can create a watch page for an upcoming event. See YouTube’s setup guidance.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the streaming settings of your encoder. The stream key is a credential: keep it private and reset it if it is exposed.
- Set the encoder’s video source and playback sequence to the prerecorded classes. Configure its output settings for the source material and the bitrate your connection can sustain. Do not exceed available upload bandwidth; YouTube recommends 20% headroom and says to account for primary and backup bitrate together when both are sending feeds. See YouTube’s bandwidth and encoder guidance.
- Enter an accurate title and description, choose audience and privacy settings, and schedule the stream if you want a planned start and an upcoming watch page.
- Start sending the encoder feed, but do not assume it is live to viewers until you have checked the preview and started the broadcast from Live Control Room as required by your encoder workflow.
Test and monitor before and during the broadcast
Before launch, check the Live Control Room preview and verify that the watch page works on the channel and on mobile devices. Confirm picture, audio, and class transitions; monitor the stream once it is live. YouTube recommends preparing the encoder in advance, monitoring quality, and testing failover where a backup encoder is available. See YouTube’s live encoder preparation guidance and its network recommendations.

For a long-running setup, arrange an operator check or alerts for encoder stoppage, connection loss, frozen video, silent audio, a playlist that has ended, and local recording or storage problems. A second encoder or network path can help with recovery, but it adds setup complexity; test that the backup can actually take over rather than assuming it will.
Choose between one continuous broadcast and shorter sessions
A single all-day stream may be convenient for viewers, but it is not a dependable YouTube replay strategy. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving and DVR guidance.
| Approach | Useful when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| One continuous stream | You prioritize an uninterrupted live schedule. | YouTube may not capture a stream exceeding 12 hours, and DVR may be limited or unavailable. |
| Shorter scheduled sessions | A YouTube replay and rewind experience matters. | Sessions require separate scheduling and transitions; the cited duration guidance does not require splitting to keep a live feed running. |
If a complete archive matters, keep a separate local recording and check that it is being saved. Do not describe a 24-hour YouTube replay as guaranteed.
India-specific monetization and compliance considerations
YouTube describes live revenue features such as ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships, but availability depends on channel eligibility and settings; an ad slot is not a promise that an ad will serve. YouTube’s Partner Program overview lists general requirements, including compliance with monetization policies, an eligible country or region, and no active Community Guidelines strikes: YouTube Partner Program overview and live-stream monetization guidance. Check the Earn or eligibility screen in YouTube Studio for your channel’s current status in India. Do not assume revenue or eligibility without that confirmation.
