Yes. OBS’s VLC Video source can display subtitles from a video’s subtitle track: add the source, enable Subtitles Enabled, then choose the appropriate Subtitle Track. The default is off, with track 1 selected. Test the actual files in OBS preview before relying on them in a continuous broadcast. These subtitles are rendered into the video OBS sends; they are not the same as viewer-selectable YouTube closed captions.
Enable subtitles in an OBS VLC Video source

Install VLC media player. The VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed; if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC.

In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene that will carry the video. Add the media files or playlist you intend to play.

Open the VLC source properties and check Subtitles Enabled. OBS documents this as off by default.

Use Subtitle Track to select the track containing the subtitles you want. The documented default is track 1. Track numbering and contents can vary by file and container, so do not assume that the same number means the same language across every item in a playlist.

Preview each relevant file and confirm the language, subtitle appearance, and timing. The OBS controls do not establish universal compatibility for every subtitle format or a universal track-number map.
OBS’s Media Sources documentation, dated January 11, 2022, describes these VLC source controls. UI labels and software support can change, so verify the controls and rendered result in the OBS version you use.

Choose between subtitles in the picture and YouTube captions
VLC-source subtitles become part of the outgoing video composition. Viewers see them whenever that video is shown, and they cannot switch that subtitle rendering off as a YouTube caption track. YouTube closed captions are a separate delivery path: YouTube Help says, “To add captions to your live stream, you need to send captions to YouTube.”

YouTube Help lists StreamText.Net among caption software examples; investigate whether it suits your workflow and confirm current availability and requirements with the provider. The cited information does not establish current partner-program terms.
Keep the VLC playlist cycling during a long stream
OBS’s VLC source lists Loop Playlist as on by default, so the source can restart its media list after reaching the end. Check the setting rather than assuming it is enabled, and test the transition from the last item back to the first.

Also inspect Visibility Behaviour. Its documented default is “Stop when not visible, restart when visible.” If the source becomes hidden in the scene, that behavior may stop playback; confirm that your scene and source visibility arrangement matches the intended broadcast.
Playlist looping is a playback setting, not a 24/7 uptime guarantee. YouTube recommends previewing and monitoring audio and video quality during an encoder stream. YouTube’s encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; treat that as a planning boundary, not a guarantee about how a particular channel’s ongoing 24/7 event or archive will behave. Check the current Live Control Room and verify the actual event and archive behavior for your channel.

Preview every playlist item that uses subtitles. Check track selection, language, rendering, and synchronization rather than testing only the first file.

Let the playlist reach its end in a test and confirm it returns to the intended starting item.

Check the source visibility behavior and watch the OBS preview during a test broadcast, including audio and video.
