For one prerecorded lesson, add it to an OBS Media Source and turn on Loop. For a sequence of lessons, use VLC Video Source and enable Loop Playlist. Then set YouTube’s encoder options to match your video, computer and stable upload speed; there is no special Hindi-language encoder preset.
Choose the right OBS source
| Option | Best for | Loop behavior and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Media Source | One local lesson file | Built-in Loop repeats the file; VLC does not need to be installed. |
| VLC Video Source | A playlist of lesson files | Loop Playlist repeats the playlist; VLC must be installed and its architecture must match OBS. For 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC. |
OBS documents common Media Source formats including MP4, MOV, MKV and WebM. See the OBS Media Sources guide.
Loop one educational video
- Add the file: In OBS, open the scene you intend to stream, select + under Sources, choose Media Source, name it, and browse to the lesson file.
- Enable repetition: In the Media Source properties, check Loop. It is off by default, so without this setting the video stops when it reaches the end.
- Check restart behavior: Restart playback when source becomes active is a separate setting, on by default. It starts the video from the beginning when its source becomes active in the current scene. It does not replace Loop for repeating a video that has finished.
- Check visibility and framing: Confirm the source is visible in the scene—the eye icon toggles visibility—and that the lesson fits the canvas as intended. OBS scenes and sources define what appears in the output; see the OBS Sources Guide.
- Decide what should happen at the end: If you want a file to stop and disappear rather than loop, OBS provides Show nothing when playback ends. For a continuous lesson stream, use Loop.
Loop a playlist of lessons
- Install VLC before configuring OBS. Match its architecture to OBS; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In the scene, add a VLC Video Source and select the lesson files in the order you want them played.
- Enable Loop Playlist. OBS documents this setting as on by default, but verify it in the source properties.
- Test the transition from the final file back to the first. If an individual file is missing or cannot play, correct the playlist before going live.
For the documented source behavior and settings, consult OBS Media Sources.
Set OBS output for YouTube
Use YouTube’s recommendations as starting targets, not guarantees. The right resolution, frame rate, encoder and bitrate depend on the lesson’s dimensions, your encoder support, computer capacity and reliable upload speed. Hindi narration or on-screen Hindi text does not change YouTube’s encoder requirements.

Connection and encoding basics
- Protocol: YouTube’s encoder guidance lists RTMP and RTMPS and recommends RTMPS.
- Codec: YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 for its documented encoder workflow. Choose a codec your OBS encoder supports reliably.
- Rate control: Use CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Frame rate: YouTube supports up to 60 fps. A lesson with slides or a talking head may not need 60 fps; choose based on the source and what your system can sustain.
These recommendations are from YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions guidance. Match the chosen settings to the codec-specific table there, since the figures below are for H.264.
H.264 bitrate reference
| Output | YouTube minimum | YouTube recommended |
|---|---|---|
| 720p30 | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p30 | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 720p60 | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p60 | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube Help’s H.264 encoder recommendations, checked in 2026; they are not a promise that a particular computer or viewer connection will sustain the stream. Choose a bitrate your upload connection can maintain, run a speed test, and leave headroom for other network traffic. When uncertain, a lower resolution or frame rate that streams steadily is preferable to an unstable higher setting.

Connect OBS to your Hindi YouTube channel
- In YouTube Studio, create or select the live stream in Live Control Room and retrieve its stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key (or use the connection method offered by your OBS version).
- Treat the key like a password: it authorizes an encoder to send video to your channel. Do not share it or show it on screen. If you think it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before streaming again.
- Confirm the intended channel and stream in Live Control Room. If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, YouTube says live enablement can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the event is about to start.
For current setup details, see Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Test before broadcasting
- Arrange a test with both audio and visible motion, not just a static frame. Check that the lesson loops or the playlist advances as expected.
- Start the encoder and inspect the preview in YouTube Live Control Room before starting the public broadcast.
- While testing and streaming, watch Live Control Room’s stream health and messages. If health degrades, lower the output demand or address the upload connection before relying on the stream.
- For a scheduled event, YouTube advises setting up the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the event.
- If you reuse a previous stream, YouTube’s Reuse settings copies metadata, settings and the stream key. Review and edit the new stream’s details before broadcasting.
See YouTube’s encoder and testing guidance and Manage live stream settings.

Common problems and fixes
- The lesson plays once and stops: Open Media Source properties and enable Loop. The restart-when-active option is not a substitute for looping.
- The video does not appear in the stream: Check that the source is visible in the active scene and that the correct scene is on the OBS output. The eye icon can hide a source.
- A playlist will not load or play: Verify VLC is installed and matches OBS’s architecture, then review the selected files and playlist order.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: Verify the stream URL and key in OBS against the selected Live Control Room stream. A mistyped, outdated or exposed key can prevent the intended connection; keep the key private.
- The stream reports poor health or drops frames: Compare the selected bitrate with your stable upload capacity, leave room for other traffic, and reduce resolution, frame rate or bitrate as needed. Re-test and monitor stream health rather than assuming the platform’s recommended maximum will work on your connection.
- First-time setup is not ready: Enable live streaming on the channel in advance; activation can take up to 24 hours.
Copyright and educational-content checks
Looping a video does not grant permission to broadcast its contents. Before streaming, make sure you have the rights to the lesson footage, music, images and any third-party clips, and check that the material complies with YouTube’s applicable policies. Educational purpose alone does not establish permission to use copyrighted material. The OBS and encoder setup guides do not determine whether a particular lesson is authorized or eligible for monetization, so resolve those rights and policy questions separately before making a stream public.
