Livestream.com stopped accepting live broadcasts on February 3, 2025. Vimeo shut down the standalone service after integrating its technology into Vimeo. The right next step depends on how you used it: Vimeo directs former Livestream Enterprise customers to Vimeo Enterprise live streaming, while Vimeo OTT users moved from Livestream-powered Live Events to Vimeo Events. Livestream Studio is a separate desktop tool and was described as continuing to operate; it does not bring back Livestream.com broadcasting.
What happened to Livestream.com?
Vimeo acquired Livestream in 2017. On February 3, 2025, Vimeo announced that it was ending Livestream as a standalone broadcasting platform, saying it had integrated Livestream technology and expanded Vimeo’s event capabilities. From that date, users could no longer broadcast live events on Livestream, and Livestream subscriptions could no longer be renewed. Livestream Enterprise phone support also ended. Vimeo’s discontinuation announcement was updated February 4, 2025.
Vimeo said users could continue logging in to download existing videos, and viewers could watch them on livestream.com or embedded pages until June 2025. That access period has passed. Do not assume old Livestream.com videos are still available; check your account and current Vimeo support guidance.
Which replacement applies to your account?

These are Vimeo’s documented migration routes, not evidence that every feature, entitlement, or price carries over unchanged. Compare the replacement against your actual audience destination, access model, live-event and archive needs, encoder workflow, account requirements, and support needs before committing. If you used Vimeo OTT Live Events
Vimeo said the Livestream-powered Live Events tab would begin removal on February 1, 2025, with future OTT live streams using Vimeo Events after the accounts are connected. According to Vimeo’s OTT transition FAQ, external encoders connected to OTT through RTMP remain supported through Vimeo Events. The FAQ also says prior live streams on the Vimeo OTT account are transcoded into on-demand videos and remain in that OTT library. That archive statement applies to Vimeo OTT; it does not establish that all Livestream.com archives survived.
Livestream Studio is not Livestream.com
Vimeo said it would continue maintaining Livestream Studio and that existing Studio dongle licenses and hardware machines would continue to operate. This refers to the desktop production tool and its existing hardware, not the discontinued hosted broadcast service. Studio availability also does not automatically transfer account entitlements between Livestream and Vimeo.

Vimeo’s Studio access guidance cautions that a paid Livestream account does not grant streaming to Vimeo, and a Vimeo account does not include the ability to stream to Livestream. Check Studio download access and the intended destination under the account and plan you will actually use.
How to choose a replacement without assuming feature parity
- Identify the audience destination: confirm where viewers will watch and whether the platform’s access model fits your event.
- Map the production workflow: determine whether you need an external encoder or RTMP input, and verify the replacement supports your setup.
- Check archive behavior: establish what happens to past broadcasts and future recordings for your specific account type. Do not infer OTT archive handling applies to Livestream.com.
- Confirm commercial and support terms: check current plan features, migration eligibility, and the support level available before purchasing or announcing a migration.
Vimeo is the documented successor route, but the available transition information does not establish a like-for-like feature or price comparison against every streaming platform. Verify the current Vimeo details for your account and event rather than relying on old Livestream plan assumptions.
