To capture an IRCTC page on Windows, use your browser’s screenshot option: choose a normal screenshot for what is visible, or a full-page capture when you need content below the screen. After saving, inspect the image and redact personal or booking details before sharing it. A screenshot of an ordinary IRCTC page is not proof of a reservation.
Choose a visible-area or full-page screenshot
- Visible area: Captures what is currently displayed in the browser window. Use this for a single screen, such as a form or a particular message.
- Full page: Captures the scrollable webpage, including content below the visible window. Use this when the relevant information continues down the page.
A Windows screen capture records what is displayed and may require multiple images for a long page. For a single continuous image of a long webpage, use the browser’s full-page capture feature.
Capture the whole IRCTC page in a browser
Firefox
- Open the relevant IRCTC page and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot controls and choose its complete-page screenshot option. The exact label and location can vary by browser release.
- Review the preview to make sure the full page was captured, then save the image locally.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the relevant IRCTC page and wait for it to finish loading.
- Open Edge DevTools and use the command named “Capture full size screenshot.” The exact interface can vary by release.
- Check the saved image from top to bottom and confirm it includes the information you intended to capture.
Browser controls change over time, so if a label is missing, check the current browser help or command menu rather than relying on an outdated shortcut. Use a current browser that IRCTC supports; its compatibility page lists Chrome 45+, Firefox 46+, Edge 13+, and Safari 10+, but those version floors are dated and should not be treated as a recommendation to install old versions. Capture only what is visible
For a single visible screen, use the screenshot method available on your Windows device or browser. Make sure the browser window shows the intended section before capturing. A visible-area screenshot will not include material farther down the page; scroll and capture additional screens if necessary, or use a full-page browser capture instead.

Inspect and protect the saved image
Before sharing, open the entire image and check every section—not just its top. IRCTC’s privacy policy describes registration information, traveller information associated with bookings, site visit data and session data. Depending on what is visible on the page, an image may expose account names, PNR or booking identifiers, passenger names, journey details, or contact and payment information. These are practical examples, not details that appear in every screenshot. Crop or redact information the recipient does not need, and keep an unredacted copy only if you have a reason to retain it. A screenshot is not necessarily a ticket
IRCTC defines a Virtual Reservation Message (VRM) as a screenshot of an e-ticket displayed through a laptop, palmtop or mobile phone. That definition applies to the e-ticket context; a screenshot of the homepage, login page, search results or an error message is not evidence that a reservation was made. IRCTC separately defines the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS) as the printed reservation document which, together with authorized identification, constitutes travel authority. IRCTC’s FAQ says that one passenger booked on an e-ticket under a PNR must carry and show an accepted photo ID in original during the journey. Its listed examples include a passport, voter identity card, driving licence, PAN card and specified government-issued or other documents. Check IRCTC’s current rules for the accepted documents; a screenshot does not replace the original-ID requirement. IRCTC FAQ
