Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To turn a live stream into a pay-per-view (PPV) event, you need both a live event that receives your video and a paid product that grants customers access. On Vimeo OTT, the documented workflow is to create the live event, create a transactional Buy/Rent product, attach the event to that product, then set it to Ready for Sale when you want it purchasable. Vimeo says PPV cannot be enabled for Rentals, and a preorder does not automatically become available when the broadcast begins.
1. Choose a platform that supports paid live access
Before promoting tickets, confirm that the specific service and account can sell one-time access to a live event. Check creator eligibility, availability where you and your audience are located, payment and payout terms, refund and tax policies, supported viewing devices, and whether a replay is included. These details vary by platform and account; the Vimeo workflow below is a documented example, not a universal setup.
Vimeo’s OTT live-stream creation page says live streaming requires an OTT Enterprise plan with live streaming enabled and a Premium, Advanced, or Enterprise Vimeo.com account. Vimeo’s separate general live-event FAQ describes Advanced or Premium or Enterprise with Events added. Those requirements are described in different Vimeo product contexts, so confirm the current requirements for your exact account before planning a sale.
Other monetization models serve different purposes: a one-time event generally fits PPV, a recurring library may suit subscription access, and a free event can help build an audience. Vimeo OTT also describes advertising-supported, free, transactional purchase/rental, and subscription models; availability is not necessarily the same for every service or account. Its guide says advertising-based video is Enterprise-only and requires Google Ad Manager, and some ad placements require Google Ad Manager 360.

- Compact but Powerful Design: ZowieBox is smaller than a phone, featuring a tally light and LCD screen for streaming status. Capture console gameplay in up to 4K with zero-lag HDMI passthrough, while the built-in video encoder converts video for IP streaming. The IP stream can also be decoded back to a 4K HDMI signal.
- Standalone Game Streaming: Just plug and play—ZowieBox enables PC-free live gaming without affecting gameplay. As an RTMP hardware encoder and HDMI streamer, it delivers stable streaming directly from your source, making it ideal for gaming, live events, and professional broadcasting.
- NDI|HX3 Converter Technology: ZowieBox converts HDMI signals to NDI|HX3/HX2/HX, functioning as an NDI video encoder, or NDI Video Decoder for flexible IP workflows. Certified NDI technology enables low-latency gameplay streaming through OBS/vMix. Note: Encoder and decoder modes cannot run simultaneously; full NDI signals are not supported.
- UVC to HDMI Conversion: Supporting up to 4K@30fps and 1080p@60fps decoding, ZowieBox enables flexible conversion for webcam and video workflows. As a video decoder and HDMI to IP converter, it expands connectivity options for professional video devices. Note: USB capture card functionality is not currently supported.
- All-around Configuration Options: Control ZowieBox through its web UI on a PC, phone, or tablet. Manage connected PTZ cameras, tally light, video/audio, OSD, work mode, streams, network, and system settings. Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
2. Create and configure the live event
- Open Vimeo OTT’s live-event setup and create the event. Set a clear title, description, and thumbnail so buyers can identify the broadcast.
- Choose how to send video. Vimeo OTT supports an RTMP encoder workflow and a web-based studio option. For RTMP, copy the event’s server URL and stream key into an encoder such as OBS, Wirecast, XSplit, or Livestream Studio.
- Set event interaction and distribution. Enable chat, Q&A, or polls if available and appropriate. Decide who can access the live event and confirm the event’s distribution settings.
- Check the video path. A typical setup is camera or other source → encoder or studio → platform event → customer. You need a reliable internet connection and a camera connected to a supported encoder for the encoder route.
A USB HDMI capture card may be needed if your camera or HDMI source must feed a computer-based encoder, but it is not a universal requirement. Check the camera’s output, computer inputs, and encoder requirements before buying equipment. A simpler webcam setup may not need the same gear as a multi-camera production.
3. Create the paid product and attach the event
- In Vimeo OTT, create a transactional Buy/Rent product for the event.
- Open the product’s Content tab and select the live event to attach it.
- Set the product to Ready for Sale when customers should be able to purchase it.
Vimeo says PPV cannot be enabled for Rentals. If you set up a preorder, it will not automatically switch to Ready for Sale when the broadcast starts; you must release it yourself. Make that release part of your event-day checklist.
4. Set ticket timing and explain what buyers receive
Choose when sales open and make the ticket terms clear before customers pay. State the advertised start time and time zone, whether access is live-only or includes a replay, how long any replay remains available, what sign-in or supported device is required, and where customers should look for their viewing link or access instructions. Confirm those details in the exact service and account you plan to use; the sources cited here do not establish universal fee, payout, refund, tax, or customer-access terms.

Vimeo recommends using preview mode and, when sending start notifications, going live several minutes before the advertised start. A “starting soon” slate gives viewers time to arrive without exposing an unprepared program feed.
5. Rehearse the stream and the purchase journey
Test early, repeat the test, and rehearse the event. Confirm the video reaches the event, the product is visible and purchasable at the intended time, checkout works, and a signed-in customer can access the stream. Check any stream-health monitoring available to you. A technically sound encoder feed does not by itself prove that the ticket product and viewer access are configured correctly.
- Verify the event’s server URL and stream key in the encoder.
- Check the camera/source, audio, network connection, and event preview.
- Test product visibility, purchase, sign-in, and playback using the service’s available test or preview options.
- Confirm the event start notification and customer instructions match the ticket window and time zone.
6. Decide what happens to the recording after the broadcast
Plan replay access before going live. On Vimeo OTT, ending the broadcast begins transcoding the event into a video-on-demand (VOD) version. After transcoding, that VOD replaces the live event in the Buy/Rent product unless you remove it. Vimeo allows live-event and VOD distribution settings to be configured separately; custom VOD distribution can use different subscription plans, collections, categories, products, or regions.

Built-in OSD generator adds scrolling text, logos, or timestamps directly to the video stream — ideal for branding, event info, or security labeling. Backed by a 1-year warranty and 24/7 online technical support.
Vimeo Help Center recommends leaving the VOD available for at least 24 hours so ticket buyers who had technical difficulties still have a chance to watch. Decide whether your replay will stay available, for how long, and whether it should keep the live event’s access rules or use different distribution settings.
7. Troubleshoot common PPV event problems
The stream reaches the encoder but not the event
Check that the encoder uses the server URL and stream key for the correct event, then verify the source and network connection. Use the event preview and available stream-health indicators to isolate whether the issue is in the feed or the event setup.

A buyer cannot watch after purchasing
Verify the customer is signed in to the account used for the purchase, is following the event’s access instructions, and is using a supported viewing method. Test this journey before the event and provide a clear support route in your event communications.
Customers miss the beginning or have playback trouble
Start the broadcast several minutes before the advertised start if sending notifications, and use a starting-soon slate while viewers arrive. Keep the VOD available for a post-event viewing window if your setup supports it; Vimeo recommends at least 24 hours.
The replay has different access from the live event
Review VOD distribution settings separately from the event’s live settings. On Vimeo OTT, the transcoded VOD replaces the live event in the Buy/Rent product unless removed, so verify the resulting customer experience after transcoding.

What YouTube’s PPV help page does—and does not—establish
YouTube’s viewer-facing help page describes buying tickets to selected PPV events and says selected events can currently be purchased and watched in the US. It describes viewers signing in, buying a ticket, and receiving an email with a viewing link. That viewer guidance does not establish that every creator can publish a PPV event or explain creator-side setup requirements; check official creator documentation before choosing YouTube as the ticketing platform.
