On a Jetson Nano, open the YouTube playlist in a browser, start one of its videos, expand the playlist panel, and select Loop. That repeats the selected playlist—not just the current video. However, YouTube’s documentation does not explain whether a playlist will advance after an item that is currently live ends, or guarantee unattended playback on a Nano. Test the exact playlist and setup before relying on it.

Loop a YouTube playlist in the Nano’s browser

  1. Open the desktop and a browser. Connect to the Nano’s desktop, or access it remotely, and open YouTube in a browser available for your installed software image. NVIDIA’s Jetson Nano Developer Kit getting-started guide describes a desktop setup with a display, keyboard, and mouse. If setting up a card from scratch, NVIDIA recommends a 32 GB UHS-1 microSD card; this is a setup recommendation, not a requirement of YouTube’s loop control.
  2. Open the playlist and start an item. Select a video from the playlist so the playlist panel is available beside the player.
  3. Expand the playlist panel and select Loop. YouTube’s computer instructions use the Loop control in the playlist panel. The player’s repeat behavior can depend on which control is selected: playlist Loop repeats the playlist rather than only one item. See YouTube’s instructions for looping videos or playlists.
  4. Check what happens at the end of a live item. If the selected entry is broadcasting live, observe the playlist when that stream stops or ends. YouTube’s published playlist instructions do not specify whether an ongoing live item advances to the next playlist entry under Loop.

Control placement and labels can vary as YouTube updates its interface. On a TV or console interface, YouTube documents a Repeat control; select it until it indicates that the playlist is repeating. The TV/console controls may not match the computer interface.

Loop, Autoplay, and live streams are different

  • Playlist Loop repeats the selected playlist. It is the control to use when you want the playlist to cycle.
  • Autoplay is separate: YouTube describes it as playing another related video after a video ends. It is not a substitute for repeating a particular playlist. See YouTube’s Autoplay help.
  • A live broadcast is real-time media. After a stream ends, a channel may post a replay or highlights, but YouTube’s help wording does not promise that every broadcast becomes a replay. See YouTube’s overview of live streams.

For a playlist containing live entries, these distinctions matter: the documented Loop control tells you how to repeat a playlist, but it does not establish what happens when an entry is still live, ends, or has no replay. Do not assume that the next entry will start automatically or that the playlist will continue indefinitely.

What the Jetson Nano can—and cannot—tell you about playback

NVIDIA lists the original Jetson Nano with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 CPU, 4 GB of memory, HDMI 2.0/eDP display connectivity, and HEVC decode capability. Its specifications list HEVC decoding of up to 1× 4K at 60 fps or 4× 1080p at 60 fps. Those are hardware capability figures, not a guarantee of smooth YouTube playback in a particular browser, codec, or software image. Check the Jetson Nano specifications and test the browser actually installed on your board.

The Nano is a previous-generation Developer Kit. Use Nano-specific instructions and versioned software documentation rather than assuming setup steps for current Jetson products apply. NVIDIA’s Jetson software documentation and support index identify the relevant legacy resources.

Test before using the playlist unattended

  1. Use the same Nano software image, browser, network, and playlist you intend to deploy.
  2. Confirm that ordinary playlist videos play and that the playlist Loop control is visibly enabled.
  3. Observe a live entry through the point when the broadcast stops or ends. Check whether it advances, remains on the ended item, or behaves differently in your setup.
  4. If the channel publishes a replay, verify whether that replay is a playlist entry and whether it plays as expected. Do not assume one exists for every broadcast.
  5. Repeat the test after any browser, YouTube interface, or Nano software change that could affect playback.

This is a compatibility check, not a capability NVIDIA or YouTube has guaranteed for every Nano/browser combination.

Troubleshooting

The playlist repeats only the current video

Check that you selected Loop from the playlist panel rather than a control that repeats only the current item. On a TV or console, use the Repeat control until its state indicates playlist repeat.

The next related video plays instead of the next playlist item

Autoplay and playlist Loop are distinct. Turn on playlist Loop in the playlist panel; Autoplay chooses a related video after an item ends and does not mean the selected playlist is repeating.

The playlist stops at a live entry

YouTube’s published help does not document advancement from a live playlist item when a broadcast ends. Check whether the stream ended and whether the channel posted a replay, then test the exact playlist again. There is no documented setting here that guarantees the Nano will skip to the next entry.

Playback stutters or fails in the browser

The Nano’s published hardware decode figures do not certify a specific browser, YouTube codec, or software image. Confirm the browser and software versions in use, try a lower playback resolution as a diagnostic, and test the same video and network on the actual deployment setup. A successful hardware decode specification alone cannot establish browser playback compatibility.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep prerecorded videos live on YouTube around the clock rather than watch a playlist in a Nano browser, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos in the cloud, so no computer or home connection has to stay on. It supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream, and gives each account one free day with no card required. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it does not broadcast from a camera. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
