Streamlabs Ultra is most likely worth considering if you regularly multistream, want its premium overlays, or will use several of the creator apps in the bundle. If you only need basic streaming, alerts, and a few overlays, Streamlabs’ free tier may be enough. The price needs extra care: Streamlabs’ own pages show conflicting figures, so check the billing term and total at checkout before subscribing.
What Streamlabs offers for free
Streamlabs’ free tier includes live-streaming software, widgets, built-in overlay themes and alerts, a basic tip page, Cloudbot moderation, and free versions of several creator apps. Its FAQ describes the free overlay library as containing more than 300 overlays and says Streamlabs does not take a cut of tips; payment processor fees may still apply. Those are Streamlabs’ descriptions of its offering, not an independent assessment.
The current plan comparison lists free users as having one horizontal and one vertical output through Dual Output, limited themes and app access, five active automations, 100 lifetime Sidekick interactions, one guest or camera, and 1 GB of cloud storage. Streamlabs says Streamlabs Desktop is built on top of the OBS engine; that is the company’s description of its software lineage.
What Ultra adds
Streamlabs’ current Ultra plan page lists paid features across streaming and creator apps. The bundle is broad, but the practical value depends on whether you will use the particular features rather than merely having access to them.

Creator apps and platform-specific features
Streamlabs’ support comparison describes Ultra benefits across Desktop, Mobile, Console, Talk Studio, Podcast Editor, Cross Clip, and Video Editor. Examples on that comparison include Podcast Editor uploads up to 40 hours and watermark removal, 250 GB of Cross Clip storage, and Video Editor exports at 1080p/60fps. These app-specific limits and features may change; confirm the current plan details and platform availability for your workflow.
For mobile streamers, Streamlabs lists multistreaming, mobile themes, watermark removal, and disconnect protection among Ultra features. Streamlabs Console offers Xbox streaming without a PC or capture card. That no-card route is specific to the Xbox Console workflow; other console setups may involve a capture device and Streamlabs Desktop. Ultra itself does not make a capture card a universal requirement.

Streamlabs Ultra pricing: check the checkout total
As checked October 3, 2026, Streamlabs’ Ultra page displayed “Starting at $15.75/mo.” Its FAQ listed $27 per month or $189 per year, while its Desktop page showed $27 monthly and $179 yearly. The trial FAQ repeated $27 per month or $189 per year. The reviewed official pages do not explain whether the starting figure is an annual equivalent, reflects a promotion or geography, or why the two yearly amounts differ.
These figures should not be treated as one universally verified price. Before subscribing, check the billing interval, renewal amount, and total shown at checkout. Streamlabs’ pages also describe more than 60 app add-ons as part of the optional Ultra upgrade; check the live plan page for what is currently included.

Who is likely to find Ultra worthwhile?
It may fit creators who use the bundle
Ultra is a more plausible fit if you regularly multistream to supported destinations, want premium overlays and widgets, or expect to use multiple included apps. A creator who would otherwise pay for several separate tools may find the bundle useful, but that depends on the apps, limits, and billing price that apply to their account.
It is harder to justify for basic streaming
If your current needs are covered by Streamlabs’ free streaming software, alerts, widgets, and limited themes, a paid plan may add little practical value. The feature list alone does not establish that Ultra improves stream performance, grows an audience, or pays for itself. Compare only features you expect to use against the checkout price you would actually pay.

Do you need a capture card?
Not simply to subscribe to Ultra. Streamlabs says Xbox Console can provide a streaming path without a PC or capture card. Other console or platform workflows may use a capture device with Streamlabs Desktop, depending on the hardware and setup. If you are shopping for one, match the device to your console, computer, resolution, and frame-rate needs; the Streamlabs pages reviewed do not establish a particular make or model.
