To show an on-screen alert when someone gifts YouTube channel memberships, enable channel memberships on YouTube, connect the correct channel to Streamlabs, then add a gift-specific variation to the YouTube Members event in Alert Box. Add the Alert Box widget to your stream scene and test it before going live.
Before you start: enable YouTube channel memberships
YouTube channel memberships must be eligible and turned on before you configure the Streamlabs integration. In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Memberships and complete the enablement flow if it is available. The Memberships tab appears only for eligible channels. After joining the YouTube Partner Program, YouTube says eligibility review and activation can take up to two days. See YouTube’s channel memberships guidance.
YouTube’s third-party integration instructions also say to make sure Channel memberships or Super Chat is eligible and turned on before connecting Streamlabs.
Connect the right YouTube channel to Streamlabs
- Sign in to Streamlabs using the Google account credentials for the channel you want to use.
- Follow Streamlabs’ on-screen instructions to link YouTube.
- Check that the linked account is the channel whose live stream will display the alert. If you linked the wrong account, switch or reconnect the intended channel before setting up the event.
Set up a membership-gifting alert variation
- Open the Streamlabs Dashboard and select Alert Box.
- Select the YouTube Members event, then add an alert variation.
- Choose the condition that fits the alert you want:
- Membership gift amount is [amount] to match a particular gift amount.
- User gifted at least [amount] members at once to trigger at or above a gift-count threshold.
- Membership gift level is [level name] to target a membership level.
- Name the variation so you can identify it later. Set its available image or GIF, sound, text, animation, duration, and other alert options, then save.
Streamlabs’ Alert Box variations guide lists those gift-related conditions for YouTube Members. The available conditions depend on the selected platform and event, so if the gift options are missing, first confirm you selected YouTube and Members.

The Members event can cover ordinary membership activity as well as gifts. A variation lets you give gifting its own appearance or target a threshold without treating it as a separate platform event.
Put the Alert Box in your live scene
In Streamlabs Desktop
- Open the scene you will use for the broadcast.
- In Sources, select the + button.
- Choose Alert Box and add it to the scene. Confirm it is visible and positioned where you want alerts to appear.
In other streaming software
- Copy the Alert Box widget link from the Streamlabs Dashboard.
- Add it to your streaming scene as a browser source.
- If you use event filters, check that the selected alert types allow the Members event to display through that widget.
Streamlabs’ YouTube alerts guide covers widget placement and testing. A variation saved in the dashboard will not appear in the broadcast unless the corresponding Alert Box widget is in the active scene.

Preview and test the alert
- While editing, preview the alert to check its appearance and sound.
- In the Streamlabs Dashboard alert settings, use Test and select the alert type.
- In Streamlabs Desktop, use Test Widgets and select the event.
A test checks the configured overlay path; it does not prove that YouTube has received a real membership gift. Streamlabs documents these test controls in its YouTube alerts guide, last updated April 25, 2025. Its variations guide was last updated June 12, 2026.
Membership gifts are not Gifts powered by Jewels

YouTube describes Jewels Gifts as a separate feature for eligible vertical and horizontal live streams. Its availability and stream or chat restrictions depend on YouTube’s rules and supported locations; it is not the membership-gifting alert variation in Streamlabs. The Members event or gift conditions are missing
- Confirm the selected Streamlabs platform is YouTube and the event is Members.
- Verify that channel memberships are eligible and enabled in YouTube Studio under Earn > Memberships.
- Check that Streamlabs is connected to the intended YouTube channel.
The test runs, but the alert is absent from the live scene
- In Streamlabs Desktop, verify the Alert Box source is in the active scene.
- In other software, confirm the browser source uses the correct Streamlabs widget link and is in the scene currently being broadcast.
- Check event filters, then test the widget again.
YouTube chat shows a welcome message but there is no Streamlabs overlay
YouTube says an ordinary new membership during a live stream can generate a bright green Welcome message in chat, pinned for five minutes. That native chat notice is separate from a Streamlabs visual alert. Check the Members variation and the Alert Box widget in your scene.

You went to Earn > Supers & gifts but cannot find the membership alert
That YouTube Studio area is for the separate Gifts powered by Jewels feature, which requires accepting the Virtual Items Module. For membership-gifting alerts in Streamlabs, configure the YouTube Members variation in Alert Box.
No recipient receives a gift
Streamlabs alert settings cannot change YouTube’s gifting eligibility. Recipients must opt in, and YouTube’s cited instructions exclude people signed in through Brand Accounts and existing channel members from receiving gifted memberships. Check YouTube’s gifted-membership guidance for the current recipient rules.
