You can set a Super Chat goal using YouTube’s built-in goal controls, if Super Chat is enabled for your eligible channel. For a separate progress widget inside your broadcast scene, configure Streamlabs’ Super Chat Goal and add it to Streamlabs Desktop or OBS as a source. These are different options: the Streamlabs overlay is not required to use YouTube’s native goal.
Choose between YouTube’s native goal and an on-stream widget

YouTube’s feature requires Super Chat to be turned on and available to your channel. YouTube’s current guidance describes goals for horizontal live streams and Premieres, as well as desktop and mobile live streams and mobile vertical live streams. Viewers can purchase Super Chats that contribute to a goal on mobile and web. Availability and controls can change, so check the controls shown in your current YouTube Studio or live setup. Set a native Super Chat goal on YouTube
- Confirm Super Chat is enabled. Check whether the feature is available to your channel and turned on. YouTube links to its channel eligibility guidance from the Goals help page.
- Start a supported live stream or Premiere. YouTube says its goal controls are available in live chat and Live Control Room after the stream begins.
- Open the goal controls available in your setup. On mobile, YouTube’s general instructions describe selecting the bullseye icon, setting a target and timer, adding a short description, and selecting Start goal. That example is framed around a gift-goal screen; Super Chat controls may differ by format. Follow the controls displayed for your stream rather than assuming every setup has identical options.
- Choose the goal details and start it. Set the available target and other details, then start the goal using the on-screen control.
YouTube allows one active goal at a time. When it is reached, you can start another. A purchase does not guarantee that the goal will be completed or that a creator will provide a celebration. YouTube also advises creators not to use goals to raise money for specific items or expenses; viewers purchase digital goods, not the goal itself. See YouTube’s goal guidance.
Add a Streamlabs Super Chat Goal widget to Streamlabs Desktop or OBS
Use this path if you want goal progress displayed as part of your broadcast scene rather than relying only on YouTube’s native goal interface. Streamlabs documents the widget for YouTube Super Chats and supports using its widget URL as an OBS browser source. Streamlabs setup guide

- Connect your YouTube account. Sign in at Streamlabs.com and connect or sign in with YouTube.
- Open the widget settings. In Streamlabs, open All Widgets and select Super Chat Goal.
- Configure and save the goal. Set its name, amount, end time, and visual settings, then save.
- Add it to Streamlabs Desktop or OBS.
- Streamlabs Desktop: Add a source and select Super Chat Goal under Widgets.
- OBS: Open the Super Chat Goal widget in Streamlabs, copy its widget URL, add a Browser Source in OBS, and paste the URL.
Keep the widget URL private. Streamlabs warns against showing or sharing it publicly. Anyone with access to it may be able to view the widget, so avoid displaying it in a screen share or public post. Streamlabs’ guide
Streamlabs also describes customization options including fonts and colors; its product page says advanced customization can use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Streamlabs widget overview

Common setup problems
- You cannot find YouTube’s goal controls: Check that Super Chat is enabled and available to your channel, and that you have started a supported stream or Premiere. Controls and supported formats can vary; consult the current controls in your live setup.
- The native controls do not match the instructions: YouTube’s example mobile steps describe a gift-goal screen, and do not establish that every Super Chat goal uses identical labels or steps. Use the options actually shown for your format.
- The goal does not appear in OBS: Confirm that you added a Browser Source and pasted the widget URL copied from the Super Chat Goal widget in Streamlabs.
- You want the goal inside Streamlabs Desktop: Add a source and choose Super Chat Goal under Widgets; the OBS browser-source URL procedure is not the Desktop procedure.
- You are trying to start a second goal: YouTube allows only one active goal. Start another after the current goal is reached.
