To set up a charity livestream goal, first choose a fundraising tool that routes donations to the charity, create and publish a campaign with a clear target, then add that campaign’s progress widget or native donate controls to your stream. A normal creator tip, subscription, or general on-screen goal is not automatically a charitable donation.
1. Choose a donation route that actually supports the charity
Decide where donations will go before building a goal bar. Use the charity’s own fundraising tool or a platform that routes payments to the charity and explains what receipt donors receive. Twitch’s guidance distinguishes charity donations through a charity tool from tips, subscriptions, Bits, gifted subscriptions, and similar payments made to a streamer, even if the streamer later donates the proceeds. Twitch says it has no product for charitable donations via Bits and subscriptions. See Twitch’s charitable donations guidance.
Twitch lists fundraising services such as betterplace, DonorDrive, JustGiving, Streamlabs Charity, and Tiltify as examples. That does not mean every service supports every charity, creator, region, or overlay feature; confirm the intended charity and campaign options in the platform before promoting the event.
Consider YouTube Giving if your channel is eligible
YouTube Giving can provide native fundraising features, but eligibility is limited. YouTube Help lists requirements including being based in an available location, having at least 10,000 subscribers, being in the YouTube Partner Program, and not being designated as made for kids. Check the current YouTube Giving FAQs and the setup flow for current location and channel eligibility.

YouTube says the fundraiser’s donate button appears after its specified start date. For a donate button in mobile live chat, live chat must be enabled and viewers need to see chat in portrait mode; made-for-kids settings can remove the button. Test what viewers see before the event.
Do not use a general YouTube goal as a fundraiser
YouTube’s general Goals feature is separate from YouTube Giving. YouTube Help states: “Not a fundraising tool: Avoid using goals to raise money for specific items or expenses.” Use a charity fundraiser to collect donations; if you display a separate progress indicator, label it clearly so viewers understand what it measures. 2. Create and publish the fundraiser
For Streamlabs Charity, the official setup guidance gives this workflow. Platform controls can change, so confirm the current labels in your account before the stream.
- Choose the charity. Browse the registered charities available in Streamlabs Charity and select the organization you intend to support.
- Create an account. Sign up with email and password or a social login. Streamlabs’ help guidance says the account email may need to be verified.
- Build the campaign. Choose Fundraise, then enter a campaign name, description, live date, and donation goal.
- Create and publish it. Once ready, publish the campaign. Share its resulting charity tip page so viewers can donate and see the fundraising total.
- Check the viewer journey. Open the donation page yourself, confirm the correct charity and target are shown, and make sure the page works on mobile as well as desktop.

3. Put the donation progress on your stream
Add the Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal widget
- In the Streamlabs dashboard, open All Widgets.
- Under Goals, select Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal.
- Adjust the widget’s appearance and save your settings.
- In Streamlabs Desktop, add the goal through the Sources panel as a widget source.
- In OBS Studio, copy the widget URL from its settings, add a Browser source, paste the URL, then position and size it in the scene.
- Keep the widget URL private. Streamlabs warns not to show it on stream.
If you want charity alerts as well as a progress bar, link your Streamlabs account to the published campaign and configure charity alerts in the alert box settings. Test an alert and the widget in a private or otherwise controlled preview before the event.
Check the widget’s current status
Do not confuse the Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal described in the charity setup guide with the separately named Twitch Charity Donation Goal widget. Streamlabs published a notice on March 13, 2026, last updated June 12, 2026, saying the Twitch Charity Donation Goal widget was scheduled to be sunset on April 12, 2026. That notice concerns the Twitch-named widget; it does not establish that the Streamlabs Charity Donation Goal widget is unavailable. Check the current widget list in your account rather than assuming either widget is supported. See Streamlabs’ widget status notice.

4. Verify the setup before you go live
- Charity and routing: Confirm the campaign names the intended organization and that donations are made through the fundraiser, not sent to your personal creator-payment account.
- Target and dates: Check the goal amount, campaign description, live date, and publication status.
- Viewer access: Open the donation page and test the relevant native donate controls. For YouTube Giving, verify eligibility and whether the button is visible in the watch page or mobile chat.
- Overlay: Confirm the progress bar is readable, correctly placed, and updating against the right campaign. Do not expose a private widget URL.
- Alerts: If enabled, trigger a test alert and check that it is linked to the published campaign.
- Disclosure: Explain on stream where donations go and whether the displayed progress reflects donations received through that campaign. Do not describe tips or subscriptions as charity donations unless the platform actually routes them through its charity mechanism.
5. Compare routes against the event’s needs

Available features and eligibility vary by platform, charity, and location. The listed providers are not interchangeable, and the cited official guidance does not establish a current, complete comparison across them. Confirm the details with the platform you select.
