To repeat prerecorded videos as one continuous YouTube live broadcast in Castr, create a Pre-Recorded Stream, add and order your MP4 files, select Loop, connect YouTube as the destination, and start the stream. If you mean a channel lineup with programs starting at specific times or on particular dates, use Castr’s separate TV Playout feature instead.

Choose the right Castr workflow

Need Pre-Recorded Stream TV Playout
Main purpose Repeat a playlist as a continuous live broadcast. Schedule a channel lineup with timed programs, gaps, or live inserts.
Content Uploaded videos or recorded videos in your Castr library. VOD, Live-to-VOD, and livestream items; breaks can fill gaps.
Timing Loop starts when enabled; a scheduled start is a separate mode. Timed items and breaks are arranged in a dated schedule that you apply.
Limits to check File count, file size, and whether looping is available on your plan. Loop window, files per playout, break requirements, and plan limits.

Use Pre-Recorded Stream Loop when the same ordered playlist should repeat. Choose TV Playout when the order must follow a timetable, such as a program beginning at a specific hour each day. Castr’s product limits for the two features differ; do not assume a file or loop limit for one applies to the other.

Set up a repeating prerecorded playlist

  1. In the Castr Dashboard, open Pre-Recorded Streams and create a new stream.
  2. Add videos by uploading them or selecting recorded videos already in your Castr library. Castr’s current guide says this workflow supports MP4 files.
  3. Reorder the videos into the sequence you want. Disable any entry you do not want included; Castr says the displayed total duration updates as you change the playlist.
  4. Choose Loop as the scheduling mode. Castr’s guide says Infinite Loop starts immediately once enabled, so do not select it if the broadcast must begin at a later time.
  5. Add YouTube as a destination, authenticate or select the saved platform, and make sure its toggle is on. Castr’s YouTube instructions describe connecting through YouTube Events, then choosing a new event or an existing one.
  6. Start the stream, then check that the selected YouTube destination is receiving it. Confirm the correct event is selected before starting.

Castr’s pre-recorded setup guidance is dated July 8, 2026. Its YouTube-specific instructional article was originally published December 21, 2024 and updated March 24, 2026; if dashboard labels have changed, follow the current labels shown in your account.

Schedule a channel lineup with TV Playout

TV Playout is the better fit for a lineup that changes over time rather than a single playlist repeating in the same order. Castr’s July 13, 2026 setup article describes TV Playout as a way to schedule content for continuous, 24-hour broadcast. It is a separate tool with its own plan limits and activation process.

  • TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
  1. Create a Livestream destination first and configure it to deliver to YouTube.
  2. In TV Playout, choose Schedule for a dated sequence of items, or Loop for a repeating playlist. Castr says a loop requires an end date.
  3. Set the broadcast date and time, then add the desired VOD, Live-to-VOD, or livestream items. Add breaks where you need a gap in the schedule.
  4. For a program that must start at a particular time, use a break to fill the gap until that start. Castr’s scheduling guide gives an example of ending a break one second before the next program’s target start; the TV Playout guide says breaks must be at least two minutes long.
  5. Review the schedule and displayed time zone, then click Set Schedule to apply it. Changes to an active schedule also need to be applied with this control.
  6. Check that the start date, destination, and at least one timetable item are set before activation. Castr says an item currently on air cannot be moved or replaced while live.

Before relying on a timed start, verify the time zone shown in the scheduler: Castr says it matches the device’s time zone. Check the actual schedule display in your account, particularly if you are planning across dates or working in a different zone from the device.

Check media, plan limits, and YouTube readiness

  • MP4 and file limits: Castr’s current pre-recorded guide specifies MP4 support. File-size and number-of-file limits vary by subscription.
  • Pre-Recorded Stream looping: Castr’s product page lists infinite looping on Premium and higher. It lists two files per stream on Starter and Standard, ten on Premium, and fifteen on Ultra. These are Castr-published plan figures displayed October 3, 2026; verify current terms before choosing a plan because limits can change.
  • TV Playout limits are separate: Castr’s product page lists a loop window of up to 15 days ahead on Premium and up to 30 days on Ultra and Events; longer runs are directed to sales. Check that page for current TV Playout file and loop limits rather than applying the Pre-Recorded Stream figures.
  • YouTube account readiness: Castr documents connecting YouTube as an event destination, but that does not establish that every YouTube account is eligible or ready to create or use an event. Check your channel’s current status and event options in YouTube Studio.
  • Rights and channel policies: Use videos you have the rights to stream, including any music, footage, or other included material. A scheduled broadcast does not by itself establish that the content complies with YouTube’s copyright rules or channel policies; review YouTube’s current requirements for your channel.

Common scheduling problems and fixes

  • The playlist is not repeating: Check that the scheduling mode is Loop, rather than a one-time schedule. Confirm your subscription includes the looping behavior you need.
  • The broadcast began immediately instead of later: Infinite Loop starts immediately once enabled. For a start at a chosen time, use the scheduled-start option for the prerecorded stream or build a timed TV Playout schedule.
  • A file cannot be added: Confirm it is an MP4 for the Pre-Recorded Stream workflow, then check your plan’s file count and file-size limits.
  • YouTube is not receiving the stream: Confirm YouTube is connected as the destination, the destination toggle is on, and the intended event is selected. Check event readiness in YouTube Studio; Castr setup guidance cannot confirm eligibility for an individual channel.
  • A program starts at the wrong time: Check the device time zone used by Castr’s scheduler and compare it with the displayed start time. Review breaks and item order, then apply edits with Set Schedule.
  • You cannot change the item currently on air: Castr says the live item cannot be replaced or moved while on air. Plan changes around the active item and apply the revised schedule when permitted.
