If Hindi text is wrong in a URL2PNG screenshot, first check whether it also looks wrong in a regular browser. A site-side font or loading problem needs a site-side fix; if the page is correct in a browser but not in URL2PNG, test the service’s documented CSS and delay options, bypass any cached image, and send a reproducible example to support if the difference persists. A delay can help diagnose late font loading, but it cannot add missing Devanagari glyphs to a font.

First find out where the Hindi rendering breaks

  1. Open the exact target page in a current desktop browser and inspect the affected Hindi text.
  2. If it is incorrect there too, investigate the website’s font choice and font loading before changing URL2PNG settings.
  3. If it looks correct in the browser but not in the URL2PNG image, compare the font requests and capture settings as described below.

Hindi text can fail because the selected font lacks Devanagari glyphs, a webfont request fails, the font loads too late, or the hosted renderer behaves differently from the browser you checked. URL2PNG’s public documentation does not diagnose which cause applies to a particular site.

Check the font and its delivery

Confirm Devanagari coverage

Verify that the font selected for the affected text includes Devanagari glyphs. A CSS rule can select a font, but it cannot supply glyphs that the font does not contain. Check the computed font for the text in your browser’s developer tools and confirm the intended font file—not merely a fallback—is being used.

Check font-file requests

In the browser’s network tools, look for failed font requests and confirm that the intended webfont loads successfully. If the site uses a separate font stylesheet or remote font files, make sure the capture renderer can reach those assets. URL2PNG documents CSS injection but does not specify cross-origin, authentication, or font-loading restrictions for injected stylesheets and their assets.

Use URL2PNG’s CSS option to select a suitable font

URL2PNG documents the custom_css_url option, which applies a stylesheet during capture. Use that stylesheet to select a Hindi-capable font that is already available to the page and capture renderer. For example, the stylesheet could contain a targeted rule such as:

/* Example only: replace the selector and font family with your own. */
.article-content {
  font-family: "Your Devanagari-capable font", sans-serif;
}

Host the stylesheet where the capture renderer can access it, then pass its URL using URL2PNG’s documented custom_css_url parameter. See the URL2PNG Quickstart Guide for request syntax and option details. This option does not establish that customers can install fonts on URL2PNG’s machines; if the chosen font is not reachable or does not contain Devanagari, CSS alone will not solve the problem.

Test delay only if the font loads late

URL2PNG documents delay as a fixed wait after document readiness and asset loading. Try a small delay when your browser checks show that the font arrives late or the result changes with additional loading time. Increase it only enough to test that timing hypothesis. A delay is not a remedy for missing glyph coverage or a font request that consistently fails.

Use language and capture options for their intended jobs

  • accept_languages: overrides the HTTP Accept-Language header. It may matter if your site serves different content by language, but URL2PNG does not document it as a way to choose or install fonts or fix Devanagari shaping.
  • unique: use this when retesting a changed font or stylesheet so you can request a fresh screenshot rather than relying on an older cached result.
  • ttl: the quickstart lists a default of 2,592,000 seconds (30 days). URL2PNG’s plans page also says cached screenshots are retained for 30 days by default.
  • viewport and fullpage: the quickstart lists a default viewport of 1480 × 1037 and a default fullpage value of false. These affect capture size, not font coverage.

Find these options in the URL2PNG Quickstart Guide. URL2PNG advertises “Webfonts, Typekit” on its product page; that is a general vendor capability claim, not a Hindi- or Devanagari-specific guarantee.

Escalate a repeatable URL2PNG-only difference

If the page displays correctly in a normal browser and still renders Hindi incorrectly in URL2PNG after you have checked font coverage, font delivery, timing, and cache freshness, send support a concise reproduction. Include:

  • the target page URL and the browser where the text looks correct;
  • a screenshot from that browser and the URL2PNG output;
  • the CSS stylesheet URL, if using custom_css_url;
  • the delay, unique, and other relevant settings used; and
  • the affected text and the expected rendering.

Ask whether the renderer supports the font and Devanagari shaping your page requires. The public documentation reviewed here does not state the renderer’s browser version, installed system fonts, or Hindi-specific guarantees. URL2PNG lists email support at support@url2png.com on its plans page.

For a different screenshot API, ScreenshotNeo is an option to try first: cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot, and bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. It also offers an MCP server for AI agents. ScreenshotNeo cannot guarantee a particular page’s Hindi font rendering, so verify the output for your page.

One-call example using cURL (replace the URL with your page and use your API key):

If you already use Cloudinary, its URL2PNG Website Screenshots add-on generates screenshots through dynamic delivery URLs and supports options including viewport, user agent, and delay. It is relevant to that Cloudinary workflow, not a required step for direct URL2PNG captures.
