To create a gaming montage in Cross Clip, first make at least two clips, then open My Clips, select the clips to combine, and choose Create Montage. Streamlabs’ guide says Free montages can include up to three clips and Pro montages up to six; check Cross Clip for current plan limits before you start.

What you need before making a Cross Clip montage

  • At least two clips already created in Cross Clip. Montage assembly is a separate step from editing each individual clip.
  • A Twitch or Kick clip URL, or a video file you can upload from your device, for each clip you want to prepare. Streamlabs also describes using a downloaded video file, but import availability depends on the source and current product support.
  • Enough upload allowance for your source files. The Cross Clip plans page lists 100MB uploads on Free and 1GB on Pro; confirm the current limit in the product.

Cross Clip’s iOS version history says direct YouTube video downloading was removed in version 2.6.0 on September 17, 2024, following YouTube API changes. Use a source file or import route you are authorized to use rather than assuming Cross Clip can download a YouTube video.

How to make and edit clips in Cross Clip

  1. Import your footage. Paste a supported Twitch or Kick clip URL, or upload a video file from your device. Cross Clip’s documented workflow also allows editing an already available source file.
  2. Choose the output format. Pick a canvas suited to where you plan to post the clip. The editor supports platform-oriented formats; choose one before arranging the picture so you can see how much of the gameplay and camera will fit.
  3. Frame the gameplay and camera. Drag and resize the content and camera boxes. Keep the key action visible, and reposition the face camera if it covers important gameplay. Check the framing in the selected canvas, not just in the source video.
  4. Set the segment length. Adjust the timeline slider to select the portion of footage to use. Preview the chosen segment to make sure the action starts and ends where you intend.
  5. Adjust the layout and layers. Add or arrange layers if needed. Streamlabs says background blur is available when the content regions do not fill the output canvas. Hide the editor borders in the preview to inspect the finished composition without editing guides.
  6. Create each clip. Finish and save the individual clips first. You need at least two created clips before the montage option applies.

How to combine clips into a Cross Clip montage

  1. Open My Clips in Cross Clip.
  2. Select the clips you want to include in the montage.
  3. Choose Create Montage.
  4. Choose the available frame rate and output quality, then start compilation. Streamlabs’ guide describes these choices at compilation. Available settings can depend on your plan, so verify the current options shown in Cross Clip.
  5. When compilation is complete, use the emailed download link described in Streamlabs’ guide, or find the completed clip in the mobile app to download or share it.

Streamlabs’ guide, last updated October 8, 2025, lists a maximum of three clips per montage on Free and six on Pro. Its plans page describes Pro exports at 1080p/60fps; the mobile app listing describes 720p or 1080p options. Because the listings describe different contexts and plan details can change, rely on the options and entitlements displayed in your account at the time you compile.

Those plan limits and prices are product listings, not a guarantee that every account or region sees the same options. Confirm the current terms before paying, particularly if you need a specific montage length or export setting.

Troubleshooting Cross Clip montages

Create Montage is unavailable

Check that you have created at least two clips and that you are selecting them in My Clips. The documented montage workflow starts from existing clips, not from the source-footage editor.

A source video will not import

Try a supported Twitch or Kick clip URL or an eligible video file from your device. Direct YouTube downloading was removed from the iOS app in version 2.6.0 on September 17, 2024, so do not rely on that route. Also check the upload-size allowance for your plan.

Review your plan’s current limits in Cross Clip. The guide lists three clips on Free and six on Pro, while resolution and frame-rate options are plan-dependent. The app’s compilation screen is the practical place to confirm what your account can export.

The layout cuts off gameplay or the camera

Return to the individual clip editor, reposition or resize the content and camera boxes for the selected canvas, then preview with editor borders hidden. If the picture does not fill the canvas, the guide says a blurred background is available.
