Choose a format that fits your channel
Start with an activity that feels natural for your usual content. A holiday theme can add a fresh frame without asking your audience to learn an entirely new kind of show. Twitch’s Holiday Hoopla campaigns included wreath crafting and tree decorating in 2024, then cookie decorating, snowman building, and present wrapping in 2025. Streamlabs also suggests themed games, gift advice, bingo, trivia, and watch parties. These are examples to adapt, not formats with guaranteed audience results.

Add a festive look without hiding the show

Prepare the show before you go live

- Set the participation plan. Write down your opening prompt, poll choices, trivia questions, or giveaway rules. Tell viewers when and how they can take part.
- Build and check the scene. Add your holiday background, overlays, alerts, and countdown if you use one. Confirm they do not cover important content.
- Test the physical setup. Charge devices and check camera, audio, lighting, and streaming software before the scheduled start.
- Update and stage. Update the game and streaming software, then put ingredients, craft materials, props, or gifts within reach.
- Plan moderation. Assign a moderator or configure filters for viewer submissions and giveaway participation.

Use past platform events as inspiration, not a current promise

Check the platform’s current announcements and your account for present-day features or eligibility.

Keep expectations realistic
There is no established evidence that one holiday livestream format reliably increases audience size, retention, or revenue. Choose the idea that suits your viewers and that you can execute comfortably; treat participation and performance as outcomes to observe, not promises to make.
