How much do YouTubers make? There is no standard amount per view, subscriber, or month. Views alone do not determine income: earnings depend on which monetization features a channel can use, eligible viewer activity, and revenue from sources beyond ads. YouTube does not guarantee that a creator will be paid or promise a particular amount.
How YouTube earnings work
YouTube creators can receive a share of certain platform revenue and earn through features that let viewers pay or shop. The applicable share is calculated from a defined revenue pool; it is not a fixed dollar amount for each view. A channel’s actual earnings depend on eligible monetized activity and the features available to it.
That is why subscriber counts or total views alone cannot tell you what a creator makes. Two channels with similar view totals may have different eligible formats, viewer behavior, feature access, and other income sources.
Ways to earn from a YouTube channel
| Revenue route | How it works | YouTube’s documented share or basis |
|---|---|---|
| Watch-page ads | Eligible creators can enable ads on qualifying long-form videos and live streams. | 55% of net watch-page ad revenue under the Watch Page Monetization Module; this is not a per-view rate. |
| Shorts Feed ads | Shorts ad revenue is pooled and allocated according to views. | 45% of the revenue allocated to the creator from the Shorts Creator Pool; it is not a fixed payment for each view or thousand views. |
| YouTube Premium | Eligible creators may receive revenue associated with Premium subscribers watching their content. | Depends on eligible Premium viewing; YouTube does not state a universal amount per view. |
| Channel memberships | Viewers pay recurring monthly fees for creator-defined perks. | 70% of net revenue under the Commerce Product Module, subject to its terms. |
| Super Chat and Super Stickers | During eligible live streams and Premieres, viewers can pay to highlight chat messages or use animated stickers. | 70% of net revenue under the Commerce Product Module for the named fan-funding features. |
| Super Thanks | Viewers can pay to highlight support on eligible videos. | 70% of net revenue under the Commerce Product Module for the named fan-funding features. |
| YouTube Shopping | Eligible creators may feature their own merchandise or tag products from other brands through the affiliate program. | Access and terms vary; YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a universal commission rate. |
Eligibility, location, and feature-specific terms affect which routes are available. The percentages are shares of the revenue specified by YouTube, not a direct comparison of take-home dollars across formats.

YouTube Partner Program eligibility
As of October 3, 2026, YouTube’s published guidance distinguishes an expanded YPP entry level from the higher threshold for ad and Premium revenue. Meeting a threshold does not automatically qualify a channel: YouTube reviews applications for policy compliance, and additional requirements or regional limits can apply.
| Level | Published requirements | What it provides |
|---|---|---|
| Expanded YPP entry | 500 subscribers, at least three valid public uploads in the preceding 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the preceding 12 months or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. | Access to eligible early fan-funding and Shopping features; availability varies by feature and region. |
| Ad and Premium revenue eligibility | 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the preceding 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. | Eligibility to apply for watch-page ads, Shorts Feed ads, and YouTube Premium revenue, subject to review and applicable terms. |
These are YouTube’s published thresholds at the date above, not a guarantee of acceptance or earnings. Channel monetization policies, advertiser suitability, and feature-specific conditions still matter. YouTube can remove monetization for policy violations or extended inactivity. It has also announced changes scheduled to begin February 1, 2027, including higher ad and Premium entry thresholds for new creators. Check YouTube’s current eligibility guidance if applying after that date.
Estimated revenue, finalized earnings, and payment
YouTube Analytics shows estimated revenue, which can differ from finalized AdSense for YouTube earnings. YouTube generally adds the previous month’s finalized earnings to the AdSense for YouTube balance between the 7th and 12th of the following month. Payment is generally issued between the 21st and 26th if the account meets the local payment threshold and other account requirements. These dates describe YouTube’s usual schedule, not a guarantee that every account will be paid on those exact days.
What these numbers cannot tell you
YouTube’s revenue shares explain how certain income is allocated; they do not provide enough information to calculate a particular creator’s earnings. The amount depends on the channel’s eligible activity and revenue, so avoid treating any universal per-view or per-thousand-view figure as a YouTube promise.
Creator compensation is also uneven across the wider industry. CreatorIQ reported that the top 10% of creators received 62% of creator payments in 2025. That is an industry-wide statistic, not a YouTube-specific distribution or a typical income estimate for an individual channel.
