To stream a live show to your guests’ social media audiences, use a live-production service that lets guests connect or pair their own channels—not merely join you on camera. StreamYard’s Guest Destinations and Restream’s Pairs support guest-channel distribution; YouTube’s Go live together is a simpler native option, but shows one guest at a time. Confirm current plan rules and destination compatibility before scheduling.
Guest appearances and guest-channel streaming are different
A guest appearing in your studio does not automatically send the broadcast to that person’s social accounts. You need a service feature that lets guests add or pair their destinations, in addition to the ordinary guest invitation. StreamYard calls its feature Guest Destinations; Restream calls its feature Pairs.
These options distribute the host’s live show to connected destinations. They are different from asking a guest to separately start their own broadcast, and different from inviting a guest to appear on screen.
Choose the method that fits your show
| Option | Guest-channel distribution | Access and limits documented by the provider | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| StreamYard Guest Destinations | Guests can add their own channels to the host’s live broadcast. | The host needs a paid plan; guests must log in to a StreamYard account to add destinations. The host’s active plan determines the available content and multistream destination allowance. Its help page lists 3 destinations on Core, 8 on Advanced, and 10 on Business; check current plan details. | Shows where guests should connect their channels to a host-produced broadcast. |
| Restream Pairs | Guests can rebroadcast the host’s Studio stream to paired channels. Pairing a channel is separate from appearing on camera. | The host needs a paid plan. Guests can pair up to 3 channels for free; their own plan may allow more. The host instructions state up to 20 invitees and 100 paired channels per stream. | Shows where guests need to share the host’s stream on their own accounts, including guests who will not appear on screen. |
| YouTube Go live together | Supports a guest appearance within YouTube; it is not the same as connecting a guest’s destinations to a multistream studio. | The cited YouTube Help page says the invitee needs a YouTube channel and only one guest can appear on the live stream at a time. The host remains responsible for content compliance. | A YouTube-native conversation with one on-screen guest at a time. |
Features, plan names, counts, and platform requirements can change. Check the provider’s current help page and the destination’s live-streaming requirements before relying on a limit.

Set up a guest-channel broadcast
- List the destinations. Write down the host channels that should carry the show, then ask each guest which of their channels they want included. Check account type, orientation, and live eligibility for each destination.
- Choose a studio with the required guest feature. Confirm that it supports both the host’s destinations and guest channel sharing. StreamYard documents its Guest Destinations feature at Guest Destinations; its plan and destination details are described in the guest setup and destination-limit help pages. Restream explains Pairs in its Pairs help page and its setup instructions.
- Connect the host’s destinations. In the selected studio, add the host’s channels and check they are available for this broadcast. Follow the provider’s current interface labels; do not assume a channel is connected simply because the host has previously streamed there.
- Enable guest destinations or pairing, then invite guests. Use the studio’s guest-sharing settings where required and send each guest the invitation link. For StreamYard Guest Destinations, guests need to sign in to a StreamYard account to add destinations. With Restream Pairs, follow the host’s pairing instructions and applicable plan requirements.
- Have guests connect channels and verify them. Ask each guest to finish the authorization or pairing process and confirm that the intended channel appears as an active destination. In Restream, pairing a channel does not require the guest to appear on camera; that is a separate choice.
- Test the studio and framing. Have guests check microphone and speaker selection, camera permissions, and their internet connection. Review portrait or landscape framing for each destination, since platform support and formatting can differ. Do a private or otherwise low-risk test if your workflow allows it.
- Start the show and monitor destinations. Confirm the destinations shown by the service before going live, then monitor the studio for connection or destination errors during the broadcast. A guest joining successfully does not by itself confirm that their channel is receiving the stream.
Check destination compatibility before inviting guests
One service’s general multistream support does not guarantee that every destination accepts every account or video format. StreamYard’s destination matrix lists native support for Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Twitch, and Kick, as well as custom RTMP. Its matrix notes that Instagram requires a professional account and is portrait-only in the table; TikTok is portrait-oriented. Verify current eligibility and live requirements directly with the destination and your production service, especially if the show needs a specific orientation.
Prepare guests so the live show starts cleanly
- Send the invitation link and a short arrival time in advance, along with instructions to use a supported browser or device according to the service’s current guidance.
- Ask guests to grant camera and microphone permissions before the show and select the intended microphone and speakers in the studio.
- Check for echo by avoiding simultaneous nearby speakers and microphones; headphones can help, but the cited onboarding guidance does not require a particular microphone model.
- Confirm the guest’s channel is paired or added as a destination, not just that the guest is visible in the studio.
- Agree who will start the broadcast and who will watch the studio’s destination status while the host is speaking.
When YouTube Go live together is enough
If the goal is simply to bring a guest into a YouTube live conversation, YouTube’s Go live together can avoid setting up third-party guest-channel sharing. The cited YouTube Help page says the host can rotate guests but only one guest appears on the live stream at a time; the invitee needs a YouTube channel. The host remains responsible for ensuring the content follows YouTube policies. Use a studio with guest destinations or pairing instead when the requirement is to distribute the host’s show to guests’ separate social channels.

Troubleshooting guest-channel streaming
- The guest is on screen, but their channel is not receiving the show: On-camera participation is separate from distribution. Have the guest complete Guest Destinations or Pairs setup and confirm the destination is active.
- The guest cannot add a destination: Check whether the host’s plan includes the feature, whether the guest has signed in to the required account, and whether the destination’s account meets its live requirements.
- The destination is missing or unavailable: Confirm the destination is supported for the relevant account and format, then recheck the service’s current integrations and plan limit. Use custom RTMP only if both the service and destination workflow support the setup you need.
- Audio is silent or echoing: Recheck microphone and speaker selections, browser permissions, mute state, and nearby open speakers. Ask the guest to leave and rejoin if the device has not picked up the corrected settings.
- The video is framed incorrectly: Check the destination’s orientation requirements and the studio’s layout before going live. Instagram and TikTok have portrait-related constraints noted in StreamYard’s destination information; verify the current rules for the specific account.
- A guest can pair a channel but cannot appear: Pairing and joining the on-screen conversation are distinct actions. Send the studio invitation separately if the guest should also be on camera.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is for a different job: keeping an uploaded video or playlist looping as a 24/7 YouTube live stream. It does not bring guests on camera or send a live show to guests’ social channels, so it is not a replacement for Guest Destinations or Pairs. For a continuous YouTube channel stream, upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; StreamNeo streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
