After your updated Open Graph tags are live, enter the page URL in LinkedIn’s Post Inspector and check the preview. LinkedIn advises allowing up to 48 hours for tag changes to take effect. The refresh affects new posts using the URL; it does not change previews on posts already published.
Refresh the preview in LinkedIn Post Inspector
- Publish the metadata update. Make sure the corrected tags are live on the page at the URL you intend to share. LinkedIn says its share box uses oEmbed and/or Open Graph data to display a page’s title, description, and image. See LinkedIn’s URL-sharing troubleshooting guidance.
- Check the page’s metadata. Confirm the source includes the relevant Open Graph fields:
og:title,og:image,og:description, andog:url. These are the fields listed in LinkedIn’s website-sharing guidance. - Inspect the URL. Open Post Inspector, enter the page URL, and review the preview window. Confirm the title, description, and image are the corrected ones.
- If it is still stale, wait and check again. LinkedIn advises allowing up to 48 hours after updating tags for changes to take effect. Its guidance does not promise instant propagation or specify one universal cache lifetime.
- Test with a new post. Use the inspected URL when creating a new post to verify the refreshed preview.
What the refresh changes—and what it does not
Post Inspector is LinkedIn’s documented way to inspect and refresh a URL preview. The change applies to new posts that include the URL. LinkedIn states that existing posts retain their original preview; refreshing the URL does not rewrite previews on posts already published.
If LinkedIn still shows the wrong preview
- The tags may not be live at the shared URL. Recheck the page source at the exact URL you entered, including the four Open Graph fields LinkedIn lists.
- LinkedIn may not find Open Graph or oEmbed data. LinkedIn says that when its share box cannot find this data, it may not pull the expected content or may show other site content. Check the metadata, then inspect the URL again in Post Inspector.
- You may be checking an old post. A refreshed preview is for new posts; an already-published post keeps its existing preview.
- The update may not have propagated yet. Allow the up-to-48-hour interval LinkedIn advises after changing tags, then inspect again. The guidance does not establish a precise universal cache duration.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server, not a LinkedIn preview inspector. It can capture a page directly with one request; it cannot refresh LinkedIn’s cached preview. For developers who also need page screenshots, it removes cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; and its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
Learn about ScreenshotNeo. For a screenshot, use this cURL request (replace the target URL as needed); see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
