For a true 24/7 prerecorded YouTube livestream, choose software that continuously loops content from the cloud. StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs an always-on YouTube stream from uploaded videos, with any uploaded quality up to 4K at 60 fps for one flat price per slot and a free first day. YouTube’s encoder guide also lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. A local encoder such as OBS can work, but your computer and internet connection must stay available. StreamYard is for scheduled prerecorded events, not a documented single stream that loops around the clock.

Choose software for the job you actually need

“Prerecorded livestream” can mean either a continuous loop or a one-time scheduled broadcast. Those are different workflows: a service that schedules a finite video is not necessarily able to run a playlist indefinitely. Decide whether you need continuous playback, a scheduled event, or a locally encoded stream before comparing features.

Option Best fit Who keeps it running? Key qualification
StreamNeo Continuous looping of uploaded videos to YouTube Cloud service One stream per slot; 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across active slots
Gyre Cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded streaming Cloud service YouTube lists it in its encoder guide; confirm current loop controls and terms with the provider
OBS or another local encoder DIY streaming when you can maintain the machine and network You, on your computer Requires an always-available computer, media source, and internet connection
StreamYard A finite prerecorded broadcast scheduled for a chosen time StreamYard handles the scheduled start, subject to plan limits Its documented maximum prerecorded-video length ranges from two to eight hours by plan, not 24/7 looping

YouTube describes encoders as software running on a computer or hardware encoders, and its encoder guide includes Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded videos. Inclusion in that directory is not a guarantee of uninterrupted service. YouTube’s encoder guide

Best options for continuous 24/7 playback

1. StreamNeo: cloud looping without an always-on home computer

StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded recordings or a playlist. Upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and start the stream; the service loops the content in the cloud. Your computer can be off, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera feed, and it streams to YouTube only.

2. Gyre: another cloud-based 24/7 option

YouTube’s encoder guide identifies Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. That makes it relevant when you want cloud playback rather than maintaining an encoder at home. YouTube’s listing confirms category fit, not service uptime or a particular plan’s capabilities. Before subscribing, verify the provider’s current maximum stream duration, playlist and loop controls, supported file formats, interruption recovery, status monitoring, and terms. Current Gyre plan limits and pricing are not established here.

When a scheduled prerecorded broadcast is enough

StreamYard

StreamYard lets you select a prerecorded video, schedule the broadcast, and have it go live at the chosen time even if you are not online to start it. YouTube is a supported destination. Its documented maximum source-video length is two hours on Core, four hours on Advanced, and eight hours on Team and StreamYard Business. It also documents plan-based limits on concurrent scheduled streams and scheduling up to 365 days in advance. These duration limits make it suitable for finite events, not evidence of an indefinite 24/7 loop.

DIY alternative: run a local encoder

A local encoder sends a computer-generated stream to YouTube. It gives you direct control over the encoder and playback setup, but does not outsource uptime: the computer, source media, network, and power must remain available for the duration. YouTube’s general encoder setup uses a stream URL and stream key, which you enter in the encoder. Exact menus depend on the encoder and its version; use its current documentation for the interface labels.

  1. Enable livestreaming on your YouTube channel. In YouTube Studio, create or open a live stream and locate its stream settings. Channel eligibility or activation can affect whether livestreaming is immediately available; follow any prompt shown in Studio.
  2. Copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password. Do not post it, include it in a screen recording, or share it with someone who should not be able to broadcast on your channel.
  3. Configure the encoder. Select the stream service or custom YouTube ingest option, enter the server URL and key, and set the video source to the prerecorded file or playlist. For a continuous stream, configure repeat or playlist playback in the encoder or media source; verify that it actually returns to the beginning rather than ending after one pass.
  4. Match output to your source and connection. Choose a resolution and frame rate the source and upload bandwidth can sustain. Use the encoder’s YouTube-recommended settings for the selected resolution, frame rate, and codec; do not assume that increasing bitrate improves a source that was encoded at lower quality. Check that the keyframe interval, codec, and audio format meet YouTube’s current ingest requirements before going live.
  5. Start the encoder, then verify the live preview. Confirm that YouTube receives video and audio, the correct stream appears on the intended channel, and playback loops as expected. Monitor both the encoder and YouTube Studio for dropped frames, disconnects, or processing warnings.
  6. Keep the setup running and recover manually if needed. Prevent computer sleep, keep the network connection stable, and make sure the media remains accessible. If the encoder or connection stops, restore it and confirm in YouTube Studio that the broadcast has resumed. A local setup leaves power, connectivity, and recovery responsibility with you.

For current encoder configuration and YouTube’s stream URL/key workflow, use YouTube’s encoder setup guide. Its recommended technical settings may change, so consult the live documentation rather than relying on a copied bitrate value.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60 fps at one price per slot; and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, once per account. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.

Protect the stream, the replay, and monetization eligibility

Copyright and broadcast rights

You remain responsible for having the necessary rights to every element in a livestream, including music. Check that your license covers live broadcasting and any replay or archive, not just offline use. YouTube’s live-stream terms put that responsibility on the content provider. YouTube Terms of Service

Reused and repetitive content

Streaming an existing video repeatedly does not make it original. YouTube’s monetization guidance says monetized content should be original and authentic, and warns that repetitive or mass-produced material may be treated as “inauthentic.” Reused material without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value can also create monetization problems. These are channel-level policy considerations, not a prediction that every continuous loop will be rejected. A stream should give viewers meaningful value, and the software cannot resolve copyright or reused-content issues. YouTube channel monetization policies

Long-stream archives and DVR

YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. It also warns that DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. A live broadcast can therefore keep going while the full replay is missing or viewers cannot rewind as expected. If the recording matters, keep a separate local backup or divide the programming into shorter broadcasts. YouTube live streaming troubleshooting and archive guidance

What to check before choosing

  • Playback: Confirm whether the product loops indefinitely, sequences a playlist, or schedules one finite video.
  • Uptime responsibility: Establish whether the provider runs playback in the cloud or you must keep a computer and connection online.
  • Recovery and visibility: Check what happens after an ingest interruption and how you can inspect stream status or replace media.
  • Duration and scheduling: Compare source-video limits, concurrent schedule limits, and how far ahead events can be scheduled.
  • Archive needs: Plan a separate recording or shorter streams if a complete replay and rewind matter.
  • Rights and originality: Confirm broadcast and replay permissions and ensure the channel’s content offers original or meaningfully transformed value.
  • Total cost: Compare the actual plan and billing term for your workload, along with any hardware, electricity, storage, and internet costs for a local setup. Verify volatile prices and terms at checkout.
