Yes. You can livestream a Zoom Webinar to YouTube if webinar livestreaming is enabled for the Zoom account, the host has a Webinars license, and the YouTube channel is eligible to go live. Set up either Zoom’s YouTube destination or a custom stream, then start the broadcast from the webinar host controls and verify the YouTube preview before directing attendees there.
Before you start
Zoom and YouTube have separate requirements. Check both before scheduling the event so you can resolve account access or channel eligibility issues in advance.
- Zoom: The host needs a Zoom Webinars license. An account owner or admin may need to allow webinar livestreaming and enable YouTube as an approved service. Zoom identifies Pro, Business, or Enterprise accounts for changing this account setting. Zoom’s webinar livestreaming instructions describe the setting and permissions.
- YouTube: The channel must be verified and must not have a live-stream restriction from the past 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. Check eligibility well before the webinar. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements explain channel readiness.
- Event details: Create or schedule the live event in YouTube Studio, set its privacy, and have the event URL and stream key available if you plan to use Zoom’s custom-stream option.
A YouTube stream key is sensitive: it lets an encoder send a feed to the correct live event and should be treated like a password. Do not put it in public instructions or share it with attendees. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s stream settings help page explains stream keys.
Enable YouTube livestreaming in Zoom
- Ask the Zoom account owner or admin to open Account Management → Account Settings → Webinar.
- Turn on Allow livestreaming, then allow YouTube among the available services.
- If the setting is locked, the account owner or admin must change the account-level policy.
- Confirm that the webinar host has a Webinars license. If YouTube is missing from the host’s destination choices, check these permissions and licensing requirements before investigating video quality.
Zoom’s labels can change, so use the current Webinar settings rather than relying on an old screenshot or click sequence.

Choose a Zoom-to-YouTube route
Zoom documents two ways to connect a webinar to YouTube. Use the direct platform option when the account allows it; use the custom route when you need to enter YouTube’s stream details yourself.
| Decision | Zoom’s YouTube destination | Custom Live Streaming Service |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | An admin enables webinar livestreaming and permits YouTube; the host selects the configured destination. | The organizer enters the stream URL, stream key, and live streaming page URL in the scheduled webinar’s Live Streaming tab. |
| Credentials | Follow Zoom’s platform setup; do not publish or expose stream credentials. | Copy the stream URL and key accurately and keep them private. |
| When it fits | A straightforward Zoom-to-YouTube setup where account policy permits the destination. | A custom destination that supplies stream credentials or when using Zoom’s custom streaming workflow. |
| Resolution controls | Available controls depend on the current Zoom configuration; check the actual preview and output. | Zoom’s documented custom workflow offers 720p Standard HD and 1080p Full HD options. Availability and delivered quality can depend on the configuration and connection. |
For the custom workflow, Zoom allows the organizer to save the setup ahead of time so the host can start it after the webinar begins. See Zoom’s instructions for livestreaming webinars for the current setup details.

Configure and start the broadcast
Option A: Select YouTube as the destination
- Open the webinar’s livestream configuration and choose the enabled YouTube destination.
- Complete the destination setup requested by Zoom. Confirm that the correct YouTube event and privacy setting are selected.
- Start the webinar as host.
- From the host controls, start livestreaming and select the configured YouTube destination.
- Check the YouTube Live Control Room preview and watch page. Direct attendees to the YouTube page only after you can confirm that the stream is visible and the audio is working.
Option B: Enter custom stream details
- In the scheduled webinar, open the Live Streaming tab and choose Custom Live Streaming Service.
- Enter the YouTube stream URL, stream key, and live streaming page URL. Copy them from the intended YouTube event; do not share the key publicly.
- Choose a resolution if the custom workflow offers the setting. Zoom’s documented choices are 720p Standard HD and 1080p Full HD; selecting 1080p does not guarantee that every account, network, or event will deliver 1080p.
- Save the configuration. It can be prepared before the event.
- Start the webinar as host. Use the host’s Livestream control and choose Live on Custom Live Streaming Service. If preconfigured, Zoom opens a browser window while it prepares the stream.
- Verify the YouTube preview and watch page before announcing the stream to attendees.
Zoom’s instructions for the custom workflow are on its webinar livestreaming help page.
Test the stream before attendees arrive
Schedule time for a preflight check rather than treating the first minutes of the webinar as a test. YouTube recommends setting up early, checking the Live Control Room preview, testing audio and representative movement, and monitoring stream health during the event. YouTube’s live encoder guidance recommends roughly 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the stream’s total bitrate.

- Test a representative slide change, video clip, or other motion expected in the webinar.
- Confirm the watch page is accessible to the intended audience before sharing it.
- Monitor the YouTube stream-health indicators and the audio/video during the broadcast.
The bitrate figures in YouTube’s encoder guidance are for encoder streams, not required settings for Zoom’s native YouTube destination. For a separate encoder sending H.264 at 1080p and 30 fps, YouTube’s 2026 help guidance recommends 14 Mbps; the page does not display a publication date. Do not treat that figure as a Zoom requirement. YouTube’s encoder recommendations include RTMPS, H.264, and constant bitrate settings; apply those to an encoder workflow, not automatically to Zoom’s native route. See YouTube’s current encoding recommendations.
Common problems and fixes
- YouTube is not offered in Zoom: Ask the account owner or admin to enable Allow livestreaming and permit YouTube under Account Management → Account Settings → Webinar. Confirm the host has a Webinars license and that the account’s setting is not locked.
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: Check channel verification and live-stream restrictions. If live streaming is being activated for the first time, allow up to 24 hours.
- The custom stream does not connect: Check that the stream URL, stream key, and live streaming page URL belong to the intended YouTube event and were copied without errors. Keep the key private; reset it if it may have been exposed.
- The stream is not visible to attendees: Check the event’s YouTube privacy setting and verify the watch page in a separate browser or account before distributing the link.
- Video or audio quality is poor: Check the YouTube preview and stream-health indicators, test audio and motion, and ensure the outgoing bitrate fits the available upload capacity with about 20% headroom. If using an external encoder, follow YouTube’s encoder recommendations rather than assuming Zoom uses those settings.
- The audience is sent to YouTube too early: Wait for the preview and watch page to show a working broadcast before asking attendees to switch over.
Optional audio improvement
A USB microphone may improve spoken audio, but it is not required to enable Zoom’s YouTube livestream. YouTube lists microphones among common external audio equipment for encoder setups; the Zoom destination workflow itself is configured in software. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes common equipment.
