Choose the output first: a full-page screenshot is one tall image of the webpage; printing to PDF creates a document that may be split across pages and may look different from the browser view. Use a screenshot for a visual record, or print to PDF for a document to read, share, or print.

Save a full-page screenshot as an image
Firefox
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Take Screenshot. Alternatively, press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page, not Save visible.
- Choose Download to save the PNG image, or Copy to paste it into another app. Mozilla Support explains Firefox screenshots.
Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage in Edge.
- Open Screenshot from the right-click menu or press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page, review the capture, then save it or copy it.
Microsoft describes the feature this way: “Capture a full page or a selected area—including long or moving webpages—then add comments or markup using pen or touch before copying or saving your screenshot.” Availability can vary by device, market, and browser version. If Screenshot is missing, use print-to-PDF for a document copy. Microsoft Edge Screenshot Tool.
Firefox Developer Tools (optional)
For a command-based capture, Firefox documents :screenshot --fullpage in the Web Console. Options include --delay, --dpr, --filename, and --selector. If you reuse a filename, an existing file may be overwritten; choose a different filename for each capture you want to keep. Firefox Source Docs: Taking screenshots.
Print a webpage to PDF
Chrome
- Open the webpage and press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print window, choose a PDF destination if one is available. Chrome documents Save as PDF as a destination in its instructions for saving a PDF to upload to Drive.
- Review the preview and print settings, then save the PDF.

Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage and press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS.
- Select a PDF destination if it appears in the print dialog.
- Check the preview. Adjust paper size, orientation, margins, scale, headers and footers, or background graphics as needed.
- Save the PDF and open it to confirm the result.
Print-to-PDF is page-oriented; do not assume it will create one long page. Edge’s preview is useful because print layout can differ from the webpage. Microsoft Support: Print in Microsoft Edge.

- The screenshot only shows the visible screen: In Firefox, select Save full page, not Save visible. In Edge, choose Capture full page.
- The PDF differs from the webpage: Check the print preview and adjust scale, margins, paper size, or orientation. In Edge, try enabling Background graphics if page colors or images are missing.
- Edge has no Screenshot option: Feature availability varies by device, market, and browser version. Use the print workflow for a PDF, or consult current browser-specific help.
- A later Firefox capture replaced an earlier file: Change the
--filenamevalue when using:screenshotagain. - You need a tall image but only have print-to-PDF: Print output is laid out for pages; use Firefox’s full-page screenshot or Edge’s Capture full page for a single tall image.

Does printing a webpage to PDF save it as one long page?
Not necessarily. Print-to-PDF uses page-oriented settings such as paper size and margins, so the result may span multiple pages.

Can I save a full-page screenshot as a PDF directly in Firefox or Edge?
The documented full-page screenshot workflows save or copy an image. To make a PDF, use the browser’s print dialog and choose a PDF destination.
