Test upload speed, latency, and packet loss on the network you will stream from; then stabilize the local connection, reduce stream load if needed, and check browser, device, and YouTube account settings. StreamYard’s guidance is general: it does not establish a separate India-specific cause or identify a responsible Indian ISP.
1. Check the connection used for the broadcast
Run a connection test on the same network and, as closely as possible, the same time of day you plan to go live. StreamYard recommends at least 5 Mbps upload, with 7 Mbps or higher preferred. Its Help Center also says latency above 100 ms may affect real-time streaming and recommends packet loss no greater than 2%. These are StreamYard troubleshooting recommendations, not guarantees that a stream will remain connected. StreamYard: How Do I Test My Internet Speed?
A strong speed-test result does not rule out trouble. StreamYard notes that bandwidth fluctuations and packet loss can cause instability even when internet speeds appear high. Test more than once if results vary, and note the upload speed, latency, and packet loss rather than relying on one download-speed number.
2. Stabilize your local network
- Use Ethernet if possible. Connect the streaming computer directly to the router. A cable can remove Wi-Fi variability within the home, but cannot fix an outage or a problem farther upstream.
- If you must use Wi-Fi, improve the link. StreamYard recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi, staying near the access point, and keeping a clear line of sight where feasible.
- Pause competing traffic. Stop large uploads and downloads, cloud backups, automatic updates, other video streams, gaming, and other network-heavy activity while broadcasting.
- Restart the router before the stream. When network quality is poor, StreamYard suggests rebooting it 10–15 minutes before going live so it has time to reconnect.
Make one change at a time where possible. That helps identify whether the issue is the Wi-Fi link, competing traffic, or something else.

3. Lower the stream load when the connection degrades
If connection readings are weak or the broadcast starts to deteriorate, reduce StreamYard’s outgoing camera resolution to 720p or 480p. Lower resolution can reduce the amount of data your connection must carry, but it cannot repair an unstable ISP connection or an upstream routing problem.
StreamYard’s published settings are 4500 kbps video at 1080p and 3000 kbps video at 720p, with a 2-second keyframe interval and 128 kbps audio. 4. Rule out browser, computer, and security issues
- Refresh the StreamYard page and confirm that other sites load normally.
- Close unused tabs and applications, then fully restart the browser. If the problem persists, restart the computer.
- Try a private or incognito window, or test with another supported browser. A different browser can help isolate a cache, cookie, or extension issue.
- Temporarily check whether a VPN, proxy, firewall, or browser extension is interfering with the connection. Do not leave security protections disabled as a permanent fix; restore them after the test and adjust only the relevant setting if identified.
- If available, test a different device or network and compare the result.
StreamYard’s troubleshooting guidance for generic errors also recommends checking internet access, testing network speed, closing extra apps and tabs, restarting equipment, and disabling extensions that may affect the page. StreamYard: I’m Having Trouble Connecting to YouTube
5. Check whether a guest or another network is the weak link
For a multi-person broadcast, each participant’s feed depends on that participant’s own internet connection. If only one guest’s audio or video drops, ask them to test their connection and try the same stability steps on their side. You can also compare the original setup with a different network or device.

To avoid disrupting a public broadcast while testing, StreamYard supports testing with a private or unlisted YouTube stream. Compare one variable at a time: Ethernet versus Wi-Fi, full versus reduced resolution, original versus alternate browser or device, and original versus alternate network.
6. Separate YouTube account errors from network drops
If the error specifically says StreamYard is having trouble connecting to your YouTube account, treat it as an authorization issue rather than assuming the network is disconnecting. Reconnect the YouTube account in StreamYard and verify that you granted the Google permission needed to manage the YouTube account. If YouTube says livestreaming is unavailable, check YouTube Studio for channel restrictions or policy-related issues; that is different from a StreamYard connection drop. 7. If the stream still disconnects
If it remains unstable after checking the connection, local network, resolution, browser, device, and account authorization, contact your internet service provider and ask them to investigate connection stability, packet loss, or intermittent routing problems. Keep your test results and note when the drops occur; they can help narrow down whether the issue is local or upstream.
