StreamYard can schedule a devotional music video to play once on YouTube, but its documented pre-recorded broadcasts are finite—not a complete 24/7 looping solution. StreamYard’s help documentation lists a maximum video length of two hours on Core, four on Advanced, and eight on Teams and Business; the broadcast starts at its scheduled time and ends when the video finishes. To keep a channel live continuously, you need a separate continuous-playout method and must verify how it connects to the YouTube event. If you want uploaded videos to loop from the cloud rather than run a computer at home, StreamNeo is an alternative described below.
What StreamYard can—and cannot—do for a 24/7 stream
StreamYard is suitable for scheduling a finite pre-recorded devotional program to YouTube. Its documented workflow plays the selected video once and ends the broadcast when playback finishes. The published maximum length depends on the plan:
| StreamYard plan | Maximum pre-recorded video length |
|---|---|
| Core | Up to 2 hours |
| Advanced | Up to 4 hours |
| Teams | Up to 8 hours |
| Business | Up to 8 hours |
These are limits for an individual pre-recorded video, not an assurance that a scheduled broadcast will repeat, chain into the next video, or remain one uninterrupted YouTube live event. The available documentation does not establish a built-in StreamYard playlist loop or seamless handoff for 24/7 playback. Confirm current plan limits before preparing a program.
StreamYard separately says paid plans have no streaming-hour limit on its end. That statement does not remove the per-video maximum for pre-recorded broadcasts. Nor does it settle YouTube archive behavior: StreamYard says only the last 12 hours are recorded on YouTube in its destination guidance, while YouTube’s encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Stream duration, a YouTube archive, and a StreamYard recording are different things; verify the expected archive and DVR behavior for your exact setup.

Prepare the devotional music and YouTube channel
Clear the rights to every track and recording
Before scheduling, confirm you have the rights needed to stream each composition and sound recording. A song’s devotional, traditional, or religious subject does not by itself make a particular arrangement or recording free to broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility for necessary rights—including applicable music and public-performance rights—on the person providing the live content.
YouTube may scan a live stream for third-party content. Even if you have a license, a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel in Content ID; without that, a stream can still be interrupted. Get the rights holder’s requirements in writing and confirm the channel is allowlisted where required.

Enable live streaming ahead of time
Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Initial live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast rather than waiting until launch day.
Decide what “24/7” means for your channel
Choose whether you need a single continuous live event, a sequence of separate events, or simply devotional videos available around the clock. Those outcomes have different implications for viewer continuity, archives, DVR, and restarts. StreamYard’s documented finite-video workflow alone does not establish a way to create one persistent event from consecutive scheduled broadcasts.

Schedule a finite devotional broadcast in StreamYard
- Prepare a rights-cleared video. Keep the program within the maximum for your StreamYard plan. If it runs longer, divide it into shorter programs only if separate broadcasts meet your needs; do not assume they will hand off without a gap or remain one YouTube event.
- Open the pre-recorded workflow. In StreamYard, create or upload a video, then choose Live Stream and Pre-recorded video.
- Select the destination. Choose the YouTube destination, then set the date and time. StreamYard documents scheduling pre-recorded streams up to 365 days in advance; this is a scheduling horizon, not a promise of continuous operation.
- Enter the event details. Add the title, description, and other requested metadata. Make clear to viewers whether this is a scheduled finite program or part of a separately managed continuous stream.
- Create and verify the broadcast. Confirm the destination, schedule, video, and event details in StreamYard and YouTube before announcing it. The pre-recorded broadcast is documented to start at the specified time and end when the video finishes.
For continuous playback, plan the encoder and YouTube event separately
If you use a separate encoder or playout system to loop devotional videos, verify its behavior with the precise YouTube event you intend to use. The documentation available here does not establish which external loopers can transition without gaps, preserve a single persistent event, or recover unattended. Confirm those details with the provider and test them before relying on the setup overnight.
Use conservative encoder settings
- Video codec: YouTube’s general encoder advice lists H.264.
- Audio codec: YouTube lists AAC or MP3.
- Rate control: Use constant bitrate (CBR) encoding.
- Keyframes: Set a two-second keyframe interval where the encoder allows it; YouTube’s guidance says the interval should not exceed four seconds.
- Resolution and bitrate: Select a supported output resolution and the corresponding bitrate recommended for that resolution by YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance. The correct values depend on the chosen output and encoder; do not guess a bitrate or upscale a lower-resolution source expecting added detail.
Test with audio and motion similar to the intended devotional stream. Check the preview in YouTube Live Control Room before going live, and leave upload capacity headroom rather than running the connection at its full measured limit. A wired Ethernet connection may help in a particular setup, but it is not a universal requirement.

Set up and protect the stream key
For an encoder stream, YouTube provides a stream URL and stream key for the encoder connection. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the stream. Reset it if you believe it has been exposed. Confirm that the encoder is connected to the intended YouTube event before starting playback.
Test recovery and monitor the live output
Before depending on a continuous stream, test what happens if the primary encoder or network connection fails. YouTube’s guidance suggests stopping the primary encoder or disconnecting its Ethernet cable to confirm that playback moves to the backup, if you have configured one. A failover test is not proof that all future interruptions will recover as expected.

During the stream, check the Live Control Room preview, then verify that the event appears on the channel and watch pages. Listen and watch from a mobile device as well as the control setup. Monitor audio and video continuously, and decide in advance who will respond to an interruption. For long runs, establish separately how event duration, DVR, restarts, and archiving work in your setup. YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not infer from that statement that a 24/7 event will produce one complete archive.

| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The pre-recorded StreamYard broadcast ends after the video | This is the documented behavior; the video is finite. | Keep the program within the plan’s per-video limit. For continuous playback, use and test a separate playout method rather than expecting StreamYard to repeat the video. |
| A long video will not fit the planned StreamYard broadcast | The source exceeds the plan’s pre-recorded video maximum. | Check the current limit for your plan. Shorten or divide the program if separate finite events are acceptable, or choose a verified continuous-playout approach. |
| Live streaming is unavailable on the YouTube channel | The channel may not be verified, may have a live restriction in the previous 90 days, or activation may still be processing. | Check channel eligibility and enable live streaming early; initial activation can take up to 24 hours. |
| A licensed song triggers a copyright interruption | The channel may not be allowlisted by the rights holder in Content ID, or the relevant rights may not cover the use. | Confirm the license covers the composition and recording and ask the rights holder about channel allowlisting. |
| The encoder disconnects or the stream becomes unstable | The network may be unreliable or upload capacity may be insufficient for the selected output. | Test with similar audio and motion, leave bandwidth headroom, inspect the YouTube preview, and test the configured backup path. |
| The archive is shorter than the live event | Archive length is not the same as stream duration; YouTube’s stated automatic archive guidance applies to encoder streams under 12 hours. | Check archive and DVR behavior for the exact event setup and plan an archive strategy separately for longer runs. |
