You can run a 24/7 Bitcoin price stream on YouTube by keeping three pieces working continuously: a market-price feed, a process that turns the feed into an on-screen graphic, and an encoder that sends the video to YouTube. YouTube supports encoder-based streaming, but the feed and encoder need their own reconnect and recovery plans. A displayed quote should identify its exchange and trading pair: there is no single universal Bitcoin price.
What you need to keep running
Think of the stream as three maintained components, not a single YouTube setting:
- Price data: a feed from a named exchange or data provider, for a named trading pair such as BTC/USDT.
- Visual rendering: software that updates a chart or price graphic and produces a continuous video output.
- Live encoder: software that sends that output to a YouTube live stream over RTMPS.
The YouTube API distinguishes the incoming liveStream resource, which carries content and streaming settings, from the liveBroadcast resource representing the event shown on YouTube. Its documentation describes a 24/7 broadcast resource that can remain distinct from resources for other events. That is an API organization model, not a guarantee that your data feed, encoder, or computer will stay online by itself. See YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.
Check YouTube eligibility before building the setup
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified, must have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the account holder must meet YouTube’s minimum age of 16 to live stream. YouTube lists an encoder as one supported way to go live. Check the current requirements and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio before configuring your encoder: YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

Choose and label the Bitcoin price feed
Identify the venue and pair
Choose a market-data source that provides the price you want to show, then label the screen with its venue and pair. For example, BTC/USDT on one exchange can differ from BTC/USD on another. Include a last-updated time so viewers can judge whether the displayed value is current.
Plan for a feed that disconnects
One example of a feed lifecycle to account for is Binance Spot WebSocket Streams: its documentation says a single connection is valid for 24 hours, and clients should expect it to disconnect at that point. Software using such a feed needs to reconnect and avoid presenting an old value as live. This is an example, not a recommendation that Binance is the best or only source; availability and suitable pairs depend on the service and the operator’s region. - Show the exchange or provider and trading pair on the graphic.
- Show the time of the latest successful update.
- Decide what viewers see if updates stop: for example, a visible stale-data notice rather than an unchanged number presented as current.
- Test the feed’s disconnect and recovery behavior before relying on it unattended.
Reconnect timing, heartbeat handling, backoff, and failover depend on the chosen provider and implementation; the cited feed documentation does not establish one universal configuration for them.
Build the visual and encoder workflow
Render a useful, readable graphic
Use a rendering process that takes the selected feed and outputs a continuously moving video image. A simple layout can show the venue and pair, current quote, update time, and a chart or other context. Test what the display does during a delayed update or a feed interruption; a frozen number without a timestamp can mislead viewers.

The specific rendering application, host computer, and unattended startup method are choices to verify. YouTube’s guidance and API documentation do not establish a tested Bitcoin-price-stream application, a minimum computer specification, or an end-to-end always-on deployment.
Create the YouTube broadcast and connect the encoder
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and select streaming software or encoder as the connection method.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like a password; do not show or share it.
- Use RTMPS when the encoder and YouTube connection settings support it. YouTube recommends RTMPS, a secure extension to RTMP.
- Start the encoder and confirm YouTube receives the stream. Check the preview and stream-health messages before making the broadcast public.
Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate
For a price graphic, 720p or 1080p at 30 fps is a reasonable editorial starting point: text can remain readable without choosing a higher output by default. For H.264, YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends 3 Mbps for 720p/30 fps and 5 Mbps for 1080p/30 fps. These are YouTube recommendations for those specific settings, not a guarantee that a particular connection will sustain them. Other codecs, resolutions, and frame rates have different guidance. Consult YouTube Help: Choose live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions for the applicable settings.

Run an upload test from the location and connection that will host the encoder. Leave capacity beyond the selected video bitrate for connection variation and other network use; do not treat the bitrate recommendation as a matching broadband-plan guarantee.

YouTube Help advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream. During the event, monitor the stream health and review messages.” Follow that guidance with the actual price graphic and encoder settings, rather than testing only a static preview.

- Verify that the displayed pair, venue, price, and last-update time are correct.
- Check YouTube’s preview and stream-health status before the public broadcast.
- Simulate or observe a feed interruption and confirm the display makes stale data apparent.
- Check what happens if the encoder or host stops, then verify how streaming resumes after it is restarted.
- Monitor stream health and YouTube messages while the broadcast is live.
The sources describe YouTube’s broadcast model and encoder guidance, but do not verify a particular host’s uptime, automatic computer restart behavior, or a complete unattended deployment. Confirm those failure and recovery paths in the setup you choose.
Common problems and what to check
- YouTube does not accept the stream: confirm live streaming is enabled for the channel, the stream key and server URL match the current YouTube Studio settings, and the encoder is sending to the intended broadcast.
- Stream health reports problems: compare the encoder’s selected resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate with YouTube’s applicable guidance; then test the actual upload connection and reduce output demands if needed.
- The displayed price stops updating: inspect the data connection and provider status. If using a connection with a limited lifetime, implement reconnection and show a stale-data state until a fresh update arrives.
- The picture continues but the quote is old: treat data freshness separately from video continuity. A healthy encoder does not prove that the market feed is current.
- The stream ends when the computer or connection stops: the encoder host and its network are part of a do-it-yourself setup. Verify how the process starts and recovers after interruptions; no minimum hardware or restart method is established by YouTube’s cited setup guidance.
