If you already publish a podcast through an RSS feed, you can send selected episodes to YouTube from YouTube Studio. YouTube verifies that you control the feed, turns each selected episode into a video using your show art as a static image, and uploads it to a podcast playlist. RSS delivery is available only in selected regions, and the first uploads are private until you publish them.
What YouTube RSS delivery does
YouTube treats a podcast as a playlist and each episode as a video. With RSS delivery, YouTube imports episodes from your feed and creates static-image videos using the podcast’s show art. After setup, new episodes added to the feed can upload automatically. The distribution is to YouTube and YouTube Music; it does not send your podcast to other podcast services. YouTube’s RSS delivery guidance explains the process.
A podcast playlist may be eligible for features such as YouTube Music inclusion and podcast badges, but eligibility is not guaranteed. Content you do not own and copyright issues can affect eligibility. YouTube’s podcast distribution guidance describes these qualifications.
Check these requirements before connecting your feed
- Regional availability: RSS delivery is available only in selected countries and regions. Availability is based on the channel owner’s location, so check YouTube’s current list of supported locations before starting.
- Feed URL and email access: Have your podcast’s RSS feed URL and access to the email address specified in the feed. YouTube sends its verification code to that address. If you do not know which address is listed, ask your hosting provider.
- Show art: YouTube uses the show art to make the static-image episode videos.
- YouTube Studio access: Sign in to Studio with the channel you want to use. If the channel does not have advanced feature access, YouTube may require identity verification during setup.
- Import choice: Decide whether to import every existing episode, episodes published since a date, or only future episodes.
- Visibility and sponsorships: Decide the initial visibility and whether episodes include branded content so you can set the appropriate options.
The documented RSS workflow does not require a microphone or other physical recording equipment: its inputs are an existing feed, Studio access, feed-email verification, and show art.

Connect the RSS feed and publish the podcast
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → New podcast → Submit RSS feed.
- Review and accept the RSS ingestion terms. Enter the RSS feed URL and continue.
- Request the verification code. Retrieve it from the email address listed in the feed, then enter it in Studio.
- Choose which episodes to import: all existing episodes, episodes from a selected date, or future episodes only.
- Review the visibility details and save. If an episode includes branded content, mark it as appropriate during setup.
- Wait for uploads to finish. YouTube says this can take a few days. Initial RSS uploads are private; YouTube recommends waiting until all selected episodes have uploaded before publishing, so you can address any problems first.
- When the episodes are ready, open Content → Podcasts and select Publish beside the feed. The podcast and new episodes become public after publication unless you change their visibility.
- Review the imported videos for copyright or monetization issues, and disclose sponsorships, endorsements, or other branded content using YouTube’s applicable controls. See YouTube’s instructions for publishing or disconnecting RSS episodes.
What RSS does not keep in sync
Show details and audio replacements
YouTube does not automatically update show details when you later edit the RSS feed, and it does not automatically replace audio files that you re-upload to the feed. To correct an imported episode, use Re-upload from RSS feed. YouTube creates a new video and makes the old video private.
Deleting a video is not the same as removing its feed item
Deleting an imported YouTube video does not remove the episode from the RSS feed. YouTube says it may upload again unless you also remove the episode from the feed. If you only want to hide the YouTube copy, making the video private is an option.

Back catalog, dates, and order
YouTube does not notify subscribers when you add back-catalog episodes through RSS. On the podcast playlist page, episodes are sorted by the feed release date when available; otherwise YouTube uses the publish date. YouTube does not verify RSS release dates, and different YouTube surfaces may display the RSS release date or the YouTube publish date.
Connecting an existing YouTube podcast
If the podcast already exists on YouTube, you can connect RSS from its podcast details page. Choose an import date after the latest episode already on YouTube to avoid importing duplicates.

If RSS is unavailable or you want more control over visuals
You can create a podcast in YouTube Studio and add full-length episode videos instead. An MP3 file alone cannot be a YouTube podcast episode: audio must be part of a video. For audio-only episodes, make a video with a static image such as the podcast thumbnail, or use an audiogram or another video format. Keep full episodes in their intended listening order in the podcast playlist; clips and season-specific playlists should not be designated as podcast playlists. See YouTube’s guide to creating a podcast in Studio.
| Approach | New episodes | Availability and setup | Visuals and corrections |
|---|---|---|---|
| RSS delivery | New feed episodes can upload automatically after setup. | Limited to supported regions; requires feed URL and email verification. | YouTube uses show art as a static image. Audio and show-detail edits do not sync automatically; use Re-upload from RSS feed to correct an episode. |
| Upload or convert episodes to video | Upload each finished episode yourself. | Does not rely on the RSS ingestion option; an MP3 alone is not a podcast episode. | You choose the video format, such as static art or an audiogram, and manage replacement uploads yourself. |
Some podcast hosting platforms offer YouTube delivery, but YouTube’s reviewed help information does not identify compatible providers. Check with your host rather than assuming a particular service supports it.
