To show several prerecorded clips during a host-run StreamYard broadcast to YouTube, open the studio and choose Present > Video file. Add up to 10 local videos, then play each one manually when it is time. The queue is not an autoplay playlist. If you need a video to start unattended at a scheduled time, use StreamYard’s separate Pre-recorded video workflow; that schedules one video rather than a queue of segments.
Add multiple videos during a live studio broadcast
- Prepare the files on the computer you will use for the studio. StreamYard recommends MP4 or MOV for its local video-file sharing feature.
- Create or enter a live studio broadcast. Select your YouTube channel as a destination. If it is not connected, add it as a destination before continuing.
- Add the first video. In the studio, click Present > Video file, then choose the local file. It is added to the stream automatically unless you have disabled automatic addition in studio settings.
- Queue the remaining videos. Repeat the same process for each clip. The queue holds up to 10 videos.
- Start the broadcast and play clips as needed. Hover over a shared video to play, pause, scrub, adjust its volume, or mute it. You can change the layout and talk over the video. Click play for each clip when you want it to appear on air; the next queued video does not start automatically.
Keep clips queued until you are ready
To avoid automatically putting each shared video on screen as it is added, turn off Automatically add shared screens/videos to stream in Settings > General before adding files. You can then bring a clip on air when it is called for.
Know the limits of the studio video queue
- It is session-bound. Videos shared this way are not saved as account media. If you leave the studio or refresh the page, they are removed and must be added again.
- There is no stated file-size or duration limit for this local sharing feature. That applies to sharing a video in the live studio, not to uploading a video for an automatically scheduled prerecorded stream.
- Audio is mono. StreamYard’s help article says long-form shared-video audio is output in mono, so stereo audio is compressed to a mono track.
Choose the right workflow for your broadcast
| Your need | StreamYard workflow | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Show several segments during a hosted live broadcast | Studio Present > Video file | Queue up to 10 local videos and trigger each manually. |
| Start one prerecorded video automatically at a chosen time | Pre-recorded video broadcast | Schedule one uploaded or past video; it starts at the scheduled time without you entering the studio. |
| Play a short recurring intro or outro | Studio video clips or automatic intro-outro feature | This is a separate short-clip feature with different limits and plan availability; it is not the long-form video queue. |
Schedule a prerecorded video to start unattended
Use the Pre-recorded video flow when you want one video to begin at a selected time without entering the studio. StreamYard’s help documentation lists different upload limits by plan: Core and Advanced support files up to 10 GB, while Teams and Business support up to 25 GB. Maximum video length is 2 hours on Core, 4 hours on Advanced, and 8 hours on Teams and Business. The listed maximum upload bitrate is 10 Mbps. Plan features and limits can change, so check StreamYard’s current help center and plan details before scheduling.
This is not the same as scheduling a studio broadcast. A scheduled studio show creates a scheduled post, but the host still needs to enter the studio and click Go Live at broadcast time. A scheduled prerecorded video starts on its own. For a prerecorded stream, StreamYard says the YouTube share link appears at the scheduled announcement-post time, or when the stream goes live if there is no announcement. Setting an earlier announcement is the documented way to make the link available sooner.

Troubleshoot video playback and scheduling
- A shared clip is not on screen: check whether Automatically add shared screens/videos to stream is off. If it is, select the video and bring it on air when needed.
- The next clip does not begin by itself: that is expected. The queue is manual; hover over and play each clip when you want it.
- Your queued videos disappeared: shared files are session material, not saved account media. Re-add them after leaving the studio or refreshing.
- A scheduled studio broadcast has not started: enter the studio and click Go Live. Scheduling the studio show alone does not start it unattended.
- A prerecorded upload exceeds a limit or has upload/lag trouble: confirm your plan’s current file-size, duration, and bitrate allowances. StreamYard mentions HandBrake as an optional way to compress a file when upload or lag is a problem.
Or let it run in the cloud
For a one-time hosted broadcast with several segments, StreamYard’s manual studio queue is the fitting workflow. If your goal instead is to keep uploaded videos looping as a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay running on your home computer; it streams the files as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. Start your free StreamNeo day.
